Orient Ray II i Orient Bambino

Hamilton Jazzmaster

Tissot Visodate

its not sapphire, but Orient bambino V1 for cheap

there are TONS that fit that description though. Seiko has a bunch of models if you are willing to spend the cash

Seems like he likes simplistic design... Junkers Bauhaus is normally a hit with that crowd. Orient Bambino or Sun and Moon are solid options. Seiko also has like a million good options as well as Bulova which probably has the only skeleton watches in your price range. A common trap people new to watches fall into is worrying too much about straps/bracelets. These are easily replaced and relatively inexpensive, so you should shop for the watch you want and then buy a good band for it.

Casio Sapphire LTP - has the benefits of a quartz watch with a dressy, minimalistic style and even has a sapphire crystal which provides much more scratch resistance over mineral glass.

Orient Bambino - There are many versions of the Bambino (my favourites being the gen 2 version 2 and the gen 2 version 1) available. These sport automatic movements over quartz movements, but they are so classy and are very versatile.

Seiko SNE039 - Not a commonly recommended watch, but this Seiko has the benefit of a quartz movement, and charges via solar energy. You can't get more versatile than black on steel.

Edit: Rather than looking for a watch that comes with a leather strap, buy a watch that suits you perfectly, and then buy a leather strap separately. You can swap the strap out yourself, or go to a local watch maker or jeweler and they could probably do it for you.

It looks like a new one is $126 on Amazon, which may explain the slow response. Of course, depends how much people value the extra strap.

try orient's bambino v2-- retails for $170 on amazon canada. my friend was in the exact same shoes as you (20-ish y/o engineering student, wanted a watch that could go with a simple button up but also won't look too out of place if he dresses casually) and i recommended this to him, which he loved! i know it's not the metal mesh strap that you're looking for but straps can be changed out easily. he did comment that the strap felt a little crappy, so you could either swap it out for a mesh (not sure if it'd look good though) or purchase a decent leather one off etsy. good luck!

You don't want someone to handle it for you. Not only will you be forever dependent on someone else, but another person's first prerogative is going to be to sell you something. If you want to look more put together, then learning how yourself is half the battle.

For clothes, focus on high quality, versatile, basics that FIT WELL. Fit is 80% of the game. Buy items you can keep for years and spend a few bucks to get them tailored. Google "minimalist wardrobe" or search reddit for "basic bastard." Nice pairs of dark jeans, indigo jeans, couple chinos in versatile colors (olive, blue, khaki). Oxford button down shirts in white, blue, and a couple subdued patterns (stripes, plaids). Polo shirts (no garish logos) and t-shirts in blues, grays, black, white. Sweaters in camel, blue, gray, burgundy. Pairs of boots, white sneakers, and brown wingtips. Basic leather belt. That will cover 95% of situations.

Get a classic automatic (NOT BATTERY) watch. Either a steel strap black/white face diver or a leather strap, plain black/white face watch. The first one is more casual, but works fine with a suit. The second one is more formal, but works fine with jeans. Orient for cheap, Hamilton for mid budget, Rolex/Omega for big budget.

Carry a classy pocket knife. Get a nice leather wallet. Find a pair of sunglasses that fits your face shape. Don't need any other accessories.

Find a real salon and drop a few bucks on a haircut. The stylist should be able to help you based on your face shape. Can also help with facial hair. Find a celebrity that has a similar head/face shape and see if you can find a picture of them with a hairstyle you like.

Take care of your skin. /skincareaddiction has guides. Wear cologne. Go to a store like Nordstrom or Sephora and smell a bunch and see what you like.

I'm not a hairy guy so idk. Does it matter?

Dress watches are typically worn on leather, with little to no complications such as this.

So if you want something formal, go for a dress watch and match the leather strap to the color of your belt/shoes, but since it's a graduation and I'd imagine afterwards you'd like to wear the watch pretty often, I think you're looking for a sports watch.

The orient bambino line is a pretty popular watch for the price. Lots of different options on amazon for like $120ish. Other brands to look at are the cheaper seikos and maybe timex. The new timex marlin is 34mm and can be purcahsed for like $170 on timex's website sometimes.

Yeah, your least expensive quality automatic should be a Seiko 5 (they also have them in different colors - off white/tan, green, blue). It is more of a casual everyday watch. The Orient Bambino is a really nice looking budget dress watch, also. I have a Bambino and the Seiko Presage that this post is about, and both are automatics with hand winding which is nice and convenient.

I'd wait for the silver/blue version to go on sale again. I've found brown watches in general to be tricky when it comes to finding a good strap to go with them (since oem straps are typically junky, I usually replace mine immediately), as it's hard to get a good match/coordination between the leather and dial colors. The metal color is gold, too, which I usually shy away from. I think you may get bored with this one, and you'll regret having spent the $$$ on it instead of a nicer watch when the time arises. The silver and blue is better looking, and will be more versatile (a definite plus when spending this much on a watch), plus you'll have many, many more strap options.

Edit: If you like this style, definitely check out the Orient Bambino. I have the one with the gray dial, and it's awesome. The Gen 2, Version 1 is similar to this Seiko in dial appearance. There's a reason Bambinos are so popular. Considering they're less than half the price of this Seiko, I think you could pick one up (or even 2 for that price!) with 100% confidence.
