> I am choosing to leave out side lights from my first build to reduce the amount of variables that may give me electrical/heat issues. Will this significantly affect my yield to the point where I should be seriously reconsidering this decision?

Not really. The sidelights are a nice and cheap upgrade, but probably affects more trichome production than yield.

> Which of those two fans do you think will work better for me? If these are both horrible, what other fans should I be looking at? I am looking at doing a DIY carbon filter since it seems to be pretty straightforward. What sort of DIY carbon filters do you suggest? How powerful should fans be to deal with a carbon filter in a standard-size space bucket?

Its really hard to recommend those small fans for filters, my advice would be to get an inline fan and filter and not overcomplicate things. ONA gel is also a good solution for odors.

> I am using white buckets rather than mylar because it seems white buckets work fine and mylar can create hot spots. Is this accurate?

White buckets are a fine choice, but mylar does not create hot spots. That is a myth. Check /r/HandsOnComplexity for the science behind that.

> I've read that buckets are much cheaper at stores than they are on Amazon. Around how much should I be spending for 4x white 5 gallon buckets? Are there any other items in my build that I can get for cheaper in person?

Try to get them for free. I've never paid for a 5gal bucket. At least in my city there are a lot of 5gal buckets near construction sites, to give one example. You just have to know where to look.

> I am planning on ordering seeds from Nirvana. Is this a good vendor or is there a different one that I should be using?

Should be OK, most big vendors are fine.

> I've found plenty of resources about space buckets on this subreddit and the website, but not much on the actual process of growing Marijuana inside of a space bucket. Apart from the setup, is there any difference in the process of growing Marijuana inside of a space bucket and growing it another way? Is there any sort of guide or subreddit dedicated to what's needed to go from seed to harvest you can point me towards?

Check the bucket plant guide for tips from the community. The best kind of experience will be your first hand experience. You should expect to kill some plants before mastering the proccess. In a Space Bucket, the main challenge is keeping the plant as short as possible. If you keep it low the lighting will be more effective, and the flowers more awesome.

> Any general advice? Anything I'm missing?

DETAILS ON SET UP

Light: Roleadro 300W LED light

Fan and filter: ipower 4" inline fan with carbon filter (my roomates are worried about the smell

Tent: Millard 30" x 18" x 36" tent

Odds and ends: A digital timer to schedule lights

A fan speed controller

3-gallon smart pots

A humidity and temp sensor

Plus a small clip on fan.

GROW DETAILS

I have three different strains, Northern Lights, Pre-99 big bud, and pure power plant, and then an unknown seed(which I planted about two weeks ago as the previous unknown seed turned out male, see previous post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/microgrowery/comments/5qo1yo/early_sign_of_balls_details_in_comments/0. One in each 3-gallon smart pot. For the first two weeks of growing I had an 18/6 light schedule, and then switched to 12/12. (I'm essentially doing 12/12 from as early as the plant could respond to the change in light schedule). Over the past 15 days I watered twice with tiger bloom nutes.

I definitely made the mistake of not listening to your advice when I originally posted and am trying to grow 3 plants in a 1.5X2.5X3 foot tent...It is getting crowded, I should've listened and stuck with one, maybe two plants. Other than that I haven't had any problem that I have noticed other then a few spots of damage on leaves occasionally but no pests or wilting. I'm sure there are things I could've done better though. Thank you for all your help, I can't wait to get to harvest.

Hello there, I recently started growing and purchased all new items. The fan you chose simply won't work. You will be very disappointed in the performance. I was going to use that fan as an inflow booster with a pre-filter. I quickly returned it because it just did not move enough air. The fan could not create positive pressure in the tent. I then tried this fan: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01M7S46YZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1495901534&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=4+inch+inline+fan&dpPl=1&dpID=41G0I96VBVL&ref=plSrch

I ended up returning that one as well because it was advertised as 200cfm and it was not moving anywhere near the same air amount as the first fan I bought. I then broke down and bought the same fan I originally purchased as my outflow fan and filter. I bought just the fan for 56.00 as an inflow fan and put a pre-filter on it.

I got this off of Amazon a couple of weeks ago and my wife is smoking in my tent using it. I can stand a foot away from it while she's bonging out and not smell a thing. I like it so much I bought another one so she can keep her 'smoke shack' and I can use the new tent and filter system as my flower room https://www.amazon.com/iPower-Inline-Carbon-Ducting-Ventilation/dp/B00D7M6692/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1536844206&sr=8-3&keywords=4%22+carbon+filter+system

u/traptito · 2 pointsr/GrowingMarijuana

Well, I wouldn't buy a tent kit/package. You could go with a 24"x24" tent like this one then buy your light and carbon filter/inline fan seperate.

iPower is a good inexpensive brand to start with for your fan/filter. A 4" fan is more than enough for that size.

As for your light a Quantum board leds are the most efficient lights out now but Cobs (chip on board) are great too.

Add a little clip fan for air circulation and you're all set!

u/chocolatemilkmurder · 2 pointsr/microgrowery

Here is the cheapest all in one package on amazon. Fan is 190 cft and 48 decibels. https://www.amazon.com/iPower-GLFANXINL4FILT4MD8C-Exhausting-Pre-Filter-Reversible/dp/B00D7M6692/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497493628&sr=8-1&keywords=duct+fan+carbon+filter You would probably want a fan speed controller with this too.

Well if an ounce is all you want, check out /r/SpaceBuckets. I could never get myself to do it as growing a weed plant, even just 1, is a huge investment of your time, resources, and effort. I think about it like: If I can get 1-2oz from a spacebucket in the same 3-5 months time, why not invest money that'll make itself back twice over just the first grow (even if you dont sell any, to me getting 1000$ of weed from my grow is making my 1000$ back but ima stoner lol)
and spend my 3-5 months growing 16-20oz.

Ya know? But I can understand why some people can't or dont want to.

edit: here's some links

nice sale on the tent i use right now, these are HIGH QUALITY, only tent ive found is better is gorilla but even then they both have their own pros and cons:
https://www.amazon.com/VIVOSUN-Hydroponic-Obeservation-Window-Growing/dp/B01DXYMQ9M/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1493165611&sr=8-4&keywords=2x2+grow+tent

roleadro 300w led

https://www.amazon.com/Roleadro-Upgrade-Developed-Spectrum-Generation/dp/B01HI3AFYM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493165668&sr=8-1&keywords=roleadro+300w

fan and xarbon filter: https://www.amazon.com/iPower-GLFANXINLINE4-Hydroponic-Conditioning-Pre-wired/dp/B00D7M6692/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493165639&sr=8-1&keywords=4%22%2Bexhaust%2Bfan%2Bfilter&th=1

you would still need soil and all the odds and ends pieces still though.

u/smokeweedalleveryday · 1 pointr/microgrowery

Great, so I'm looking at this set for my ventilation needs if I do decide on a 3x3 tent. Still not sure about which LED light would be sufficient and of good quality though.

u/FargusFaustmeister · 1 pointr/SpaceBuckets

I imagine you could purchase these activated charcoal sheets that you can cut to size! Tape a plate with a hole over it and you should be able to cut any size you want. The fan you spec'd looks like it should be able to handle the load that the charcoal filter will cause (it is going to be like trying to breathe through a straw rather than just your mouth).

Another option would be something like this where you have an all in one filter/blower system. It's more money but it will handle all that obstruction better. Alternatively you can go to a harware store and buy an inline duct booster. You should be able to control the fan speed with a big triac or possibly PWM signal.

u/MrsMadHatter04 · 1 pointr/microgrowery

I found this, not Phresh, but it had good reviews compared to the Ventech I have seen recommended on here. I will def look into the Phresh though! Thanks! Edited to ask your opinion on the fan/filter combo or if you have experience with it at all. :)

u/Alec9Grows · 1 pointr/microgrowery

I am not really sure. I am in the US, but if I were going to get a fan and filter right now I guess i'd get something like this.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D7M6692/ref=ox_sc_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AXC6VLRHTOFD2

So yea $250 seems like a lot, but with the controller and what not I don't really know.

They actually have a good picture on that amazon page of how you can set up the filter/fan.

u/sickofmakingalts · 1 pointr/microgrowery

I see, thanks for explaining. Looking at inline kits, is this one you think would work? And does the space the inline lead too have to have fresh air? Since its a tent that will be in a closet.

This is a full kit I found, do I need everything that's there?

Or can I get something like this with some Aluminum Ducting? Seems to be cheaper, is a filter 100% necessary? Smell for me isn't something that needs to be concealed.

https://www.amazon.com/iPower-Booster-Inline-Exhaust-Grounded/dp/B008N4QIZG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1525534299&sr=8-3&

u/QuadragintaDuo · 1 pointr/microgrowery

I went with this combo as it was relatively inexpensive:
https://smile.amazon.com/iPower-Inline-Carbon-included-ventilation/dp/B00D7M6692

In hindsight I probably would not recommend this one because the fan is a lot noisier than I would like. The filter itself is performing just fine though.

u/gr33nhand · 1 pointr/microgrowery

hey YOU, all this information is in the sidebar or can be easily googled and your shipost comes across particularly shitty.

but, just so this bleeding heart subreddit doesnt call me an asshole for telling you the truth, buy a couple of these lights , prob need like a 4x4 tent at least, you need an exhaust fan with a carbon filter like this

u/esinohio · 1 pointr/microgrowery

I found this over at Amazon. Right under your price point I think. Prime shipping available if you're in a hurry.

u/shadowonyx23 · 1 pointr/SpaceBuckets

Carbon filter eliminated nearly all odor. I went the first 3 or so weeks without it, then the smell started coming on strong as it was starting to preflower. Bought the filter and it was night and day. Highly suggest it.

To stay low budget, you could use PC case fans. It depends on how stealth you need to be. If you need a filter for the smell, you might have to go with a legit ventilation kit which would be another $100 on Amazon. like this one
