I'm curious if you've ever had this one, and what you thought the Seiko SNK603.

On the fence.

I have never heard of the Edox brand.

I don't know your economic situation, but I would not recommend spending $1000 on your very first watch. You may decide you don't like bracelets and prefer a strap, or prefer another style or case size. You may decide you prefer the accuracy and simplicity of a quartz watch over an automatic.

Perhaps start out with something like this. A solar powered quartz watch that does not need battery changes like most quartz watches. Or something like this an automatic watch that uses a mechanical movement.

Even at their much lower price, I'd wager that either is at least equal to the Edox in terms of quality.

They run 40-60 bucks, that alone was worth it to me. I got mine (black 809) 2 years ago, replaced the canvas strap right away with leather and it was a great everyday/beater watch.

I just replaced the leather with a nato strap this week and regret even buying the leather strap.

If you are partial to metal bands I recommend this: SNK603 Blue textured face, little different than most other SNK models I've seen lately on this sub.

How is the Sarb anywhere near similar to that watch? Other than the hands there is no similarities there. The price difference is laughable too.

I would think these would be closer just based on the overall layout of the watch:

Option 1

Option 2

Hey fellow high-schooler! I too bought a Timex Weekender as my first watch and absolutely love it. My second watch that I bought was this Seiko.
I absolutely love it as it fit my needs of an automatic and stainless steel watch. Also the blue color on the dial changes as the light hits it and makes some really cool colors. It's only a few more dollars more than the Seiko you mentioned and I highly recommend it. Here's a pic of the [watch.] (http://i.imgur.com/5veCF6r.jpg)

I'm looking to get a Rodina also hopefully as a graduation gift later this year. Hope this helped!

I'm kinda liking this Tissot I saw on Joma. I kinda like that its a plated titanium and 40mm automatic with sapphire at the front for sure, and I think the back too. Ultimately I think I want a Tudor Black Bay Bronze but I absolutely love my current Seiko 5 The photos don't do it justice and neither does the bracelet but the case finishing and dial punch way above its price point. I agree with expanding too fast I got a Seiko SSA213J2 and didn't like its 41.5mm size and considerable height and ended up returning it.
Edit: I do have a Swatch Sistem51 Earth on the way because I majored in Manufacturing in college and love the idea of a completely machine made mechanical movement
