I had to Google this thing to see what the heck you're talking about.

I wouldn't recommend buying a taser that shoots prongs out. If those prongs fail to make proper contact with your target, your taser is now useless. It looks like this model has a stun gun built in as a backup, but at that point you might as well go with a cheap stun gun.
In terms of price and effectiveness, I would rather just purchase several pepper gel canisters and leave them in places such as your back pack, car door pockets, etc.

Whatever you decide to carry on campus, I would argument it with a high-power tactical flashlight. Simply walking around with a lit flashlight at night should be enough to give someone pause if they attempt to approach you while you're alone. A tactical flashlight will be able to switch to enough lumen output that you can blind someone with it well your retreat.

I'm a pretty big fan of the Streamlight TLR-1 HL.
Or if you prefer a more traditional style flashlight with a clamp, the Streamlight ProTAC with a clamp would work great as well.
Stay away from pressure switches, it's just another thing to fail when you need it most.
EDIT: That Choate stock is $80 plus shipping. That's 25% of the way to another gun...just something to consider when you are thinking about tricking out your shotgat!
Just went through this mental exercise myself recently, with the Glock 17 I have as the bedside piece.
After much deliberation, I decided to not put a light on the gun. I have a separate, small, "tac" flashlight I keep right next to it. Or even a small Mag lite.
I feel like that's a more practical solution for illuminating your surroundings without sweeping your gun everywhere (potentially in a ready-to-fire condition.). Gives you more options on how you want to hold and use it.
Also practical when 99.9% of the time if I hear a bump in the night it's just the wind blowing some crap around on my deck and I can take a quick peek out my window and light it up.
I got the Streamlight ProTac HL and I'm pretty happy with it so far. They have a variety of options which are in or close to your price range.
Maybe down the road I would put a light on my '17 itself, but I feel like that's not necessarily a replacement for just a standard light to have handy. Comes first for me.
I'm interested in trading/selling this flashlight- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007RB82CS/ref=oh_details_o00_s02_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Feel free to PM me
Check this one out, I got it and so far it's been awesome. They have another model that is rechargeable and comes with a car charger, wall charger, and a extra battery pack.

What others do you suggest? I was looking at the one here:

I felt like this was a good deal, what do you think?
Came here to say this, i have two of these stream lights in a drawer now..i now carry a EagleTac D25LC2. I also own the Streamlight 88040 ProTAC HL and i just cant stand throwing the money on CR123's like i did with those lights!
18650 ALL day everyday!
My guess is it would be fine, but my vote goes to a Streamlight ProTAC.
Streamlight HL
I didn't even know this was a thing....these make my 20 year old mag light look like just a club.

I would love one of these for everyday carry. Thanks
Get yourself a good purse that can carry a really bright flashlight, a big can of pepper spray (OC spray), and perhaps even a firearm. A really good one right now is the one just released by 5.11:
http://www.511tactical.com/lucy-tote-lx.html
if you want to carry a firearm in that purse, make sure you get the 5.11 velcro backed holster to go along with it:

I suggest UDAP bear spray for OC spray:

For a flashlight, I suggest either a Streamlight Protac
http://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-88040-ProTac-Professional-Tactical/dp/B007RB82CS
or a Fenix TK35UE(2015):

For a small firearm, Sig Sauer P238 in .380ACP (I suggest getting the stainless steel "HD" version for less recoil). If you want to go the .22LR route, my best recommendation, and a very simple to operate firearm, is the Ruger LCP in .22LR. If you use a .22LR gun, make sure you only use CCI 40 grain round nosed copper jacketed ammo.
Always remember that using something generally considered non-lethal, like pepper spray, ALWAYS comes with less repercussions, all-other-things-being-equal, than using a firearm. You can even "warning shot" with pepper spray, generally, with little to no repercussions.
If you really want a flashlight that uses CR123 batteries I really like my Streamlight ProTAC HL. Personally I am trying to keep most of my batteries as AA or AAA so I can use rechargeable Eneloop's. I still have a few things which use CR123's though so I stock them.
