Actually, if you check your Wikipedia page you shared will see that the sale of HDMI devices has increased many times over since the introduction of the High Speed HDMI cable. Most cables sold are High Speed cables.
If they need to purchase a new HDMI cable then they should purchase a category 2 cable not pay extra for a certified 4K cable. They are both category 2.
As long as the manufacturer is reputable for selling accurate cables you will be fine. There’s too much shady stuff going on with manufacturers tricking people into buying this or even this $99 cable which says its materials produce noticeably better picture and sound. It’s full of crap. As long as a cheap High Speed cable is accurate, they both give the same AV quality.
