  • Berkey Travel Water Filter - This way you can filter larger quantities of water than would be available through a Lifestraw

  • 50 Pk Bic Lighters - You don't want to rely solely on a few lighters in the event they stop working

  • A sleeve each of Lithium Ion batteries in AA, AAA, C & D in the event you need to power something other than a flashlight

  • 2 quality flashlights

  • A good quality can opener as well as a couple military style openers without the moving parts that can break

  • Tuna is good but also baked beans, chili and beef stew ; high protein foods to go with your rice. If you get cans stay away from the pull tab tops. Also add some honey(real honey), salt and pepper

  • Good hiking/walking shoes in the event you have to travel by foot. Also don't forget a good quality backpack

  • Battery operated or crank operated Emergency radio

  • In addition to a knife I would also add a machete and a hatchet. You can use them for protection and tools

  • A small camping kit to heat up your food as well as some 100 hour candles or a couple of small quality oil lamps with a couple gallons of lamp oil

  • Be careful of the survival kits you see online as sometimes they are filled with stuff you do not need and you can make your own cheaper. Definitely purchase a First Aid kit

  • I have added gas masks to my kit which some say is extreme but during riots and unrest the authorities will use tear gas and you have people burning tires, cars and whatever else they can so you don't want to breathe that crap in. I went with the NATO SGE 150 with spare filters but remember that the filters do expire so you will have to purchase new ones every couple of years

Most of these items take up minimal space and you can add to your stash as you see fit ; hope this helps

About $53 on Amazon. Not Prime eligible at that price but the seller offers free shipping.
