I've been using a 5gal washer with bubble bags for years and its paid for itself many times over. Last week I turned 16oz of dry trim into just over 2oz of hash in about 90 minutes.

I bought an unbranded washer for about $80 on ebay 7ish years ago and its still going strong. The only thing I have to replace occasionally is the zipper bag you use inside the washer. I'm currently using these (https://www.amazon.com/G-LEAF-Gallon-Extraction-Washing-Machine/dp/B07BMT1KQ8) with good results, the small size is better imo because the large is too long and doesn't rotate well in the washer. Its just a little harder to fill with the smaller opening.

If you go with bags I definitely recommend getting full mesh. The ones with mesh only on the bottom are typically rubber coated on the inside. The bags I originally bought started to flake off after about a year and leave rubber bits in the hash. I tossed those and bought a full mesh set and have been using them for 4-5 years with no issues. I use bags similar to these currently: https://www.amazon.com/BUBBLEBAGDUDE-Bubble-Gallon-Herbal-Extractor/dp/B00W353LFG I think the set I bought had 6 mesh sizes but I only use 3 of them, just my preference.

Some people prefer to use fresh-frozen trim, but I dry mine then lightly crush and freeze after. I don't have time to run it all as quick as I get it so its better for me this way. I have a caregiver friend that has a lot of trim and freezes it fresh, but it tastes like shit after a few weeks. I'd just say play around with it and see what works best for you :)
