i've been dealing with these errors for the past month myself.
i've tried all manner of things, but none of these worked with 2 separate routers:

  • remove the cmos battery
  • manually set the wireless connection settings
  • remove wpa2 from ssid
  • remove discs and usb stick from console
  • etc etc

eventually, what ended up working was this:
i had moved the wii u to a wall mount. i removed it for testing, and put it on a table...and it worked with both routers without any issue.
putting it back in the mount, no connection.

there IS a sweet spot that it works, but getting the console to reliably stay mounted there is nearly impossible.
eventually, i ended up testing it upside down (so the fan is towards the top), and now it works without fail, again on both routers with wpa2 encrytpion enabled.

if you have wpa2-psk on your router, then it's aes.
depending on what your router is configured to lease, these are common settings you can try (guessing at the ip, but it's likely available if it's the right subnet for your network):
    ip: 192.168.1.79
    subnet: 255.255.255.0
    gateway: 192.168.1.1
proxy: don't set this unless you know for a fact you use a proxy (not common)
dns: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (these are google's public dns servers. very reliable).

but try removing anything potentially blocking the signal first; the wii u wifi is wonky at best.
    good luck!

fyi, this is the wall mount i have. disappointed it blocks the signal when mounted with the fan down, but otherwise is a good mount:
