PNY 1060 6GB Has been working fine, owned it for a year and a half with +200 +500. Temps are a non-issue.

Of course it's not a 1080 but still wanted to chime in.

My card: https://www.amazon.ca/PNY-GeForce-1060-Graphics-VCGGTX10606PB/dp/B01IR5MR32/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1540662340&sr=8-2&keywords=pny+1060&dpID=41TMLgX2BdL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

$269 back in the day. :S

This is actually kind of misleading information. I apologize. You will find it very difficult to pair a Quadro with a GTX Geforce card. It won't work, and workarounds are more of a headache than worth the time.

I suggest a GTX 1060 which will run Resolve just fine. You just lose the ability to output to 10bit. I'm not sure you really NEED 10 bit output for video editing. If you do, and require it, you're only option is a Quadro or AMD Firepro. But you really can't have both in a single box.

But I'd really love to know if it can. nVidia does do something called Maximus, a combo of Quadro & Tesla. I'd really like to know if a 1060 paired with a K1200 would be a killer combo. If you've got the guts and patience... I'd say for it!!!

You can upgrade the video card to a GTX 1060 like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/PNY-GeForce-1060-Graphics-Card/dp/B01IR5MR32/ref=sr_1_10?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1474480679&sr=1-10&keywords=geforce+gtx+1060

Your price will go up by $44 and you will have a better video card:
http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-RX-470-vs-GeForce-GTX-1060

EDIT: Oh, and lower your power usage by 40W, since you were wondering about the PSU

Unless you have a really cheap motherboard the RX 480 should be just fine especially since they tweaked the firmware to solve that problem. Plus that's only for the reference card, if you went with an aftermarket card that had and 8 pin instead of a 6 pin you wouldn't have to worry about it at all.

this card is a great choice, with a good cooler, an 8 pin connector and Sapphire has a great reputation. Unfortunately it's $270, and is one of the cheapest available RX 480s

If you wanted to go nVidia then this GTX 1060 should do just fine, for $250

The 1060 doesn't really heat up enough to require a fancy cooler. I've done just fine with my PNY. Save the $20 and go for the cheapest.

Also the RX 480 is definitely a decent alternative and you can save even more $$.

I just built this for something to keep me out of trouble, didn't really expect to make any money, maybe free heat in the winter. So far I'm pleasantly surprised it's making ~$40 weekly (at rates as of today, lol) after deducting power costs. No sure how long it will last at that rate, but I'm having fun. Got one more 8pin (to dual 6pin) corsair type 3 cable arriving next week, then will be able to throw another card in there (PSU has six 8pin ports). Making about 100+ RVN daily right now, probably gonna look for newer coins once in awhile and just HODL them all and see what happens...that's my stragegy so far.

I was very surprised how well the 3 front fans do only being 800 to 1000 RPM, then again I don't have monster GPUs in this rig, just 6pin 1060s. Heat did NOT increase after closing the top, BUT I had to remove the front door because it cut down airflow too much and things heated up very quickly. Mining X16 seems to keep heat / power usage down I guess? Haven't mined much else yet, I suspect ethash might be a different story.

EDIT: The four 1060 GPUs are only pulling 330 watts at the wall...pretty sweet. I haven't mined in years, I was predicting a lot higher.

i would get this card if u arnt worried about spending the extra cash to get the 6gb version but if u want to save some definitely go with the 3gb version but in my opinion it is smarter to get the 6gb

Any thoughts on specific models of the 1060 or price points?

I can get a PNY dual-fan here for ~300.

PNY 6GB. They also have lifetime warranty I believe.

I have this one.

https://www.amazon.com/PNY-VCGGTX10606PB-VGA-Graphic-Cards/dp/B01IR5MR32/

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GeForce-GTX-1060-6GT/dp/B01JGYEE3E/

These are practically identical and 10$ cheaper. The PNY seems to have a better heatsink too by the look of it, but hard to say without benchmarks - atleast on par.

using the pc part picker canadian site i found the msi armor 8gb 480 for about 320, and the pny 1060 for about 330. So you would say a 8gb 480 would still be better even if my main game is overwatch?

u/quintobytes · 1 pointr/IndianGaming

You can get PNY GTX 1060 OC 6 GB Edition for ~21k from Amazon Global Store

u/GonthorianDX · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

All that is different is the cooler.

You could go for a premium cooler like the MSI Gaming X or ASUS ROG Strix and have cool software integration or you could go for the budget cooler and save quite a bit of money.

I would have taken this one:
