No problem! Check out estate sales for a good deal if you don't want to pay full price. I have had a large processor for a long time and I don't remember the original cost, but I have been searching for a small one for awhile and finally just bought one new at Costco and it was $25. Honestly, i can't see myself ever not having at least 1. I love my big one, but when I make pesto for myself it's just too big. But a smaller one, you will find a lot of uses for. And you can always just use a small one and make multiple batches at once.

This is probably fine for what you would need. And then later on down the line if you find you love it, you could save up for a bigger one. I'm guessing if it has 1 button you probably have to stand there and hold the button down to use it (mine have 2 buttons, one to turn on and one to turn off/pulse, but they work so fast that sometimes I do have to stand there so certain things don't overly process).

This is the black decker food chooper. I have been very happy with this. I use this everyday. It is only $13.99 on Amazon as well. The only complaint it that it is only 1.5 cups.

I actually have 2 food processers. My first is a 7 cup one similar to [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-FP1600B-8-Cup-Processor/dp/B0038KPRG6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1344264139&sr=8-4&keywords=7+cup+food+processor). The second one is only 1.5 cups. It's very small and honestly not very good with any amount more than a cup. I think its [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-HC306-One-Touch-Electric/dp/B000I0DV6W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344264230&sr=8-1&keywords=1+cup+food+processor). I also would like to get a spice grinder [like this] (http://www.amazon.com/203-42-Electric-Coffee-Grinder-Stainless/dp/B00004SPEU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1344264296&sr=8-1&keywords=spice+grinder), for when I need to grind spices, nuts, or make some breading-I am partial to coating chicken strips in a cracker similar to cheese itz, but the small food processor doesn't get it fine enough.

That being said, you mind be able to get a blender. I use my blender when making things that are more like smoothies. I am unable to handle curry and not very partial to hummus so I cannot say if that would work.

Mini Processor

A Good Knife

Mini Mixer

That's a start. A+ for your girl, and enjoy the great food that ensues. :)

Fuck it, I'm human.
I usually ignore people at my place as soon as pleasantries are over/after about 15 minutes before I bring out one of my snakes or lizard and talk to them instead.

I shouldn't want this but I do, I'm a lazy fuck. It's easy to chop things up with my knives, but oftentimes, I just skip the meal instead of putting effort in. hangs head in shame

I have a mini chopper like the one you linked. You definitely won't get the results they show in the pics--e.g., mine shows instant salsa with perfectly-cut chunks of tomato, onions, peppers, etc.

It only works on firm veggies, and doesn't provide an even chop until everything is very finely diced. It's basically good at blending something to smithereens, and anything soft like tomatoes or avocados just turns into a sloppy mush. It's great for onions, garlic, cilantro, etc--anything you want very finely diced. I also like using it for salad dressing, because it basically acts like a mini blender. But you're not going to get perfectly-chopped big chunks like they advertise.
