Glass is really hard so there are specific kits for it.
If you really wanted to try and fix something like this the best bet would probably be CeriGlass which contains cerium oxide. A drill with a felt pad attachment would be better too.

There's a cheep kit on amazon with all the pads and bottles for like $15, I also saw a great review of it online.
