> Lay as much of your arms down flat on the desk as you can

As long as you don't put your elbow down on the desk. I have an L-shaped desk where I would lean on my right elbow while working the mouse. The doctor told me not to do that. I got a small pad to rest my elbow on and it made a huge difference.

If you're a little edgy, try the Dvorak keyboard. It also makes my computer very secure - nobody can even type on it.

If you want a nice big mouse pad, but like the wrist rest, you can buy a rest seperately. All the mousepads with built in rests I've seen are quite small.

Why don't you check out the Belkin WaveRest series?

I own the keyboard rest and I've re ordered it about 3 times in the past 15+ years. If it ain't broke don't fix it. And the material used is proper quality, not the typical super soft air filled gel rest, it's a sturdy and very durable rest that is very comfortable.

Highly recommend it!

Would something like a trackpad or trackball be better for your requirements? This is a dell trackpad for $21, you could throw in the extra cash for a Gel pad for your wrist to rest on when you are not using it.

What kind of lap desk are you using? That'll help where to start. I personally use this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P75NDMB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_rIKMDb1TC55GK

Along with using a wrist support. Keeps it from slipping at all since I wrest it against the wrist pad. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006HVNI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_GOKMDbSG11JXH

I am using a ratz pad with my g502 and its amazing... the surface takes a bit of getting used to, but its worth it. There is a cut out too so if you want a gel wrist pad you can toss it there and its really comfortable.

years ago i used one like these for my paper tape calculator;
https://www.amazon.com//dp/B00006HVNI/
then i bought a second one and use them both for a keyboard.
i like they don't take up a lot of space and are cheap.
last i was in MicroCenter they had them for around $5 each.

something else to keep in mind. the level of your keyboard
in relation to your arms and hands - may need to be adjusted.
this is why adjustable height desks and keyboard trays are used.
if you ever formally took a typing class, one of the things they
teach you is that your hands should "float" above home position.
