On the leg / knee support pillow, I sleep with one too and found that it's a lot more comfortable to use a small 10x10 pillow between my knees and another between my ankles than to try to use a full size pillow.

In the past I've gotten them from Ikea since most of the other ones I've seen intended for throw pillow inserts tend to have too much stuffing, but here's an example of what I'm talking about:

With a smaller pillow confined to just between the knees, that should help reduce the smell to just knee sweat.

Also thinking - if a 10 minute shower seems like too much, what about 20 seconds to wipe down with a baby wipe before bed?

I have never used a "real" pillow in my life... I think that if I had a real pillow, then my neck would feel a lot better.

Do you know what pillow is the best pillow?

I've always had this really cool idea (at least I think so) about using wood pallets with a foam mattress and using that as a bed and sofa combo by changing placement of the pillows on top. I'm thinking just stacking a few pallets together and placing the mattress on top, similar to some of these. Amazon has a lot of foam mattresses and with some big European pillows, you could place them long-ways on the bed as the back for the 'couch' during the day and use them for pillows at night or take them off. I always thought it would be so cool for a studio and really portable if you ended up moving.

You could look for giant pillows. My partner's couch just came with a bunch of big pillows for the back. Maybe also check nearby furniture stores? Amazon has these 28" x 28" pillow inserts that you could probably find or make covers for: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0759QQ2BF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_y6PTCbYWQHBK8

Your Amazon link is to the covers, but here's a 2 pack for $16.

I second your caution about buying secondhand. Unless it's a really unique pillow I don't like to take the chance.

OP, I've heard of people buying clearance pillows in the size they need then just using the inserts. Might be hard to beat the Walmart price of $5 each, though, and unless they're higher quality pillows with zippers in the covers you'll probably have to rip open the seams to get the insert out.

If you have access to a sewing machine, you could buy a regular size bed pillow and cut it down to 18x18 then sew it closed. This will let you adjust the amount of stuffing, too. Walmart used to have bed pillows for $2 or $3 and this was the most cost-effective way I found to get big inserts. You could actually buy three pillows and make a fourth from the leftovers and a pillowcase.

Some decorators say to use an insert one size larger than your pillow cover (a 20x20 insert for an 18x18 cover, for example) so that might also be something to keep in mind.

I can not even explain to you how badly we need new pillows. Ours are so horrendous, my neck always hurts.
