Somethin to talk about! Bonnie Raitt is cool :-). Congrats on the new decade, ladies, I hope to move down some day LOL. Oh, it has been a GOOD day! No, I never got hungry. BUT, at my normal meal time, I wasn't UNhungry-- I managed to hit the protein AND my calories LOL. That hasn't happened for a while now. It tasted real good but I didn't "enjoy" eating-- but progress is progress.

9 more NSVs and I get my new sheets! AND, someone sent me a link to the most beautiful single cup loose leaf tea mugs on amazon, and I was looking at all of them. Showed it to hubby and he immediately said Well, have you ordered it yet? WOOHOO, a surprise thing of beauty is entering my life! Here it is, for those interested : [KATI Tea Mug] (https://smile.amazon.com/Tea-Ceramic-Brewing-Infuser-Steeping/dp/B07B8XDDJN/ref=pd_day0_hl_79_1/135-1889682-2087726?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07B8XDDJN&pd_rd_r=c5dba0f4-573c-11e9-9cc9-7768f6408781&pd_rd_w=w5ESN&pd_rd_wg=UN3D5&pf_rd_p=ad07871c-e646-4161-82c7-5ed0d4c85b07&pf_rd_r=6XNMD807W04V3XRKV92R&psc=1&refRID=6XNMD807W04V3XRKV92R)

I can't wait until the 11th when it gets here! Oh, it has been an amazing day all around :-).
What did I learn LATER that I wish I had known when I started? Hmm. Now that's a toughie. Probably that upping the protein would help deal with telogen effluvium.

I had experienced it before when I had a serious illness, and had known it could happen with sudden weight loss, but none of the resources I checked mentioned the protein being a factor.
Fortunately I upped my protein shortly after it began for different reasons-- after dealing with bald patches in the past, I was glad not to have to deal with them again LOL.

I just know tomorrow is going to be a great day-- my oldest son is taking me out for lunch to our fave chinese food restaurant! I'll be eating outside my window, but oh well! They make wonderful chicken veggie soup, in a clear broth, so all good there and room in the net carbs for 1 crab puff with 13 carbs to spare LOL. I might even blow all the carbs on the crab puffs, and just eat meat for dinner :-).

Have a wonderful day, everyone and KCKO!

Lightsaber Lamp or chopsticks are pretty cool. This apron, this thermos, these playing cards, this bottle opener, and this ice cube tray are also pretty sweet!

There's a variety of cat tote bags but I personally love this one or this one. I also love these coasters, this plush, this game, this cup, and these magnets.

This camping first aid kit looks super useful, as does this multitool, and you can never have too many torches. An inflatable pillow, or a funky backpack cover might be cool too.

I'm not great at looking for stuff for kids yet, so I can't really cover that aspect, but I hope you like some of these suggestions!

Sorry for the late response but there are lots of places.

These from Amazon are the widest shallowest cups I have and use them for green tea. I don't know why but I prefer green tea out of these cups. However many people find them too wide and cumbersome to use or too small. I quite like them. At roughly $7 per cup they aren't cheap but not break the bank expensive either.

You have larger ones like this or like this that are easier to use.

The other popular style are the "lampshooter" type cups and are a personal favorite of mine but I am having a hard time finding immediately links to them but here is an example. They cool down the tea quite quickly and are beautiful!

These are all very common styles of Chinese tea cups so go through the common vendors linked in our sidebar and check out their teaware section. On the high-end you have stuff like this that is beautiful and also suck up heat but you don't have to spend $100 to get a wide, Chinese cup. $7 is good enough ;-)

So I've drank a bunch of Adagio teas over the years and was going to give my recommendations (of similar price to what you recommended), but then I started adding up the price and...Adagio is just way overpriced for what it is these days.

So here's my recommendation: go to What-Cha and buy this http://what-cha.com/intro-to-tea-collection/intro-to-tea-collection/
It's about $25, ships free anywhere in the world, and will give you 10 samples of quality tea for about what 5 samples of mediocre tea was going to cost you from Adagio once you added shipping.

To answer your other question, the Ingenuitea has no advantage over simpler vessels like a porcelain teapot or gaiwan. I had two, and honestly it's just an over-engineered solution that does that exact same thing but is harder to clean. For a beginner, the choice is pretty simple:

-If you're willing to sit down with the tea and brew multiple small cups, get a porcelain gaiwan
-If that sounds like a hassle, and you really want to just to brew a huge mug and get on with your day, either get a porcelain two-cup teapot or a porcelain mug with cover and basket infuser (like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Porcelain-Tea-Mug-Infuser-White/dp/B01HEFC8SK/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1479443044&sr=8-17-spons&keywords=covered+mug+tea&psc=1)

I'll drop some stuff anyways:

https://www.amazon.com/Zojirushi-SJ-SHE10-Stainless-Sports-32-Ounce/dp/B004YB3J4K/ref=sr_1_sc_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1467067756&sr=8-3-spell&keywords=zoristi+thermos because it keeps my water hot for a solid 12 hours and it holds enough that I can travel multiple places and still have liquid to make a cup in https://www.amazon.com/PRESS-ART-TP-160-500ML-CAPACITY/dp/B00AIVMID8/ref=sr_1_2?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1467067811&sr=8-2&keywords=kamjove&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011

You're on a budget, so why not just look at what works: I figure you want to save money and heating water is a simple thing, there's all kinds of things out there... but I was in college just last year so I know how convenient it is to have everything come in a box from Amazon: I've never used one of these before, but 25 perfect reviews should say something... maybe? It's only $40 right now which is pretty low: https://www.amazon.com/Epica-6-Temperature-Variable-Stainless-Cordless/dp/B01G7OL9ZW/ref=sr_1_18?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1467067863&sr=8-18&keywords=electric+kettle&refinements=p_85%3A2470955011

Over time you'll realize how many different things can be introduced into the art of making one awesome cup after another, but for now it is best to focus on what you like and dislike and then go from there :)

u/MsZombiePuncher · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Chicken Tray Bake It is sooo easy and versitle - you can really do whatever veggies you feel like. And it's the Entree and Side all in one easy tray. Basically just throw hard veggies onto a tray for 20 minutes at 400F, put other veggies on tray and place Pesto rubbed chicken on top of everything. Cook for 20 more minutes. Done! I love doing potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, broccolli, and onions.

That would also be great on the grill!

For dessert I love just some fruit and whipped cream. I love how simple it is. Plus I just loovvee whipped cream, so i love any excuse.

Just for the record, some brands have great tea bags! I think the best way to keep someone excited is accessibility. I keep a kettle in my room. That way no one will get between me, my highly purified water, and my tea! If you're thinking about getting a kettle, I'd keep an eye out for ones that have some temperature control. You'll see a lot of people talking about water temperature (Like on the side-bar)------------> It's nice to have some flexibility without having to deal with a thermometer and waiting for water to cool just to forget about it and start all over again. Worst case scenario, you get a nice one, she doesn't use it, but you can!

I think folks who mentioned an infuser are right on the money. A mug or cup to love is important as well. A final thing that folks don't often think about is a lid for the mug. There are tons of cute ceramic lids to keep your tea hot while brewing.

Or, you can just get a little set: https://smile.amazon.com/Tea-Talent-Porcelain-Infuser-Saucer/dp/B076BYZQ3F/ref=sr_1_12?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1527142083&sr=1-12&keywords=ceramic+lid+tea

I've had several of these sets over the years, and the mug was always too large, so I kept the ceramic infusers and lids, and use them in my other mugs; this one looks like it fits well, though.

Gosh, I've never actually searched for these before, but some of them are really beautiful...

u/Myeerah · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Yes my boyfriend think it's strange and I've had to reexplain it to him like 3 times. I've wanted to get him a yerba mate gourd for years but haven't cause either I forget it about when I have the money or I don't have the money when I do think about it lol no particular funny story but when I tried explaining it to him I was definitely getting some strange looks, and he's a huge skeptic in life in general anyway let alone believing people could be nice just to be nice lol

Congrats! Omg that is amazing!

Do traveling mugs count? I usually take them to class and work with me, so I would consider it a supply. Caffeine is def a need lol I really like this one.

One of the most important lessons I have learned is if you want something done, you have to get it done. Life does not wait for you. Pretty soon you'll look up and time has passed you by and instead of being done and relaxing, you're scrambling to finish it. So don't do procrastinate!

I was schooled.

u/simsoy · 5 pointsr/tea

I think it retains heat pretty well if you keep the lid on. It pours very nicely, you'll never miss or spill. And the mesh infuser is huge, it's really easy to pick up and let the tea drain so you don't over seep the tea.

Edit: You can also use this tea light warmer to keep the tea hot if you're going to take a few hours to drink the tea. It's only $10, and the teapot is $15 so you'd be spending a lot less than what you'd originally planned even with this add-on.

Tea cups like this teaology one ($3.95), or this series of Turkish cups--(or this alternative set) all would match the "all glass" look nicely.

My favorite drink is TEA. All tea. I have so much of it. There is a tea for every emotion and every day. Green tea when I need a pick-me-up, black tea to sip between meals, white tea when I want some dessert, and roobios tea at night.
Tea is always a good idea
Thank you!! :)

u/domin007 · 1 pointr/tea

If you have a kettle and want an easy to manage work teacup, I'd check out this or this. The Kati's infuser is really easy to clean if you have a small trashcan nearby (just put a grocery bag inside) and although they're a bit pricy, you'll save money by being able to use loose-leaf tea. The Forlife is a bit harder to clean but is still doable.

However if that still doesn't work, Twinnings has a good range of flavored black teas. I also would check out Harney and Sons. A little bit more pricy, but totally worth it. I've had Paris, Florence and a red raspberry tea and all three have been nice.

u/mishykahn · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Here is a really cute owl mug! I may have to get this one for myself!

Here is a different owl one!

A beautiful cast iron one

Bonus adorable tea infuser!

Tea is always a good idea! There's a local teahouse down the street from where I live, and I have yet to find a combination there I don't love. When it's cold outside, I get a combination of lavender Earl Grey and Earl Grey cream with a hint of honey as a sweetener. Sometimes I'll make it like a "tea latte" and ask for hot almond milk. I almost wish it was cold enough for me to get some now!

  1. I think adagio has some pretty great prices for basic teas. just find one you like and go for it

  2. try looking on amazon. They have some really nice pots with built in infusers. I know Ocean State Job lot has some cast iron ones with infuser baskets. My friend just picked one up for less than $20

  3. What i do at work is that i buy some samples from adagio (they reseal and it isn't a LOT of tea) I also just bought this for my desk.

Tight on cash + new to tea = samplers.

Low cost investment to get a variety of tea in limited quantity for you to experiment. It is easy to recommend teas that I like, but ultimately they need to please your palate. One way to find out what suits your taste profile is to sample.

No need to spend a fortune on equipment. A finum basket or a Kamjove tea maker (like this one) is all you need to steep tea. Next figure out how you want to measure the temperature of water. I would recommend variable temp kettles, but you can get away with a cheap immersion thermometer. A pocket digital scale to weigh out dry leaf is also nice to have. Basically you can get all the equipment you need for $50 or less, unless you opt for a kettle.

So save your money to buy tea in sample sizes. Soon you will figure out what profiles appeal to you. Then judiciously spend your money on larger quantities of tea.

Oh that crummy thing? haha its an $11 dollar 150ml 'Yixing' ( I put that in quotes cus I doubt it ) red clay gaiwan from amazon. I dropped the lid some time in April and consequently superglued back together. Its got a white glaze in the middle which I like, and has served me excellently! Gets the job done, feels relatively good in the hand, all while being cheap as heck.

Hi, I'd go for a gaiwan to start off with, very easy to use, maintain and clean. Also much cheaper than a good teapot. Something like this would serve you well. Good choice on the What-cha sampler by the way.

Hario Chacha Kyusu Maru Tea Pot, 700ml - $15

Teaology Luna Double Wall Borosilicate Tea Cup - $3.95

I'm very much still learning, but I love this cheap little setup and it's been working especially well with my Oolongs and Greens. I picked up a sample of Pu erh Pearls from Adagio (pictured), and it works just fine for that as well if you're okay with western brewing techniques.

I use Tea Forte Kati Cup everyday for tea at work. It kind of stinks not having a handle, but I've never had a problem with it. I love how it makes me just one cup, and it's easy to clean.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F44AF2U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Which is a tad bigger than the 80-100. It says 130-150 hopefully I didn't make to big of a mistake going to big? There was a big shiny banner that said "Amazon's Choice" over the top of it so I decided it was good enough for me haha!

u/meeme109 · 1 pointr/tea

I have these. When I'm holding them, even if there's scalding hot tea in them, I don't feel it at all. They're a little under 3 ounces so it's not quite as big as you want, but they're a good size for me. I honestly don't like the insulation of them that much. I find I miss the warmth of other cups when I'm using them.

u/starfishe · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

It may be silly, but I got a new car recently. And as much as I love it. I have NOWHERE to put my phone!!! It is either sitting on my passenger seat, somewhere in a cup holder, or even on the floor. And I have been having trouble finding this cell phone mount at any stores around me!!

I'm looking to buy my first gaiwan, I've called two Asian stores here in South Florida USA and they don't carry gaiwan. I found a Gaiwan on Amazon and I like the price. Does it look like a good buy as a first gaiwan?

edit: corrected spelling

edit2: I ended up buying this gaiwan instead because it had Amazon Prime shipping while the first gaiwan shipped from China and took about a month to arrive.

u/mynewpeppep69 · 4 pointsr/tea

Here's a link:

The unfinished outside has a really nice grippy texture that's both aesthetic and practical. Would describe the black as actually closer to a dark brown. Otherwise pretty cheap and convenient if you need to order. Shipped from China packaged really well, would be genuinely surprised if it broke in transit.

I've found steeping in it to be much more convenient for me than larger brews. Normal steeping in a cup is too big and with some of my more expensive oolongs I like to get a lot of steeps which is hard with a larger cup. I'm also a baby and can't drink tea piping hot, and I feel like it's pretty easy to get that exact right temperature where it's still hot but not scalding my tongue.

For making single cups, I use the
Tea Forte KATI Tea Brewing System.

I really like it. We have a Keurig at work, so I use that to fill it with hot water (the large-cup setting is the perfect size for this mug).

u/freecain · 1 pointr/tea

Instead of using disposable cups (which could impart taste) - consider getting cheap tasting cups
If you do tastings in order of lighter to stronger flavor, and don't use flavored teas, the tasters could re-use their cup. Provide a bucket to dump if they won't finish the cup, and a pitcher of water to rinse if needed (probably won't be though).
Assuming 6 tasters at a time, you would only need 2 or 3 sets to keep things moving. Next, get three medium sized food grade containers. One would need warm soapy water (add from kettle as it cools). One would be clean water to rinse the soap off. The third would be a no rinse sanitizing solution. A small rack for drying them at the end. This is how some bars deal with this. Bonus - if you want to do tasting at work, you would have this whole set up ready to go.

u/what_the_heil · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This would definitely come in handy for easy meals!

u/irritable_sophist · 1 pointr/tea

Too much vertical clearance between the basket and the bottom of the mug. You need to have the basket actually sitting on the bottom of the mug if possible. When I did this I had a red Chatsford infuser like the one here used with an oversized coffee mug.

[EDIT] This would be a better use of your $$ if you really want to try small-pot brewing.

u/travelbugart · 2 pointsr/tea

Two really simple ways to brew loose-leaf tea at work:

Finum's Hot Glass System, which is a double-walled glass cup with a really excellent basket strainer and drip tray. The pictures don't do it justice. I bought one for each member of my family and take mine when I need to do formal office visits.

Kamjove's press-button infusion pot. Very convenient since it's all in one, and it allows great control since you decant the infusion when it's done with the press of a button. Some people don't like that it is infusing in a plastic chamber at the top, but it's BPA-free and does not leave any plastic taste at all. Very hard to get tea stains out of the infusion filter though.

u/Bruhah_DenimGuy · 3 pointsr/tea

I personally use these double-walled glass tea cups.

I've been using them for 5 days and are fairly affordable. Downside is that they do not retain heat as well as porcelain. These are perfect for tea for yourself or with one other person, but if you have 3 or more, I'd follow u/EarnestWilde's advice on using the small cups.
