Do you still have the voicemails? You should make a short "best of" reel, and make your own audio xmas card! Send it with husband to give to the in-laws with a note "Sorry I can't make it, I'm sure you understand! -XOXO"

Been wanting to do something like that for quite some time now!

I use a recordable birthday card -

- and then run it through an amplifier -

- and then to a single or double motorcycle speaker set -

- that I can trigger when an actor hits a button or performs an action.

These work pretty well, can work off of a battery pack for a r/c car, and can reproduce the exact sound over and over again. I'm in the process of converting more of the actor areas tot his type of system for our haunt so that the actors don't have to scream and yell.

All I could think of was a sound module like the ones they have on greeting cards. You may have to devise the rest of the casing for it but I believe it is what you are looking for.

Maybe something like this https://www.amazon.com/Sound-Module-for-Greeting-Cards/dp/B006HL1KAU and have the box when it's open complete the circuit the flowers this little device and have it play the dun Na Na naaaaaa!

And they could use one of these to have it play the opening-chest sound from Legend of Zelda.

It looks like you can buy them from amazon or ebay for fairly cheap. The Amazon one is fancier by recording the audio directly from the audio port on your computer (possibly a phone as well unless you find yourself without that apple adapter thing). The ebay one you just tap and record anything. Interestingly enough, these singing cards have been around since the late 90s, I found an article on the New York Times about them. The NY Times only allows you to read 10 articles for free a month in case you don't have a subscription (who would honestly).

My first thought when seeing this card was that I could never be creatively enough to make it, but maybe this inspires someone to make one of their own. /u/kanokawn tell your best friend he/she is amazing

Sometimes I'm not too bright. I should have realized that a useful answer would include that. Sorry. I just assumed you needed a supplier, rather than actually covering all the bases.

But they're called sound modules.

while these are on the expensive and larger end, it's a good example of what to search for
