🎓 Reddit experts on sports medicine products
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where sports medicine products are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
I have 10 Zaxcom ZMT3’s. ZMT3 is wildly comprehensive, timecode jammed internal recording, remote gain control, remote frequency control, remote transport control. The dynamic range is massive and the modulation is fully digital (50mw of pure digital is a whole other beast than 50mw analog or analog/digital hybrid).
I often hide ZMTs inside of hats and stuff. They are not cheap. You almost just have to buy them in a set (2 transmitters and 1 receiver) - that runs about 6,000$ new. Then you’ll need lavs. I use DPA 4063Core’s, those are 450$ each, plus you will need the Microdot to Lemo3 connectors.
7000$ for a set, but to do the remote gain, wireless jam, and the other remote control features, add the IFB200 (1350$)
8350$ to start.
It’s pretty much the most expensive possible route to go down for wireless mics. I assure you, I know.
So, I’m guessing that you don’t just have 8,000$ to spend on wireless. That means you need to get creative.
How often are the camera guys filming actors feet?
I often hide transmitter packs on ankles and thighs. I RARELY use a belt clip. I would recommend looking at Ursa straps (30$ each). There is also Neopax as well. Both are good. Over the years I have gained a big selection.
https://ursastraps.com/
https://www.neopax.biz/
Even another tool that is even cheaper...good old fashion bandage wrap. Works just fine and it doesn’t slip.
https://www.amazon.com/Cramer-Eco-Flex-Self-Stick-Self-Adherent-Compression/dp/B00IO3E1IW?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_8
So now you’ve got some straps or bandage wrap and thinking “Hey, this cannibal might be onto something here”. Look at the back of that G3 where the belt clip connects, those nubs. Those are gonna hurt.
Get these.
https://www.adorama.com/pscshushheel.html?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=adl-gbase
Take the belt clip off, then take one of the pads (like the 1”x1.5”), but that dead center of back of the G3. That offsets the surface so those nubs aren’t digging into your actor. Put in lithium ion AA (much longer run time) and wrap up that ankle or thigh.
I'm pretty well known for my 5k goal, and I'm well above the weight limit, heh. :)
I actually have a wishlist dedicated to my 5k/fitness goals! Most specifically, the Enduracool towel would be a really good thing for me, as I have a tendency to get overheated while running. Having something that would keep me cool would really help lots. :D
If he doesn't already have one:
Cramer RigidLite Tactical for Athletic Trainers https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BPRB87G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_5iOlybPJJFNZ1
I especially love this:
Benchmade Model 30210 - Houdini-Pro Rescue Hook Tool, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002YOI31S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_OkOlyb7A8968F
Water bottles, like contigo or blender bottles specifically that have plastic loops. I always feel like my hands are full and have to loop it on a finger.
Sunglasses and hats.
Athletic socks.
Dry fit polos
Long sleeve under armor
Anatomy Coffee Mugs
Finally there's a t-shirt that says I found this humerus. Look it up. My brother bought it for me for Christmas a while back. I did find it humorous. It's my favorite shirt.
I use these elbow pads:
https://www.amazon.com/Bodyprox-Elbow-Protection-Large-Sleeve/dp/B072B9KB4L/
They look like the're in between the triple8 stealth and exoskin pads. I also have the knee pads, but they're pretty bulky so most of the time I wear football knee/shin pads that are thinner but also give me that shin protection.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K69TGHF

Lately since its been cold I moved over to my rain pants that I bought for motorcycle riding and I LOVE onehweel riding in them. These aren't the exact ones I have because I've had mine for 10 years but they're similar: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LGX2WCS/

I took an unexpected low speed nosedive Saturday on a gravel logging road with those pants and elbow pads on. I fell straight on my side without catching myself at all and it was almost like jumping into bed it was that soft of a fall.
Johnson & Johnson sells an empty first aid bag that is free with the purchase of five J&J first aid items, or $5-10 on its own. I've seen it in grocery stores and drugstores.
Build Your Own First Aid Kit
I picked one up, and am pretty happy with it. It was easy to hit five J&J items between band-aids, gauze, tape, Benadryl and more band-aids. It is reasonably sturdy, light, and has useful pockets inside to keep things organized.
Camelbak is awesome, not only for water but to hold stuff! I picked up one of these science towels last year. It was amazing, but ended up losing it during Seven Lions' set. The girl I gave it to clearly needed it more than I did, so no hard feelings :)
I used to have a boil guard but then I saw a thread on here about Sisu mouthguards and have been super happy with my purchase. They're slimmer so you can still talk and drink with them in.
http://www.amazon.com/SISU-2-4-Guard-Electric-Blue/dp/B00ID8H38I/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1452185782&sr=8-3&keywords=sisu+mouthguard
This would be very helpful to massage out my knots or this to ice my feet after a long day at work. I stand 10-14 hours a day and I have joint issues so I need some help please!
My favorite color at the moment is purple. It recently changed to purple from pale yellow.
I use NipGuard for this very issue, and I love them. They work great.
I got these shin guards because I was always garfing up my shins, sometimes even while wearing long socks. Now I never lift unless I have these on, whenever I can help it (deadlift, clean, snatch). They've been quite effective.
They're thin and light. Some sort of flexible but durable plastic on the inside, sandwiched inside thin outside layers. Velcro closures at the top and bottom.
If I had to make one complaint, it's that there's no ventilation wherever they cover you, once they're on (the backs of your calves will be mostly uncovered). To be expected, considering the design. So without socks, you might get a bit sweaty; with socks, they might feel somewhat on the warm side. It's a tradeoff I'm willing to make to save my shins, but I can see some folks not being quite on board with that.
In case anyone's curious: the material isn't wearing thin at all at the usual bar contact points. I've had them for about a year now.
I gave up on that stuff because of the itchy blotchy bruised neck even though I didn't put any there ... and it gave me cystic chin acne when I didn't have any to begin with 🤷🏻♀️
Rosehip oil soothes dried out sore skin for me and going on the mini pill (cerelle) stopped hormonal chin acne. Might be worth buying an icepak to keep in the fridge, the woven koolpak ones are nice https://www.amazon.co.uk/Koolpak-Luxury-Reusable-Non-Woven-Sleeve/dp/B00I8N7BAI/
Have you tried the Salicylic Acid cleanser/toner from boots? It's still quite hefty but at least not itchy https://www.boots.com/boots-skin-clear-deep-action-cleanser-200ml-10246607
There's a lot of denatured alcohol but I think that really helps prevent spots from bacteria for me, and the Salicylic Acid helps both spots and clogged pores.
I have TMJ, using a double sided mouthguard and keeping my mouth shut helps. Good luck.
https://www.amazon.com/Shock-Doctor-Double-Mouthguard-Carbon/dp/B0054R6YVI/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1481008764&sr=8-6&keywords=double+mouthguard
OPro Power-Fit

Nice middle ground between a full blown custom and a regular mouthguard.
You mould it yourself at home, so it fits perfectly once it's set. Been using mine for Muay Thai/BJJ for about 10 months now, no issues.

ProTip: drink hot tea or water to warm up your teeth prior to moulding the guard in your mouth, it will save your chompers some pain.
I never used a skullcap, but my parents sent me this Mission hoodie instead. Worked like a charm under an ACH.
We've gotten these from a medical supply chain online or from people that work in health care, if you want I'll see if I can get a cheaper link.
We get nose tork pretty much exclusively from APT.
I haven't heard of GurneyGoo before, but the fact that it is durable on the body is great news. I see [Amazon has it.] (https://www.amazon.com/GurneyGoo-Anti-Chafe-Anti-Blister-Prevention-Waterproofing/dp/B00SQ1DQY2/)
Fixing your teeth will cost you a lot more than anything you save from cheaping out on a mouth guard. This is one of the pieces of equipment you should really buy the good quality stuff for.
Here's the one I use.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00181D7MI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought this super cute/compact first aid kit to carry, it has pretty much everything you would need, but I added wipes for bee-stings to it (which I have needed in the past on several occasions):
https://www.amazon.com/Small-Travel-First-Aid-Kit/dp/B06X9FMD9W/ref=lp_17871254011_1_1_a_it?srs=17871254011&ie=UTF8&qid=1543335471&sr=8-1

I also have these instant-cold ice packs, which work really well:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N43CCPA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I am happy with this mouth guard https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F2U1H64/ref=twister_B00GSN63IG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I tried it before and while your fabric won't be damaged, it didnt work very well (it was too sticky at first and then most of it came off on the silks I think). I really like those firm grip sprays they sell on amazon
https://smile.amazon.com/Anti-Slip-Enhancer-Activities-Gymnastics-Enhancing/dp/B01KTLRNJU?sa-no-redirect=1
The shirt material rubbing with every stride. That's why you are supposed to wear close fitting shirt and/or use nipple tape/protection like this
But in all seriousness, I think a tacky spray-on type of glue (safe on skin) exists.
Would something like this be what you're looking for?
https://www.amazon.com/Anti-Slip-Enhancer-Activities-Gymnastics-Enhancing/dp/B01KTLRNJU
I bought this mouthguard. It's excellent. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F2U1H64/ref=twister_B00GSN63IG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Before that I tried another brand that was terrible.
Do it. Just make sure to take care of your feet. Blisters suck, and running again on just healing blisters sucks more. Vaseline all over your feet before putting on your socks, or use this stuff. It's magical. I did 50 miles at WTM liberally applying this stuff. My knees were toast, but I got absolutely zero blisters on my feet.
https://www.amazon.com/GurneyGoo-Anti-Chafe-Anti-Blister-Prevention-Waterproofing/dp/B00SQ1DQY2/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1498161541&sr=8-1&keywords=gurney%2Bgoo&th=1
Not a brace, but if you ever need to ice (or heat) your ankle, this works so well. Envelopes your foot/ankle in cold - everything blue is gel that gets cold.

I bought these elbow pads after smacking my elbow too. Never looking back now.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072B9KB4L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is another type of substance he is referring to. Never heard of it before https://www.amazon.com/Anti-Slip-Enhancer-Activities-Gymnastics-Enhancing/dp/B01KTLRNJU
I've worn NipGuards for years after trying everything else...
