This is what you need -
https://www.amazon.com/Underwater-Kinetics-Aqualite-Video-Light/dp/B00RM3D5QY/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=aqualite+pro&qid=1556779134&s=gateway&sr=8-2

It comes with a tray, a nice wide angle light and folds up small enough to fit in a pocket.

I use a pair on a tray for most of my video combined with Backskatter Filters. The light and the tray for $189 is a pretty good deal, and you can get the filters later.

The Hero 3+ Silver is a pretty old camera and suffers from a lot of issues when diving (Flooding, lens distortion etc.) If you have the budget upgrading to the Go Pro 7 Black will do a lot better and have better color even without filters. I find the Go Pro 7 actually works best with the Magenta filter in most conditions than any of the red filters.

Examples:

Hey man! Cool pics and video! I'm no pro but here's some stuff I found

Dive light setup

I saw another diving thread where they talked about the different filters for underwater color and getting the colors more accurate. They used this: http://youtu.be/ze66k7Kvi8E

Good to know, thanks. I was looking at this one maybe or something but again, I have no clue what I'm doing. It looks cute! But I'm preeeeeeeeetty sure that's a bad reason to pick a light lol.

1 - App can stay off and will sync whenever you connect.
2 - I got myself this https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01EN0Z8OK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_j49aAbPZ74MX5
Very bright and battery is good.

You'll get lots of backscatter with the light so close to the camera. I used to have a similar setup:

Now I use a hand mounted flood light.
