>Howd I do on my selection of receiver plus speakers paid 150 receiver and speakers 250 ?
Well, it depends on what your goals are with audio reproduction. If you're not going to set a 5.1 system, then a 5.1 channel receiver is probably not the best choice. It's difficult to give advice if we don't know what your aims are and what kind of listening space you've got.
>What is the best way to strip speaker wire plus install into speaker ports? I had a bit of trouble cutting it with my pliers.
I haven't got any trouble with just using a pair of scissors. If you're still having trouble, then you could buy a proper tool for stripping wires.
>I hear static when the volume is high when there is nothing playing. Is something wrong or its just like that?
That's just "noise floor". It's to be expected in almost all systems.
>is there any guides on getting the receiver settings the best it can be?
I personally prefer the receiver to be as neutral as possible. Some AV-receivers probably don't even allow to bypass all the processing.
>Does quality of speaker wire matter?
No.
