I actually quite liked it! As or the critism part:

(i'm just a film student so take it with a grain of salt ;))

  • The opening shot was great but took a bit long without actually going anywhere. I would have revealed something or at least I wouldn't have added fast cut shots once you're done with the oneshot because suddently there is a whole new style, much different from the begin and ripping us out of the vibe the first 55 seconds set up. If you want to keep the fast paced editing of her falling i'd cut the opening shot 10-20 seconds short and build up with some other slow > fast cuts so its not that unnatural.

  • You really need to work on your rack focusses, they are placed at the right moment but they are quite bad. This might be some help to you

  • Its shaky and i'm sure you know that yourself, are you using a DSLR rig btw? I'd invest into anything to stabilize your shots in the future. Well stabilized shots would have made the movie so much better. I'd get something like a HD1000. Its worth to save up for because it does at a lot of value to your shots. There are much cheaper alternatives if you're on a budget.

  • Towards the scene where she is chasing the boy the music starts to overpower the dialogue and you really have to lookout for that. Its not bad but it takes away from the quality.

All in all, I really do like the movie, keep it up!

    > (and if anyone has any ideas how to get more people to watch...it would be appreciated!)

Keep making movies, try to push out a movie each two weeks or even something each week. You're not only going to get much better at it but the better the movies get the more people will be watching them.

I've been doing walk-thrus for a few years now and have used a Glidecam for all of them (which btw are incredibly overpriced in my opinion). There is a learning curve, and in the beginning it really strains the arm(s) but you can get some really good results.

In december I purchased a 3-axis gimbal this one. The thing is buttery smooth, but unfortunately there is a problem with the yaw axis getting out of sync, causing the camera not to remain level. I need to re-calibrate the controller, and have to deal with customer service to do that, but I've been so busy this year that I haven't had a chance yet.

When it is finally working properly, I am pretty sure I will end up using it for most of my walk-thrus, with the added advantage of being able to use it for slider-type shots, and some other creative shots that would be tough with the Glidecam.

However, I think it may slow me down a bit too. In the end my plan is to increase the overall quality of my videos and in turn increase my rates slightly to reflect the level of the work.

If I were to do it all over again, I'd still start off with the Glidecam.
