For your needs I would honestly go Ryzen 3600 or 3700x, the 3800x really won't give you much in terms of extra framerate and will run hotter and draw more power.

You would also be good with a 650w PSU, and I would throw in an AIO cooler like this to reduce noise and temps, as the stock AMD coolers are pretty noisy.

u/trashpandaemon · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Hey! Yeah I was considering the newer AMD. I also forgot to put that im planning to add the Corsair Hydro Series, H115i PRO RGB, 280mm.

u/arcanis_hots · 2 pointsr/CanadianHardwareSwap

Thanks for the information. Just a few things, the link you provided is for the regular version. I'm selling the Pro RGB version which is also listed at $179.99. Also, all the different sites listed the same price so I just happened to go with canada computers, so please don't assume I chose it to deceive people here.

Should I get one of the Corsair AIOs (e.g. this) or the new Noctua Tower Cooler (this)?

I'm tending towards the Noctua one because quietness is one priority and I'm a fan of Noctua fans (lol), also it's cheaper.

The AIOs on the other hand take less space and therefore are easier to build around and (imo) look nicer. Also, could the big tower cooler block airflow towards the GPU?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on that.

u/red286 · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

You can use pretty much anything with a radiator up to 360mm. I'd recommend the Corsair Hydro H115i PRO, H115i, or H100i v2.

Looking to buy a mobo for a u7 8700k.

Which one is better? Any better alternative? I have to buy from Amazon.it, there isn't much choice.

Asus Rog Z370-E
[Z370 AORUS Gaming 7] (https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B075ZXP8CG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A11IL2PNWYJU7H&psc=1)

I also need a cooler. What about this Corsair?

u/I_BLAME_YOUR_MOTHER · 1 pointr/buildapc

Hi everyone! I'm currently building my first machine and I couldn't be more excited.

I purchased a Corsair H115i Pro to cool my system.

I'm not sure which direction to install the fans though. Should it be blowing air into or out of the case? I'll be mounting the fans along the top of my case.

Thank you!

Those are some nice gains son.

You sound like you know a lot more about modifying desktops than I do. Can I ask some questions?

  1. How hard was it installing a new PSU and dealing with all the cable reinstallation?

  2. Do you know if a CPU cooler like this: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B077G3C6HH/
would work in this setup? (I didn't see an open grille in the top of the case)

  3. Could you get away with using a 650w PSU in your opinion? Thanks in advance.

Ok my bad, I thought the guy at Fry’s said “AI” not “AIO”. So the tubing and all is just pointless? Because I found [this](Corsair Hydro Series H115i PRO RGB 280mm Radiator Dual 140mm ML Series PWM Fans Advanced RGB Lighting Liquid CPU Cooler CW-9060032-WW https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077G3C6HH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Ryg.Ab52WY8TX) It’s an all in one watercooler and I don’t have to mess with any tubing..

So, a second graphics card with an Sli bridge doesn’t improve performance like a noticeable amount Wtf?

My spec are:
1070 Ti Msi
Intel I7 7700k
16 Gb Ddr4
1 Tb hard drive (Going to get an SSD)
850W power supply
Z270 Asus motherboard

u/toxicity959 · 1 pointr/buildapc

The NZXT CAM software (for controlling the X62) is notorious for high CPU utilization, and it's speculated that it mines your data. I would swap that out for a Corsair H115i instead.

As for the motherboard, you can do better for near the same price. The MSI B450 Tomahawk has much better VRMs at the same price point (see the spreadsheet here).

u/BlackflagsSFE · 1 pointr/buildapc

In my experience with bent prongs it never compromised the CPU. I've honestly bent more than you before from trying to seat it but incorrectly. Also, what liquid cooler did you have before. I have this baby here and I honestly don't hear it much, if any. CORSAIR HYDRO Series H115i PRO RGB AIO Liquid CPU Cooler,280mm, Dual ML140 PWM Fans, Intel 115x/2066, AMD AM4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077G3C6HH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_YhvLDbW033AXT

I mostly hear my GPU revving up and down (it's a refueb, don't buy zotac).

Noctua has a good reputation for having some of the best performing fans though they are a bit pricey maybe because of the demand for them if spending $20 or more per case fan is too much going for cheaper fan's wouldn't be the worse idea as replacing a fan is easier these fan's are pretty cheap and it comes with 3 of them Noctua also has some of the best CPU Coolers

Here's a couple of CPU coolers if they cost too much there's a couple others I can think of

Noctua NH-D15 one of the best coolers by noctua the FSP case may have trouble mounting this.

Noctua NH-U14S a more budget cooler but still capable might be a bit louder then the D15 the FSP case may have trouble mounting this

Dark Rock Pro 4 one of the most recommended CPU coolers I've seen at the moment probably because of it's price for a dual heat sink tower cooler the FSP case may have trouble mounting this

Corsair H115i a very high end Liquid cooler it's expensive but it'll definitely get the job done might have better overclocking performance as AIO cooler's don't suffer from stark changes in temperatures with an air cooler you may see temperature spikes for example your CPU is sitting at 40 C and it jumps up to 50 C for a second and then quickly climbs back down this is pretty rare for an AIO Liquid cooler

with all the clearance issue's with the FSP case you could look into this case it would be wide enough to fit all cooler's I mentioned here while also not being too expensive

u/freakingwilly · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

If you're absolutely hell bent on ZERO RGB, the only options you have are:

  1. BeQuiet Silent Loop 280mm, which isn't available in the US.
  2. Cryorig A80, which is actually more expensive than a comparable RGB model.

I'd recommend something like the EVGA CLC 280 or the Corsair H115i Pro and just disable the RGB on the pump. Because:

  3. Both are cheaper.
  4. Both come with non-RGB fans.
  5. Both come with excellent warranties from excellent companies.

This is a great answer, but to add.

I have used this on a 4790K and a 7700K.

It did an OK job on the 4790K, and so i replaced the fans with Noctua fans (as this guy said, the fans are meh). After the fan change-out it was great.

When i upgraded to the 7700K I thought "both 4 cores, only a slightly higher clock, slightly higher power usage, will probably work." boy was I wrong.

Running prime95 on the 4790K netted me 75c, running it on the 7700K I would hit 100 and thermal throttle.

The 7700K runs a lot hotter. So i upgraded to the H115i (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B019955RNQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and got the upgraded fans from Noctua again. Let me just run prime95 quick.... 73c.

So i guess the question to you is, Whats your CPU?

Side note, there is also a newer model https://smile.amazon.com/CORSAIR-Radiator-Advanced-Lighting-Software/dp/B077G3C6HH/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

u/PulsE_Capacityy · 1 pointr/buildapc

NZXT and Corsair are negligibly equal in performance and quality. NZXT and Corsair are essentially the top of the line for AIO coolers. 1st, 2nd.

To answer your question about the leather arm rest, it is probably the most comfortable thing I’ve experienced for gaming. Never thought I needed one until I had one. It’s the only reason I still use a razer, otherwise I’d switch to a Corsair.

This build looks pretty solid.

I personally would get an air cooler like the NH-D15 for reliability reasons, but I'm guessing you want the AIO liquid cooler for the bling, which is fine.

Since you have a lot of wiggle room in your budget still, consider opting for an H115i (or the PRO version since the regular one is currently out of stock) instead of an H100i v2 for additional performance. The larger radiator should be very helpful to you; just make sure you remove the top lid of the 760T and re-orient the rubber grommets to match the 280mm mounting holes.

For the most part, I think you're good to go.

EDIT:

I just realized I overlooked one of your questions.

>Okay so upon further reading here it seems you must know your stuff if you're talking about terms I've never considered from a performance standpoint. Good VRM equates to better CPU performance then?

Better VRMs will allow you to use potentially higher-clocked, potentially higher-core count CPUs without worrying about a weak power delivery or high thermals. It's not needed per se, but it will be very helpful in giving you peace of mind. You may also want to do a little overclocking later down the line as well; nothing too major if desired.

I suppose indirectly, a better VRM will result in better CPU performance.

>The memory you picked will work best with CPU's that haven't been released yet? Am I getting that right?

It's mainly that Samsung B-die is about the best memory that will work with Ryzen CPUs. But yes, it'll work nicely with future Ryzen CPUs as well, especially since they should have an even better IMC (integrated memory controller) than the current second-gen Ryzens.
