karma, quick!

Having grown up with gastrointestinal issues, all I can say is: baby wipes. As for balancing your karma (which I totally believe is a thing), this contest is a good start, but what if you do that thing where you pay for someone's drink at Starbucks or whatever? You know, where you say you want to pay for the people behind you's order. Or even just go donate some stuff to a homeless shelter.

A weird/random thing happened this morning when I was taking my son to school. We only have one car and my husband drives it to work on the other end of the city, and there's no school bus because we're "under one mile as the crow flies" from the elementary school (which is almost 2 miles walking, since we can't fly), so we take the city bus.

So we're standing at the bus stop this morning, my 4 year old, 7 year old and myself, and the bus is stopped at the red light down the street, less than a block away, when this lady in an old pickup slows down in front of us while making eye contact and smiling at me, and proceeds to pull into the parking lot next to us. She then turns around and comes back to the entrance of the parking lot next to the bus stop, rolls down her window and asks where we're going, and offers all three of us a ride.

I've never seen this woman before, and she wants all four of us to fit in a 2 seater truck cab. I was like "We're getting on the bus," and gestured down the street. She was like, "But your kids are so cute, I thought they might like a ride."

"No thanks, we're getting on the bus now."

She left but my god, how creepy is that? Everything about it was weird. Who pulls up to a total stranger with small children and offers to cram all of them into a 2 seater vehicle? Skeeves me out just thinking about it again. My kids were weirded out about it too, and my son was particularly freaked because we've had multiple talks about stranger danger and how you never get in the car with anyone you don't know, etc. I think it blew his mind because it actually happened to us.

Another weird thing about this is that just yesterday morning I had a conversation with one of my son's schoolmates about stranger danger, because he walks to school on his own. He was telling me what his mom had told him, and I made sure I told him that if a car starts slowing down next to him when he's walking alone that he needs to run as fast as he can. sigh.

Edit: I forgot to add my thing! I like this knife cause it's sharp and double edged and stabby, but it has a finger hole in it so it would be hard to be disarmed. And I'm definitely thinking it'd be a good idea to start taking my son to school while armed.
