For $1,600 You’ll have to make some compromises. A 2-in-1 with a 1060 is expensive and honestly not worth it. I know you don’t want laptops that have a gamer aesthetic, but I would suggest something like the asus rog gl503vm it has very minor gamer aesthetics. You can get things like a dell xps or a Lenova, but those are built for office work spaces, not really for gaming you won’t get a ton of good performance on games like GTA or battlefield and the like with a 1050, really though I’d suggest just hitting up your local store like a best buy or something and getting some hands on and see the type of laptop you like.

EDIT - I also hear the dell Inspiron 15 line is pretty good for both office and gaming environments like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0764HW116/ref=psdcmw_13896615011_t1_B077NPRXYY

I would recommend Dell i7577-7425BLK-PUS as it comes with: -

CPU: I7-7700HQ

GPU: GeForce GTX 1060

RAM: 16 GB

Display: UHD 15.6 IPS screen

Storage: 128 GB SSD,1 TB HDD

Average battery life

It is a great choice because of its great heat management system and high build quality, along with its specifications makes it the best option for your usage and it is within your budget.
and it's better than the 7567 as the processor in 7577 is higher version and it is lighter not the opposite as you think the 7577 is 5.76 lb and 7567 is 6.61lb
the 7567 has TN panel with limited viewing angle on the other hand the 7577 comes with ips panel.

Freshman year I wouldn't recommend taking the time to build a PC, the year starts out pretty fast and you'll need a device to work with very early on. With that said I had a very similar criteria while looking for a laptop. I ended up buying the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Gaming. It's a very solid laptop, Intel Quad Core i7, 16GB of RAM, and a very impressive GTX 1050 (below recommended 1060 for VR)with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. It has a very solid battery life, it lasts me a full day easily doing anything that's less demanding that gaming. It's also fairly light for 15 inch gaming laptop. When it comes to gaming it is also pretty impressive for the price, I've had it run GTA V on high at around a constant 60FPS (while plugged in). It's a very solid option when it comes to a daily driver and a powerhouse. It has also taken a few hits (being in my backpack while I fell of my bike multiple times) testifying to it's durability. The only drawback to getting the 16GB of RAM is that you have to give up on some storage (which I believe you can install a second ssd or hdd because it has an empty slot inside not certain tho). And all of that is for under 1k. https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-15-6-inch-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B07BKVHNPK/

If you're willing to put more down for a good laptop, my laptop's older brother is also a very solid contender for 400 more. https://www.amazon.com/Dell-i7577-7425BLK-PUS-Inspiron-Display-Gaming/dp/B0764HW116/
It has the higher gtx 1060 (the recommended for VR :/ ) and a bigger form factor.

Also, this probably isn't a deal breaker, but neither have a CD drive.
Hope this helps

Does this happen to be the one you’re getting? If so, I just got this two weeks ago and absolutely LOVE it. It’s a fucking beast.

The Dell i7577-7425BLK-PUS would do the job for you. A major advantage you will have with it is it's good battery life. It also has a decent heat management and display quality.

I can tell you for sure that Asus VivoBook N580VD is not a good choice for you - weak display - only 60% sRGB - for photo/video edit I recommend sRGB over 80%

Anyway based on your requirements I have made this noteb search,

You can see and change the search parameters using the "Refine results" button in the upper-left part of the search results page. You can also click on the laptops for more information.

This one seems to be better than your selected two: Dell Inspiron 15 7567 Gaming UHD(US) - has a LED IPS display with 16.7M colors, 90% sRGB - recommended for photo editing - I found it on amazon with this configuration: Intel Core i7, GTX 1060 6GB Graphics, 16GB Memory, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, 15.6", Matte Black at 1199$

u/legos45 · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

> Better than 1920x1080,

How about the Dell Inspiron 15 7577 UHD? It has:

  • i7-7700HQ 4-core processor

  • 16 GB of RAM

  • 128 GB SSD storage

  • 4K 15.6" display w/ 97% sRGB color accuracy

  • GTX 1060 6 GB graphics card

  • Weight of 5.7lbs and battery life up to 5.5 hours

This laptop runs Windows 10 Home. The strong GPU + great display will be perfect for the programs you listed. You can choose to dual-boot Linux in the future. The 4-core processor should also fine for the uses you listed.

Dell Inspirion Gaming laptops are a bit less flashy

There is also Dell XPS 15 for a bit over $1500

Without the hub, I kept losing either sensor or HMD connectivity at random, so I am guessing they're all on one controller and the laptop isn't liking it. I am also using an HTC link box though I'm not 100% sure it's needed as the hub seemed to fix the issue (though I use it to extend the headset and have it mounted off to the side, which keeps the wire pretty well out of the way unless I end up on that corner of the play area). I should also say: the specific set up I had to do to make everything play well together is: one USB 3.1 for the HMD (which is also going through the HTC box), the hub plugged into the TB3 port, and both sensors in the hub. If I plugged the hub in via USB 3.1, or if I also plugged the HMD into the hub with the sensors, the same issue would happen.

I have this specific laptop (was on sale for less than this at the time), which I can't seem to find on the dell site itself -- calls it Thunderbolt 3 and I hope that actually meant Thunderbolt 3 and not 'it's actually just USB C but we'll call it Thunderbolt 3' -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0764HW116/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So I recently got a 4k laptop. This one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0764HW116/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

However I noticed on games I can't use 1440p resolution. I figured hmm and just stuck with 1080p for most games but now I realize some games I have I can get ultra setting 60fps at 1440p. Well I looked at my display settings on the desktop just for the hell of it and 2560 x 1440 is missing completely.

Why can't my laptop do 1440p when it is actually a 2160p display?

The thing is, one of the services I turned off was Windows Update, and after disabling it, I couldn’t download apps from the Windows store until I turned Windows Update back on. I’m just curious, is this Microsoft being assholes, or is there actually a good reason why that’s the case?

I also want to improve both my options on customising and improving the sound of my headphones for music and gaming as well as improving the quality of my mic recording, avoiding the percieved cheap amplification of my onboard sound card. My budget would go up to 150 Euros, my location is Germany.

Just say you need a laptop for school. Then save $300-$400. Buy one of these.

Profit?

Edit: I think this post is fake since I feel most parents with high school aged kids don't know much about price hiking and exclusives.

u/Snorkle25 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

dude, its 1.5 lbs more and 0.17" thicker for over $300 less and has a much better display. Thats soo much better than saving a little weight and size. We arent talking about bricks here, just a small sacrifice in form factor, both are still 15" laptops.

Never heard of Eluktronics. The specs are better than the Acer, but they're in different classes. The Eluktronics is 17" and about 30% heavier than the Acer. Are you specifically looking for very large laptops?

If you're willing to forego the touch screen and don't mind a 15" laptop, then this Dell Inspiron 7577 seems like a better deal to me:

Dell Inspiron 7577 - $999.00
