I love Scott Peck and I love The Road Less Traveled. It's sitting on my desk as I type this message (I got my very own hard copy just last week because my digital one was crappy for note taking). It's true what he says about discipline-- and maybe you could benefit from rereading it. I know that I have reread parts of the book many times and am looking forward to reading the entire book again and making notes in my new hard copy.

Discipline is VERY important and he would agree that with discipline you can do many things to improve your health. I also know that he talks about the importance of psychotherapy. He says that the only thing that separates people who seek therapy and those who don't is courage. If you can have courage and want to truly, truly change your behavior and your attitudes-- then seek out counseling.

With a good counselor you can address your issues of addiction and lack of discipline. You might benefit from other books such as The Seat of the Soul for your spiritual needs (and addictions), similar to Peck but far more spiritual, and The Life Cycle Complete! to better understand the developmental stages that happen when you choose a substance (food and weed) over spiritual growth.

You don't want to stay this way forever and that's obvious. You want to make a change but don't know how to stay committed. You can do it. Counseling is something that the brave embrace, not out of weakness, but out of strength. You could learn so much if you wanted to.

All my best wishes for you and your future!
