For anyone interested, you can still order brand new copies of Chrono Cross for the PS1 from Square Enix's website and Amazon for about $15+shipping.

Amazon's store page and here's Square Enix's store page.

amazon has Chrono Cross for $10 for a new copy: https://www.amazon.com/Chrono-Cross-PlayStation/dp/B00004TC6E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1518192260&sr=8-1&keywords=chrono+cross. It is the Greatest Hits version, but there is no guarantee the one from Gametop won't be. And there is no guarantee the Gamestop one won't be just the disc.

If you haven't already got these on an older system, I highly recommend the classic Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.

(sorry for Amazon link; not trying to promote them that way, but you can find good reviews there, if desired)

You could just get Final Fantasy Chronicles and Chrono Cross, since the PS3 supports PS1 discs.

I could see Sony putting Chrono Cross on the PSN with the other PS1 games, but I think there's more of a chance of Chrono Trigger being brought over to the PSP, much like Final Fantasy I, II, and Tactics.

You can track down a used Playstation 1 and a set of the original discs for pretty cheap, actually. :)

In fact, you don't really even need the system itself -- most emulators nowadays don't require a BIOS file any more, having replaced it with their own BIOS-mimicking code, meaning they don't depend on any proprietary Sony code and are therefore entirely legal to use as long as you're reading from the real discs and not a pirated copy (that is, emulators are usually used to run pirated software, which is illegal, but the emulators themselves are not illegal -- see the case of Sony Computer v. Bleem, Inc.)...
