I recently got this for 7800 INR after cashback and stuff . It is good i recommend it over 2 TB because of the value for money .

  1. Buy 4 TB Hard drive - https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-3-5-Inch-Internal-ST4000DM004/dp/B071WLPRHN
  2. Install https://www.plex.tv/
  3. Add library to Plex
  4. Happiness
Free version of plex works just fine. Can be used on other devices as well.

Amazon has the same deal right now - $84.99 (No discount code necessary)

Most major sellers sell drives at about the same prices. Id just buy from who has the model you want the cheapest. Sometimes there shipped wrong, but thats normally chance, and not company policy. The hdd boxes also have plastic to reduce impact.

What drive do you want.

If you just want more storage on a desktop, id get a drive like this https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-3-5-Inch-Internal-ST4000DM004/dp/B071WLPRHN/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1517779962&sr=1-3&keywords=4tb+hdd&dpID=513zQrsJZqL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

Grab this one instead: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-BarraCuda-3-5-Inch-Internal-ST4000DM004/dp/B071WLPRHN/

Same everything except it has 4x the cache.

This one is good if you're looking for an internal drive

Nobody buys 1TB hard drives anymore so replace the 1TB hard drive for a 4TB one. For twice the money you get four times the space. -LINK-

I need a new HDD to replace an old one. There's a bunch of options out there, but it seems to get limited/expensive when I filter to 7200RPM, except for Seagate BarraCuda.

Question: do Seagate drives still have a bad reputation for reliability? Can't find too many recent report, except for one or two threads over at TomsHardware where one or two folks swore on their mother's grave that Seagate was terrible and anti-consumer.

Here's what I'm looking at as best price/performance combo. If there's anything better, advice is appreciated!

I was using the stock intel cooler for like 6 years xD.

And yea, I have 2 1TB drives from my current build that I am going to be moving over. I will likely reinstall Windows 10 on my SSD.

Might end up eventually getting rid of my 2 1TB drives and opting for something else like this

To make things easier:

OP already has (or has decided on)

  • CPU: i7 9700
  • Cooler: be quiet! 250W TDP Dark Rock Pro 4 CPU Cooler with Silent Wings - PWM Fan - 135 mm
  • PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 220-G2-0750-XR 80+ GOLD 750W Fully Modular EVGA ECO Mode Includes FREE Power On Self Tester Power Supply
  • SSD: SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen3. X4, NVMe 1.3 64L V-NAND 3-bit MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-V7E1T0BW
  • SSHD: Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSHD 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive ST2000DX002
  • Monitors: Acer predator xb271hu x2 already purchased
  • Keyboard: Corsair k95 RGB already purchased
  • Mouse: Logitech g602 already purchased

    OP needs help with

  • Case: full tower. Need help on this
  • GPU: 1080ti trio used. Where to find for reasonable price around $600?
  • Motherboard: ASRock Z390 Taichi LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel Z390 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard (need help on this too)
  • RAM: 32gb (16x2). Any suggestions? Please no RGB cause I've had friends saying that it uses lots of memory. More hassle than it's worth

    ---

    My suggestions:

RGB shouldn't use any memory at all. Maybe they mean the control program? I doubt that is an issue also and if you have 32 gigs, it won't be a big deal anyway so get whatever is cheapest. Don't avoid RGB for that reason.

Don't get the SSHD. If you have an ssd already (especially a 1TB one that you have listed) just get the cheapest largest hard drive you can get. Something like this is double the size and equally fast for what you'll be using it for.

Case: what are you looking for? Do you want a little window, just cheap with good cable routing?

How is this better than the 4TB Barracuda with 256 cache?

Edit: I know of know nothing about HDD's, just looking for something to store my movies and games on that I don't play off my SSD.
