Yep, more Ah would mean more range, but not necessarily bigger. Lead acid is not very energy dense compared to other chemistries.
Easiest way to get more range is to upgrade to LiFePo4 batteries. They sell drop-in replacements for lead batteries, they're the same size, lighter yet they have more Ah.

You can get a 12v15Ah LiFePo battery that has the same terminals, exact same size.
Other option is to get a custom 18650 battery pack or figure a way to cram a pre-made pack into your current battery compartment, both of which would be a big headache.
