Oh sorry - yeah so...

i7 4770k overclocked to 4.2GHz

Water cooling - runs at about 60degC full load

Asus Geforce GTX 1060 Dual Fan

250GB Samsung SSD boot/game drive

2TB Western Digital storage drive

Windows 7 Pro with all latest updates

Have tried with latest Nvidia driver, 388.0 and 388.31 (which were the two drivers listed as optimised for Destiny)

EDIT: the game has run flawlessly for me since I bought it, it's only been since the last patch i.e. Tuesday this started happening - and this happening was the only reason I tried the other drivers.

No this isn't overproiced at all. GPUs cost a lot more in Europe than the US.

I assume this is the 6GB version we're talking about. Lowest price ever on that on Amazon was 275€.

Where you located in europe?

Cheapest gtx 1060's I can find around here are on Amazon.fr for 313 euros and on amazon.de for 299 euros

Prices aren't really lowering at the moment right now in europe, I've been looking for weeks now for a solid price and I'm probably buying one of these two next week.

I have a fractal R5 case and a Gigabyte H81M-S2H motherboard. Should I be able to upgrade my gtx 750 ti to this?

Ace, was thinking of getting this however later last year I saw them selling for ~£250 so will wait for the price drop again!

A couple of questions:

Is it worth spending a little bit extra on 3000mhz RAM over 2666mhz RAM? I plan on building a PC with Ryzen 1600 and 1060 6GB or RX 580 8GB.

Also, which GPU would be better to buy for 1080p 60+FPS Gaming?

A [1060 6GB] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-GeForce-DUAL-GTX1060-O6G-Graphics-Card/dp/B01IPFN7UQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1504351839&sr=1-3&keywords=1060+6GB)

or an [RX 580 8GB] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/SAPPHIRE-Pulse-Radeon-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B071CQ5LRV/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1504351948&sr=1-1&keywords=RX+580+8GB)

Thanks in advance

Ok cool! Then I have a kinda obscure secondary question. Do you think the Gefoce 1060 silver seen here -> https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-GeForce-DUAL-GTX1060-6G-Graphics-Card/dp/B01IPFN7UQ/ref=sr_1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1478136150&sr=1-7&keywords=1060+6gb

Would actually fit inside the corsair carbide 240?

u/lastoftheorder · 1 pointr/buildapc

Looking to upgrade my GTX 760, (current cpu is i5 4670k which I'm happy with) - am looking at buying a 1060 6GB from ASUS.

current price is ~£262, is this a good deal? Haven't kept up with hardware news since putting this build together back in 2015 so I'm a bit out of touch!

Any advice appreciated!

When linking Amazon, always remove everything behind the last '/' in the url, it's just tracking and referral shit that nobody wants.

I am looking at CPU and GPU upgrades.
I currently play and stream (to Twitch mainly) strategy/simulation games (Cities:Skylines, Civ, occasionally CS:GO) (Not making any cash to pay for upgrades yet tho)

I currently have:
AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition @3.2
ASUS M5A78L-USB 3 (AM3+) Mobo
12GB RAM (two pairs)
MSI 750Ti 2GB

XSplit reports CPU maxing out and frames dropping, but the Graphics struggle to handle games like cities anyway and even on mod-less play occasionally hangs.

Trying to fiddle the payday numbers and I might be able to afford:
AMD FX8350 Black Edition at 4Ghz (https://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-Black-Vishera-Clock-Turbo-x/dp/B009O7YUF6/ )
(Keep Mobo & RAM)
ASUS GeForce DUAL-GTX1060--O6G 6 GB Graphics Card ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01IPFN7UQ )

Question is, looking at tables like Tom' hardware Hierarchy, it is a big jump to the next step in the hierarchy... Am I just deluded at updating old hardware to old hardware?

Also, would swapping both out at the same time trigger Windows 10's 'You must buy a new licence' process from the free upgrades?

EDIT: removed errant letter in one link

Trying to decide between two GTX 1060 cards. ASUS is cheaper but I've heard MSI is a bit better. Is it worth the extra money? Though the prices for them both are going up and down by the day. Do they both have the same power draw? Would like probably the one with the better cooling.

You can still buy a gtx 1060 for £360. It's £100 more than it was this time last year, but certainly not a bad investment given that a 1060 will last for years. It's a quality card, can recommend.

rx580 8gb

gtx1060 6Gb
