I would not use the supplied scope rings though for the dovetail mount that the Marlins have a "one piece" mount will grip it a lot better and not move on you. For example a lot of people use this UTG mount:

Gonna get downvoted to oblivion, but I picked up a Simmons ".22 MAG" scope from the Bushnell outlet here in town a few years back to put on a cheapo Remington 597. It was $10. It's not great by any means, but it's been absolutely fine for it's intended purpose.
