I updated the post with budget.

As for your wonderment, maybe I am not familiar with the tactile feedback mechanical keyboard provide, but I know there are membrane/rubber dome keyboards out there with more feedback than usual. In my university we have HP KU-1156 keyboards (http://www.amazon.com/HP-black-keyboard-KU-1156-672647-003/dp/B00LLK88IE) and they quite nice to type on, as opposed to to the other quiet keyboards you meet in the wild.

> b450 and bios update (combo from microcenter) or pay more for x570.

So I stopped by Microcenter a week or two ago just to peruse since I've never been in one, and they had at least a couple different b450 motherboards that said they were Ryzen 3000 series compatible on the box. Not sure what to think about this since I keep hearing that b450 boards need a bios update and that's a mess. So is this legit? If so, does any compatible b450 board work or should I only consider certain ones? I really don't know much about mobos.

> I have added a basic hp keyboard and if you can find the model number of the one at work we can look into it

Here's the keyboard I have at work: https://www.amazon.com/HP-black-keyboard-KU-1156-672647-003/dp/B00LLK88IE

Maybe it's mechanical, I dunno what I'm talking about here. Any issues with just getting this? I've never had a "gaming" keyboard - what am I missing out on?

> Lastly we could look at a bigger 1440p panel for work if you want.

I think it'd drive me crazy trying to work on two different sized monitors

OK a couple more questions if you don't mind:

  • If I get this case can I just not plug in the LED lights? Or is there a way to turn them off?

  • I'm assuming the case fan is for exhaust?

  • The 144Hz monitor says it's refurbished... this scares me, perhaps illogically so. But do you mind recommending a new one? (edit - looks like both are refurbished)

Thanks so much. This is great.
