For campsite music I can't recommend this thing enough. The most powerful portable speaker I could find and runs on 8-D batteries. Was $350 last year, down to $230 now:

Coleman EZ-UP, I realize this one's is on the more expensive side but in my experience Coleman products are really great at being truly waterproof, no need for extra tarps and this one has LED lighting built in so no need for lanterns, etc:

Sanuk shoes with yoga mat lining. Especially crucial on days 3 and 4:

Portable Battery for cell phone charging with tons of juice for several phone fill ups:

That's all I can think of for now, it really is great being fully prepared for this event :)

I never see them added to these posts, but I have the Klipsch KMC 1, and it sounds pretty fantastic, for around $100-120 depending on sales. It's a little on the heavy side and not waterproof, so not the greatest portable Bluetooth speaker, but doesn't sound like that matters for your use.
It also looks like the top model, the Klipsch KMC 3, is at one of the lowest prices ever on Amazon. At the top of your budget, but seems well reviewed and has a remote, if that helps. (On mobile, so can't clean up the link. :/)

I've heard great things about these but haven't done a test myself.

Klipsch KMC 3

They have a couple different models in different size/price ranges.

They're a little pricey but if you're fine with using something like an mp3 player or a phone as opposed to an AM/FM tuner, I would seriously reccomend the Klipsch KMC-3. Solid build design, 130 watts, 105 db, clear as fuck sound.

Hey all,

This is probably uncommon for this subreddit, but I need help choosing a set of portable speakers/boombox for a friend. Primary use is for hip-hop dance practice in a parking lot.

Some possible options I found:

Klipsch Music Center KMC 3 - $400

Harman Kardon GO + PLAY II - $250?

Sony CFDG700CP Xplod - $325

JVC Kaboom! RV-NB70B - $???

SuperTooth Disco - $92

I'm not even sure if some of these are still available. Main priorities are loudness w/o distortion and decent treble and bass I think. Budget is flexible, but I don't want my friend overpaying, so the best value is preferred.
