Had same similar issue. The HMDI that came with my TPCast was faulty. Ordered a new one and fixed it.

Look up HDMI ribbon cable on Amazon. They use a HDMI port connected directly to a ribbon cable with no additional plastic/rubber covering.

You might need to email them to request a A-1 to A-Female cable. I can't seem to find them just by searching.
That is exactly what happened to me. I narrowed it down to the short HDMI cable between the headset and TPCast receiver by turning on my Vive/SteamVr while the headset was completely still on my desk. I then wiggled each cable slightly and found that the screen only went black when I barely touched the HDMI cable. It appears to get a little crimped at the point that it comes out of the removable hatch. TPCast support was terrible about it (surprise) and said it was impossible to get me another cable and that I should contact the place I bought it from. I just had the same problem with my tpcast. Bought this and it fixed it. Just be careful with the thin ribbon.

been a bit over a year and still good, but I mostly use my Index now.
I have the same problem and had to message TPcast 3 times before they would respond. They just referred me back to Newegg and said that a replacement will depend on Newegg's policy. It's total BS! TPCast provide a warranty but don't seem to honor it. If they are aware of a problem with the HDMI cable, they shouldn't be giving their customers the runaround while trying to replace it. I'm glad I found this article because I couldn't find a HDMI cable that would fit in the Vive. I'm going to give up on the warranty return and just go with this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I2EA2ZI instead.
