6. Traditional Cocktail Swizzle Stick aka le Bois Lélé from Martinique

    Features:
  • Add an authentic Caribbean touch to your home bar with this traditional swizzle stick (le bois lélé) sourced exclusively for The Curated Pantry from Martinique. Makes a perfect gift for craft cocktail enthusiasts and tiki lovers alike!
  • Made from the Quaraibea Turbinate tree (aka swizzle stick tree), each stick is hand harvested, cured and whittled in the Caribbean island of Martinique.
  • SWIZZLE STICKS ONLY WORK IN DRINKS MADE WITH CRUSHED, FINELY CRACKED OR SHAVED ICE. Please do not use in drinks with cubed ice. Size and thickness will vary since this is a natural, handmade item.
  • SWIZZLES are sour style cocktails with a similar composition to a punch that distinctively must be churned with a swizzle stick. Swizzle drinks tend to be rum-based due to originating from the Caribbean, but the name defines the mixing method rather than the ingredients.
  • TO USE: Pour your ingredients into the glass in which you will be serving the drink and fill halfway with crushed ice. Immerse the swizzle stick into the drink, hold the shaft in between both palms of your hands and rotate the stick rapidly by sliding your hands back and forth. Top with more crushed ice and swizzle some more. This will produce a super cold slurry that frosts the outside of the glass, perfect for sizzling hot days!

Whaat seriously?? I'm a vet student! Techs are THE BEST, we love them.

Happy birthday, /u/plungerwhisk! Since you, like me, love both animals and wine, there are two amazing things on my list suited for both of us! The first is both useful and cute, as keeping your wine fresh (and gnat-free) is a must. The second is equally adorable, and very helpful for keeping yourself sorted when entertaining!

I hope you have a lovely birthday! This is such a cute contest!

-Brie Baker with all the ingredients to get started (Brie cheese, fruit, nuts, honey)

-Butter Bell with a loaf of locally made bread

-Mariposa Napkin Box with Weights and Cocktail Napkins

-Cocktail Shaker Set with Bitters, Stirrers, and a nice bottle of liquor

-Cool coffee table book (esp. if it matches a gift set mentioned above (The Art of Mixology or Magnolia Table) or it's hostess-themed, such as Kate Spade's All In Good Taste or Emily Post's Manners for Today)

-Guest Book for house/bathroom/guest room (and this is always fun because you can be the first one to sign it and everyone at the housewarming party can sign it/write a message). Look around Etsy for these...I'm not crazy about the ones on Amazon.

Hope this helps! Happy housewarming to your friend!

Cute wine markers (have cats and dogs): link

Other than that, a nice aerator or wine bottle opener?

For a pet, an activity tracker or petcam might be nice.

> Would you say the mouldline removal tool is a much better option than just filing the lines down?

That's going to come down to personal preference and the shape of the model.

I greatly prefer the moldline tool for getting rid of any remaining sprue clipping lumps (and retraction spikes on 3d prints). For mold lines themselves it really depends on the model. If anything I tend to use the sanding sticks more than files as the sanding sticks are a little flexible. But sometimes a pointy file is the right tool for the job.

It's a champagne swizzle stick, to get the bubbles out of your glass of champagne.

Edit: On Amazon, here.

I would try stock, beside the St. Stephens Green Centre, or Decobake (http://www.decobake.com/), after that I'd try Fallon & Byrne and Avoca. My other usual good spot for things like this is the Asia Market, but I don't think they are likely to have this specific item.

Wood seems to be normal. (as in this Martinique version.) But seems to me that's something that could be 3-D printed - or just welded up in a few minutes.

That, or I'd spend a few minutes with a wire bending jig and chuck the result into a cordless drill. It won't need to be a complex shape. Oh, and copper would be antimicrobial, so you could do a simple tap rinse after each use if you are just doing the one thing with it.

Didn't you say something about not wanting to break out the welder for a whisk? But... what about for one that's not going to break again?

No problem, I have had many mold lines make it though the priming and painting process and had to deal with them later. These are my personal favorites, they are small enough to get into the more detailed areas as well. Use a less aggressive grit and go slow and you can take the minimal amount of paint of that way, then just paint over the area and do any small detailing you need to. Should be a quick fix .

To avoid staining my teeth, I drink my coffee with a stainless steel spoon-straw, usually used for cocktails. I swish my mouth with water after.

DO NOT brush your teeth right afterwards : the acidity in your mouth combined with the abrasiveness of brushing will only weaken your enamel, and I believe that can contribute to more staining.

TIL that they are called julep straws !
