Your graphics card is an onboard chip with 8 shader cores. It's 6 generations old. You cannot play anything with that.

An HD7770 has 640 GCN shader cores. It's about 5000% faster than your current.

If you can afford it, I strongly recommend a Core i3 3220 or 3210, the cheapest B75 motherboard from MSI, AsRock, Gigabyte or Asus and then an HD7750 (With 1GB DDR5 RAM) or HD7770.

You also need new RAM, since DDR2 cannot be used in new motherboards.

just so it's easy to understand... the pieces you need to buy are:

RAM: http://www.amazon.de/Kingston-KVR13N9S8-Arbeitsspeicher-240-polig-DDR3-RAM/dp/B008CP5Q7M/ref=sr_1_46?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1377117934&sr=1-46&keywords=4GB+DDR3

Graphics http://www.amazon.de/Sapphire-11192-14-20G-Grafikkarte-Radeon-Speicher/dp/B005G4XC8W/ref=sr_1_11?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1377099672&sr=1-11&keywords=HD7750

CPU: http://www.amazon.de/Intel-i3-3220-Prozessor-Cache-Sockel/dp/B008F65MO0/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1377118100&sr=1-2&keywords=Core+i3

PSU:

The CPU is 2½x faster, the graphics card is 32x faster faster. The PSU is of very high quality and can be reused for the next 7-10 years.

___

You can also choose to use this graphics card instead, if your budget is higher:

http://www.amazon.de/Gigabyte-Radeon-Grafikkarte-Speicher-miniDP/dp/B008FPJ8DC/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1377118335&sr=1-6&keywords=HD+7770

It is 50x faster than your current graphics card.

Any questions?

Hey i was wondering if any one could help with this, I haven't built my own pc in over a decade (that makes me feel old now) and one of my ram sticks died so i'll be sending it for an RMA.

My problem is i don't want to go 2+ weeks without my computer so i was going to pick up some cheap ram just for day to day running until i get my ram back. My mobo is a sabertooth z97 mk2 but i wasn't sure if this ram is compatible and i can't check with pc part picker in work.

Ram:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-KVR13N9S6-Non-ECC-240-Pin-Memory/dp/B008CP5Q7M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1523454208&sr=8-2&keywords=ddr3%2Bram&dpID=41qZcy%252BroOL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch&th=1

I dont really care about the speed or actual amount of ram i just want to get some use out of my computer while waiting.

Also, that processor you refer to... probably around $10. Max $40.

1-4 gb ram? $20 retail: http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-1333MHz-PC3-10600-Non-ECC-KVR13N9S8/dp/B008CP5Q7M but getting it embedded directly onto your PCB in builk has got to be a lot cheaper than that.

3000mah lipo battery at retail? $7

Alright, so switching to 8GB of RAM is probably my best bet without having to invest in a ssd. Dumb question as I am not very familiar with adding RAM to laptops: will something like http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-1333MHz-PC3-10600-Non-ECC-KVR13N9S8/dp/B008CP5Q7M work on my T440s? I have the 64 bit version of Windows 8.1 btw. Thanks everybody for the great help.

> Also, mylogic was that I could buy 2 or 3tb HDD for the price of the mentioned SSD and that the benefit of having heaps of storage would outweigh the faster performance.

It is indeed a trade off. Blazing speeds or a lot to store... I keep mainly used programs on my SSD and videos/music on my HDD.

>A few more questions, can I put the HDD and SSD in the computer, would having 3tb of storage space and slowly filling it up sllw my computer down?

No, it would not. Installing a lot of programs that start after login into windows would do though.

> PSU:

Can you check if that PSU has two of these connectors? The color of the wiring is irrelevant.

A few suggestions.

  1. More RAM! 4GB bare minimum. You will run into lots of problem with minimum specs on games not to mention general performance issues with less than 4GB. Plus its not too much more expensive than 2GB

  2. Power supply. In my opinion it is overkill in terms of power plus it is way too expensive for what it is. I'd recommend this, or if you want to stick with the overkill you can go with the 600W for $5 more.

3)Video Card- I think you can get a lot more performance for even less money with this r7 260x. It kills the 650 in gaming benchmarks and for less money. It will easily get 60+ FPS on med to low settings in 1080p games. In my opinion it is a no brainer.
  3. Case- don't forget something to put all your shiny new hardware in (I'm sure you didn't but just in case)

This is a build I threw together real quick.
