That sounds (and looks) nice.
If you like the Jam, you should check out the JBL Flip the sound quality is world's apart, and a longer battery life.

It's above your price range, but I've been 100% satisfied with my JBL Flip. It's got enough power that you can get good sound with it still inside your bag. It can do Bluetooth or aux input. Lasts probably 4-5 hours and is louder than some stereos you plug in. I've turned it up full while playing to test it out - you'll bother other players it's so loud. About the size of a Coke can

I heard that this one is nice but I have never tried it. JBL makes good speakers.

I am looking to buy a portable speaker for listening in the kitchen, around the house, maybe outside, etc. and, while I know these will not be the best sound quality, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with, or could recommend, any of the following:

JBL Flip Portable Speaker

Soundfreaq SFQ-04 Sound Kick Bluetooth speaker

Jabra Solemate

Or if you know of something better. let me know! It doesn't have to be portable, but it does need to be able to connect to a Samsung Galaxy S4, and I would prefer a somewhat small system. I'm not looking to spend more than $150, $200 at the most. I'm definitely a newbie, and I am not very familiar with good products out there.

Some bands I listen to that indicate the type of music I would be playing: Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Devotchka, Bombay Bicycle Club, Vampire Weekend, Future Islands, Baths, The Shins, Washed Out, Beach House, Philip Glass, as well as some classical music.

Any help is appreciated!

I have this:

I would not describe it as "audiophile quality" gear but it's quite good for what it is. When I was shopping around for one, it seemed to have the best sound in its class; the "beats pill" sounded good too, but cost almost twice as much, and the rest were not so great IMO (in my limited store test).

It can actually get pretty loud, even outside... the mids and highs are solid and the bass is pretty good too albeit a bit hollow. Overall, for the price, I give it a 4.5/5, with the .5 off being for the kinda short battery life of ~3-5 hours, but you can plug it in while you're using it too. It has a line input that should work with an ipod classic.

They do also make one that has a longer battery life, which I think has the same speaker tech.
