You need a macrovision killer. Also known as a "video signal stabilizer". You can get the simple $30 ones, on up to the fancy ones that do s-video cables, rca cables, etc. https://www.amazon.com/XDIMAX-GREX-7-4-Grex-Video-Stabilizer/dp/B0096I2DNE

In the old days, high end audio/video places would have a bunch of em in the back, cash sales, you never got that from here stuff. Simply because, customers didn't care about copying, but they'd have a video mux and a bunch of other shit in between the source and destination of the video signal, and you'd get enough dropout from macrovision to make everything look shitty.

Disney tapes especially, kids play the crap out of em, and sooner than later, you get washout all over the damned place.

They also stabilize video signals on VCRs and other gear, in the event your one good old school hifi laserdisc, vcr, or some other video gizmo is on its last legs. You can crank out that one last copy of Heavy Metal off your cartridge laser disc player before the magic smoke escapes. :D
