(Part 2) Reddit mentions: The best sports & outdoors clothing

I wear a bathing suit with shorts over my bottoms and no shirt over my bikini top.

I bought a swimsuit from target that I generally wear. It looks very similar to a sports bra, in that it is all one piece and no strings to tie.

I’ve only ever gone DWS less than a handful of times, but the shorts I generally wear are from this company called 90 degrees by reflex. They have their stuff on amazon.

I don’t remember the exact ones I have, but these look mostly similar to the ones I have.

They aren’t swimsuit material but it’s like that stretchy workout material. (Which I guess is pretty similar?)

I've spent a lot of money on leggings over the years but I have yet to find a pair that I truly love. I have multiple pairs of Lululemon Aligns and while they're super soft and high waisted, they are very long/loose at the ankle and I absolutely hate how delicate and revealing they are. My Athleta 7/8 Salutation are much better in terms of durability and length/ankle fit but they're a lower rise and unflattering on the tummy (regardless they are my current best). All Gymshark I've tried has been bad quality for price in my experience, same for Til You Collapse. P'tula Alainah is great in terms of fit and durability but gives me insanely bad cameltoe.

In general my ideal leggings would be 7/8 length, seamless waist, soft but technical, opaque, as high waisted as possible and not give me bad cameltoe! Any suggestions?!

Also, has anyone tried ColorfulKoala or CRZ Yoga on Amazon? I watched a video today and I'm really tempted to try these out. I'm particularly tempted by CRZ because they look exactly like the Align I (which were so much more flattering).

Functional (big) pockets! Lined hoods, with that basketball short kind of fabric! (Just make us guy hoodies with good big pockets, the headphone slit, lined hood, warm, then make 'em cute too!) That nice, silky, heavy nylon kind of fabric for nightgowns, that used to be used all the time for more expensive brands. (It had "cot" in the name. Tricot or something?) Soft, wide band elastic for waists. (Yoga/harem style waisted pants) Fabric that doesn't pill, especially the warm fabrics! Waist closures that don't use nickel! (No nickel period!) Fabric that doesn't bunch! Full, soft skirts with gentle elastic waistbands of varying lengths! (Just make sure the elastic doesn't twist/bunch either!)

I have a pair of leggings from Old Navy that day they are spandex and polyester but they are soft like cotton. If that's true, I got lucky, because everything else I get with that blend is "slippery". I think they were just brushed to make them soft not shiny, but there was no indication of this in the description when I ordered them. Target sells some leggings over by their regular women's clothes that are a blend, but feel cottony. I have found them to be see through in the bum under stretch though! 😂

I prefer high waisted, I do have a son and stuff has shifted. I found these on Amazon through trial and error, and they are thick, cotton blend and awesome!

Since they're high waist, getting them over my hips was precarious(similar to putting on compression leggings), so if you have a very pear shape, order a size up

I wear a sports bra, a fitted bra cami tucked in, and then a tank. This is a lot for some people, but multiple layers is my thing.

Bloch footless tights were my favorite for performing, soft and almost cottony, nearly opaque, thick and not slippery!

Appropriate clothing: stretchy and allows you to move freely. Women typically wear leggings/yoga shorts, and I've seen plenty of men wear basketball shorts and be fine. I'd pick a top that wasn't too baggy, unless you want to tuck it into your waistband during class.

Footwear: Most people go barefoot (especially if they bring their own mat). It is probably safe to wear socks during the class, though it might affect your ability to grip onto the mat. There are yoga socks, but I wouldn't worry about investing in those for your first class.

If the description doesn't specifically say, "class not intended for beginners," I think you should be good to go with no prior knowledge. Sometimes, gyms will mess this up, especially if they are small, and have the same group of people in every class, but your chances are good. In a lot of classes (again, in a smaller gym), if the instructor notices someone new, they'll go up and introduce themselves before class, and they might ask you about your previous experience. That would be a good time to let them know that you've never done yoga before. Again, in classes where it is the same group, the class may naturally progress to a more advanced level than the described level, so you may want to just chat with the instructor before the class.

Yoga pants: Expensive that look awesome and fit really well. Cheaper that fit pretty well and look cute. :]

Binder Do not recommend. It's asymmetrical on purpose (fastens on a side instead of back.) It feels soooo awkward.

Costume corset that is very cute and fits well.

Pink shoes that kinda fit but the elastic strap was too tight. I think they just need to wear in.

I wouldn't buy jeans or anything like that online. I buy bras from brands I already know. I buy stretchy things like yoga pants and t-shirts.

Well, I plan on getting married in a crop top wedding dress to show off my abs anyway, so I would wear a cute sports bra or bralette that could pass as a top. Something that looks like this, for example. Then throw on some nice looking leggings. Dancewear companies usually have pretty nice tops and bottoms!

I've always had a lot of luck with manduka yoga mats but I always put a towel on top of the mat to help with sweat resistance because I too slide around my mat. Yoga Paws have helped me alot! Here's a link if your interested. Also the yoga towel that I use it has corners that you can hook to your yoga mat so they don't slide or anything so hopefully those links well help :)

I basically only lift weights and do yoga and have circulation issues so I like the yogalicious brand $20 high waist leggings from amazon (I would link but I am on mobile). They feel like absolute butter and are the closest thing you can get to not wearing pants while wearing pants.

They are very warm though so I do not recommend for hot climates/cardio.

They are opaque, have a nice, big key pocket and are the most comfortable thing I have ever put on my body.

Bonus points for repelling dog hair and giving me minimal camel toe.

The colors are limited but they do come in crop, ankle, and full lengths.

I do not own a pair but have heard they are comparable to Lululemon Align leggings.

I signed up like 3 years ago, before it was common knowledge that the subscription service rips you off. I got a pair of leggings, a bra, and a tank top. The leggings are honestly some of my favorite, they're nice and thick and have some compression which I like. The bra wasn't even really a bra, it was like a loose tank top thing with too many straps. The tank top was also underwhelming. I quickly got rid of both.

Honestly, you can find similar quality leggings that you don't have to buy from a company designed to rip you off. I've tried several times to get my account deactivated and each time it still charges my credit card.

These are similar quality, similar price, and you can prime them.

I saw these on a reddit post and ordered and LOVE them. I am really feeling the ache from not having compression socks or Such on flights as have been traveling too too much. These were great and are DARK so you arent seeing through them. I am going to use for 3 months and see if I need another pair but for a recent 24 hr trek NY-Singapore they were great. They seem to breathe a bit so i wasn’t sweating up a storm and unlike socks which cut me right at the knee these are much easier overall

I think I’ve finally found my running gloves ! I struggle to wear anything at all on my hands when I run because I get terrible tingling around my wrists and down the backs of my hands. I can usually only make it a few minutes into a run before needing too strip them off no matter how cold or nasty it is outside. It could be the glove or it could be that I decided to tuck my sleeve to the cuffs creating a little buffer but I was able to run almost the whole 8 miles the other day in these! They tingled in the final mile more to overheating.

Also these pants are I think my favorite at least for autumn running. I haven’t picked up any full length or shorts but the pockets on these are perfect. They’re slightly wider than my iPhone, deep, and the lip of the pocket is on a pretty good slant. All this means my phone rests more at a backwards angle with about half of the top of the phone stuck under the lip. Even on long runs, runs down hills, etc the phone stays put. I usually run with a flip belt but lately I’ve been trusting these more and more. Phone goes in the left, gels in the right.

I practice many styles, so I'll give my recommendation for each.

Hot yoga/power yoga/any kind of sweaty yoga:
Shorts:
Pillar Short with Inner Liner, no underwear needed as they have a liner. Hands down my favorites. I've had my pairs for 2 years, no signs of wear or tear.
PrAna JD Short -- I usually wear this one with a Bike jock, as boxer briefs ride up too much with these.
I know some guys love wearing tights or spats, but I haven't gotten into it. I think if they're comfy, go for it.

Shirt: None, or if I do, a sleeveless Underarmour shirt

Other Yoga (Hatha, yin, restorative, etc)
Shorts: I love the PrAna Sutra short and pant. The legs are a bit long on the pant, so if there's any leg-on-leg standing balance (e.g., tree pose), I find I have to roll them up.
I've been really into these Manduka shorts as well, but I don't wear them for teaching, as they make my anatomy very... apparent.
Shirt: I tend to wear the sleeveless Under Armour shirts for most things. I also sometimes will just wear a regular t-shirt for restorative or yin. If I'm cold though in those styles, I cover up with a blanket.
Underwear: I am a huge fan of the Ex-Officio Sport Boxer Brief for yoga.

I personally don't wear compression shorts for yoga.

They're really soft and I've been wearing them a ton for sleeping, cleaning, and yoga, but I was also able to dress them up and wear them to work, which made me feel like I was in my PJs all day. It was fantastic 😂 they also have a giant pocket on the side. 10/10 would recommend!

I'd browse around stores with the intent of "would I feel cute doing pole in this?"
Literally wear whatever you want it really doesn't matter as long as you're comfortable and can grab the pole.


Swimsuit bottoms can be cute! Just make sure it's a material you like the feel of. I have some super short bike shorts and also pink jersey shorts that, while they definitely aren't long, have a little bit of a flare and are sooo so comfy. I pair them with a cute wired sports bra.

I ordered these on Amazon and they've been working out (no pun intended) really well. They're not too high of a cut, but they're fitted and supported enough where I feel like I'm not going to fall out or flash anyone. I'd definitely recommend these because they have plenty of room in the top! (And as a plus, they're so cheap that if they don't work out, you could always wear them as sleep shirts haha)
