I actually just found this video. Guy seem to have used a similar (if not the same product) from amazon.com . He removed the little power booster box and it still seems to work. Is this even possible given the power requirements you mentioned previously?

You want something like this which connects to a usb power bank or this which connects to AC adapter. Get the version for your camera and a suitable power bank.
