You could get an HDCP stripping splitter. One end goes into your Elgato and removes the HDCP, while the other end goes into your TV.

Something like this might work for you.

Yeah, it's possible that the tv would just output stereo or some other BS in that situation. Again, I'm no expert but maybe something like this might work? Might be a better way though.
