Leash chewing is incredibly annoying! I fixed it by buying a very small-link chain leash-zero fun to chew. You can get them at pet stores/amazon:

It's much less time consuming than putting away the leash every time they bite it.
Are you crate training the puppy? That will probably be the fastest way to get him to stop pooping inside. Also dogs, especially at that age, pee/poop about 5-30 minutes after they eat. How late are you feeding him in the evening? Try making sure he goes to bed with an empty rectum, and make sure that the absolute first thing he does in the morning is poop. I know this is so tough and exhausting, but it just takes a little work and will be resolved!
