Because I'm bored and do this for a living I'm going to put together an alt build for you:

Nice entry level Skylake gaming Mobo (I've used this, it's nice, has USB 3.1 which will be very helpful in the coming years for data transfers)

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Gaming-Skylake-Motherboard-H110M/dp/B01B4U47E4/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486579857&sr=1-2&keywords=lga+1151

Processor: G440

https://www.amazon.com/Intel-BX80662G4400-Pentium-Processor-FCLGA1151/dp/B015VPX05A

RAM (only 8GB but get 16 if you can afford another $40 or so)

https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-2133MHz-Non-ECC-HX421C14FBK2/dp/B00TY6A1P0/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486579959&sr=1-5&keywords=DDR4

Video card:

RX 470 OC edition, I like this card great bang for the buck:

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Radeon-RX-470-ARMOR/dp/B01N3TCNNW/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486580034&sr=1-1&keywords=RX+470+4gb

SSD: budget one, but way better than a spinning drive:

https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-240GB-Internal-SP240GBSS3S55S25AE/dp/B01M61OWRI/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486580111&sr=1-1&keywords=240gb+ssd

Power supply:

no reason to spend more with this build:

https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Warranty-Power-Supply-100-N1-0400-L1/dp/B00LV8TZAG/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486580138&sr=1-1&keywords=400+watt+power+supply

Case:

https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-VERSA-Micro-Gaming-Computer/dp/B01CLIZ698/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1486580162&sr=1-5&keywords=micro+atx+case

total cost of build is roughly:

Mobo ($70)

CPU ($60)

GPU ($170)

RAM ($70)

SSD ($60)

PSU ($30)

Case ($40)

So total is roughly $500 and with this build you have a great upgrade path, which you won't have at all with the one you proposed.

get a RX470 some of the OC ones almost match the RX480.

this one https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Radeon-RX-470-ARMOR/dp/B01N3TCNNW/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483053320&sr=1-2&keywords=rx470

costs as much as a 1050Ti and beats it clean acrodding to this review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=136_Z8u03tk and many many more.. its almost not even a fight. Oh and the RX480 4GB is only a bit slower than the 8GB one, so no reason to even consider any GTX1060.

u/sovereign007 · 2 pointsr/eGPU

The RX470 is pretty much the best bang-for-the-buck card right now. Here is an excellent option for pretty cheap.

u/Chrome_Reflexx · 2 pointsr/buildapc

How would a MSI RX 470 Armor be priced at $150 after rebate? https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GAMING-RX-470-4G/dp/B01N3TCNNW?th=1&psc=1

u/I_Like_WOUH-FM · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I was looking at the Mobo. It supports 2-way AMD CrossFire. Would it be better to go the RX470 route, and run two of them?

I don't know how the pricing works out in Brazil. But in the US, I can get two RX470 cards for less than one 1080ti

edit:formatting

u/destinistos · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

For pretty much the same price as the expensive one, you can get An RX 470, which should perform 60%~ better over the 1050ti.
I'd even recommend getting it over the $150 1050ti.

u/Gonadventure · 2 pointsr/buildapc

RX 460 or GTX 1050

I would choose between these two GPUs. Again, either choice will be more powerful, less expensive, and more efficient than any GTX 950.

*The 460 and 1050 are basically identical in performance.

Edit: If you're looking to spend in the $160 range, I'd highly recommend an RX 470. Here is one for 145 after a rebate. This gpu is much more powerful than the 460/1050 and is nearly as powerful as the 480/1060 for a fraction of the price.

Edit: And here's an RX 480 on sale for $160 after rebate. That's stupidly cheap for a 480, so I'd highly highly recommend picking up on this sale if you're looking to spend $160.

u/LEDlightning · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Can the 470 run crysis? Yes it can run crysis, even on very high quality avg 52 fps.

All games honestly run fine, even with high to ultra settings (60 fps or higher).
There is a msi rx470 4gb dual fan on amazon now for only 145$ (after rebate) That is 50$ cheaper than the cheapest gtx 1060 3gb:
https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Radeon-RX-470-ARMOR/dp/B01N3TCNNW/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1485177531&sr=1-2&keywords=rx+470+4gb

In Overwatch on Ultra you will get about 130 fps on avg with this system.
Smite and league is of course no problem at all.

Some random games (rx 470 4gb fps avg):

Batman High: avg 85 fps

Doom Ultra: avg 151

Far cry Primal: avg 70

The withcher high: avg 70

Total warhammer Extreme quality: avg 60

Battlefield ultra: avg 78

I'm currently a bit lost as to which AMD video cards do and don't support freesync technologies. According to the AMD website only a select few video cards actually support the technology although I found this awfully hard to believe considering how many people purchase video cards like the rx 470 and 480 (which were not listed on the list of compatible cards). I'm currently trying to build an affordable PC with one of the new ryzen cpus and am wondering if I can purchase the RX 470 4gb and use freesync. In the questions answered section of the amazon listing for this card I found a post saying that it was capable of using freesync.

That's weird. It must be a regional thing then. I managed to get my 470 for £150, and a 1050Ti costs about the same.

I think this is a pretty good deal in the US.

I'm buying the last 2 parts for my first build (gpu and ram) and I have a couple questions.

Is speed the main thing to be looking at in ram, besides size? Will 8gb of Team Vulcan ram be much different from 8gb of Corsair ram of the same speed?

Which of these RX 470s is the most worth it considering I'm already pushing my budget? What kind of differences will I see between them? (I'm assuming mainly cooling)

So, knowing what you know which card would you be on the lookout for? I don't mind waiting a bit in hopes it goes on sale. The card I have still works, sort of... It just lags and crashes games sometimes lol. The 480 req. 8 pin. I'm not seeing anything on the 470, does it not need one? It's on sale on Amazon for 170 ish bucks.

Linking stuff in this forum is ok right? I didn't see it say it wasn't.

Hi again,

I have commited to the 6850k.

  1. ~$200

  2. I don't need it new and can be used.

  3. All I need the video card to do is enable 3 monitors (2 monitors have DP and HDMI, while the third Monitor has DVI and VGA) to work with. Maybe so casual video editing if I absolutely have to (premiere Pro CC) and I don't think I'll be playing games until I get at least 1 1080.

Since I am using the Rampage V E 10, integrated graphics is not an option as you have stated.

So far a gt 440 or RX 470 seems to be a good alternative for the time being. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Edit: Looking to get this for now thanks to everyone's advice.

$700 is a bit tight for some of the newer games, this is the best i could come up with that fits reasonably close to that.

AMD FX-8350

Corsair H75

Gigabyte AM3+ 990FX

corsair vengence pro 2x4

MSI radeon rx470

corsair r500

EVGA 500w

i would recommend you wait a month or so in case the price of AM3+ stuff drops due to the ryzen being released, if that happens you might be able to afford an rx480

u/Smacpats111111 · 1 pointr/buildapc

There are lots of GPU options around this area, mostly Radeon RX cards. The RX 470 starts at $170 and is a fairly solid card. The 480 8 GB model costs $220, but is much better. If you can stretch $20 over $200, get the 480 with 8 gigabytes, if you can't, get the 470.

The monitor is still around $200, which is pretty expensive(ish?) to me. I decided to move down to this 470:
amazon.com/dp/B01N3TCNNW/

I use Prime so the price is lowered to around 175 USD$

I'll look into the monitor, and just see if there is anything slightly cheaper, like a 60 hz version if that is even available... But it looks pretty solid.

Thank you.

Four removals because the links don't like me. :(

u/MrTechSavvy · -1 pointsr/buildapc

Well I agree with everything except the 1050. The 470 can be had for less than $20 more than some 1050/1050ti's, but the 470 is soo much better. And a skylake i3 can handle a 480, 1060. I know you probably weren't meaning that the pentiums can't handle a better card, but that a 1050 would match a budget CPU, if you can get a 1050 under $100.

$159 - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3TCNNW/?tag=pcpapi-20

Wow. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MA62JSZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1484054528&sr=8-9&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=1050
I was gonna post this for lols, but why tf would someone pay $200 for a 1050ti?? A 480 can be had for that price. And a 480 is so much better than a 1050ti that it negates the purchase even for a gsync monitor. Wow.
