Dansko Otis is quite attractive, and very comfortable.

I don't know if Cobb Hill Caroline is too casual for your office, but it's waterproof, looks grippy, and Cobb Hill, as a New Balance company, generally makes comfortable shoes. They come in wide too, in case you need a wide for pregnancy foot spreading.

Munro Lexi is pretty sleek. It uses a combination last, so the heel is always narrow for the stated width, while the toes match the stated width. As a result, I'd recommend ordering a B width if you've got narrow heels, but a D width if you've got regular heels (extra toe room tends not to hurt anyone).

Bogs has started making nicer looking leather boots. Bogs Kristina Chelsea is pretty nice looking, and as you might expect given the company, it's waterproof. The reviews say it's comfortable.

This Vionic chelsea is good if you want aggressive arch support, but kind of boring otherwise.

Ooh, I'm glad to hear you love your Tevas! I have a pair of black, waterproof Teva Lace-up Boots sitting in an Amazon box waiting for me to work up the courage to see if they really are my perfect boots. They check all the boxes (black, heeled, casual, lace-up, water-proof) but I've had soooo many failed attempts at boots that I just don't even want to take them out of the box to see if they are The Ones. I should really just go dig out a couple types of socks and give them a go.

Edit - OK, dug through the sock drawer for some samples and cracked open the boot box. Determined that I love the boots (waterproof, lace up means easy adjustment, just enough detail to be cute) but when I add an insert to accommodate my delicate feet on the hard soles of the boots, they become a half size too small. Fortunately that is easily remedied, so I have the next size up on order and have finally completed my quest for casual winter boots to wear with my jeans!

Hey guys!

B made orange beef and broccoli last night - only 464 calories and 7 net carbs a serving, mostly from the broccoli. It was sooooo good. It could have used more orange flavor, but we were experimenting with just using zest. I brought some for lunch today, I'm pumped.

I bought some khacki-green booties from Amazon for like $19 last week and omg the shoes are amazing. My husband makes fun of me because I complain about how expensive everything is all the time. It's almost physically painful for me to pay for something I feel is too much, but $19 is just perfect. :D I want the cognac color next.

I hope you everyone has a great rest of their day!

I have some dress up/down Teva waterproof booties that I wear every time I visit and it mostly eliminates the need for multiple pairs of boots/shoes - I just bring a nice heel for the fancy stuff, and maaaaybe a tennis shoe. They're honestly not something I usually wear at home, unless it's cold and rainy... but it's a decent all purpose boot! Would feel comfortable taking them out on a long muddy hike and giving them a good rinse after for some pub dining. Comfy, sturdy, waterproof, halfway fashionable.... and they zip so I wear them as I travel over as well, so I don't have to mess with my shoes at security. 😂

I know how hard it can be to be taken seriously in a 'men's' field, I worked for a while in aviation related industry as one of only 2 women in the office & my best tip for combating a 'good old boys club' atmosphere is to embrace your inner bitch.

I'm not an overly peppy person by nature but after about a week I quickly realized that I would have to be far more assertive & serious than usual. I would always try to be standing when introducing myself, make a point of saying what my role was, & I was never the first one to offer to get/make coffee or organize office gatherings etc. Basically I started treating the guys with the exact same attitude of condescension & superiority they gave me (tho never to the point of being unprofessional). That change in attitude seemed to seep through to everything & after a few weeks, the guys at the site realized they had to take me seriously. So that would be my first tip, regardless of clothing.

Clothing-wise it might be worth it to try & stick to your general uniform of jeans/boots/shirts so you still feel like 'you' but start to choose pieces w/ a bit of edge to them. For example, when I read your above description of jeans & riding boots, this: http://i.imgur.com/A06riBV.jpg is what I'm envisioning. If that's close, I can see how it would read as young & more like immature college student than tech professional.

Perhaps try black/dark grey/navy skinny jeans or ponte pants tucked into black leather engineer boots? Or go a step further & get some more office-wear type ankle boots like these Danskos. I'm not sure what your t-shirt collection looks like, but w the above pants/boot combo & a basic tank/tee under a cardigan, I think you would look work appropriate, hopefully still feel like you but appear edgier or tougher than you might look now.

I wear these, they have held up pretty well. I like the tan/blue colors and and the fit is pretty good. I am a 5'1" woman so I like a shorter boot, and I wear a size 6.5. It was basically impossible to find any women's steel toe boots in store, so it is really hard to pick out boots and check the fit and comfort. I used amazon wardrobe to try on 3 different pairs because I couldn't find any in stores, and I wanted to make sure I liked what I bought.

I have a pair of BOGS that I swear by when I'm walking all day and don't want to wear my Hunters. People keep asking me if they're Doc Martens, and they're reasonable, too. They're pretty comfy besides that I wish that the upper was a bit wider, but I wear them all the time without issue so I don't think it should deter you. this is what I have but didn't pay this much

My friends love Tretorn as well and say it's great quality.

I have to fill out a business casual/casual business casual wardrobe for the first time, and the hardest part for me is the shoes. My general style is very casual and maybe a little bohemian/outdoorsy. I need a pair of black boots (mid-thigh or shorter). Little to no heel (2" at the absolute max, prefer 1" or less). HAVE to be very comfortable. And I also have a hard time judging whether shoes are formal enough - I wear these almost every day and it took weeks for my sister to convince me they weren't professional looking enough. Someone recommended these Sebago Claremont Brogue shoes, which I like in the Cinnamon/Bronze color, but not black.

Can anyone recommend some professional-appropriate black ankle/mid-thigh boots with a little organic flavor and/or nice details? I like these Pikolinos but that's a bit pricey and I don't know if they're formal enough. These too, but I think I need black. Help please!

u/Deiji- · 8 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Does anyone have suggestions for a cheaper version of these shoes?

I love the blocky mid heel, leather, and lace up front. I'd ideally find some around the £100 mark, and definitely available to the UK. Black or a really deep red colour would be perfect too - I have had no luck finding any. Thank you :)

Edit: while searching I found these which are even more perfect and yet even more out of my budget haha

I mean it's not a terrible time to go and there is almost something a little bit romantic about old cities on grey rainy days. Plus you'll probably be there right around the time the Christmas decorations start going up, which is quite lovely, so it's not a bad time you just want to make sure you pack appropriately so that you're not cold and miserable the whole time.

Rain boots or at least waterproof boots are definitely a good idea. It depends a lot on your style for me personally I try to thread the needle of practical, but also with a enough style that I don't feel like a frump walking around London and Paris. Teva has a bunch of waterproof leather boots that might be a good option, as they tend to have good foot bed cushioning, but they're also not unattractive. My friend has this style and says they are great, but they have quite a few on zappos and Amazon. You could also go for more of a wellie look as that would certainly be appropriate in London, but in my experience they are not super comfortable for extended walking.

Perhaps Steve Madden Stinnger or Lucky Brand Asherr? Both are under $100 without discounts, but there more be discounts available. I also have wide feet, but I own the lucky brand boots and I've had pretty good luck with Steve Madden, though it will depend on how wide your feet are, etc. I had to go up half a size on the lucky brand boots to get them wide enough, so they're a little long, but I've bought my normal size (9.5) in all my Steve Madden boots

u/tofutits · 1 pointr/vegan

They also have them in women's.

As far as snow boots go... my parents bought me very expensive LL Bean boots the year before I went vegan when I lived in a city known for its snowfall. They are made almost completely out of leather and are shearling lined. I'm of the mindset that if you already have clothing from before you went vegan you should use it, but it's hard for me to do and I certainly put off wearing them over other types of shoes. It doesn't help that they were quite an expensive gift (the most expensive shoes I've ever had). Anyway, these would be a great alternative if I someday am able to muster up giving away one of the most expensive and useful gifts I've ever been given by people who are important to me...

Yes, I think combat-y boots would look nice! I have these Merrell Shiloh Lace boots (here's a video). Merrell doesn't make them anymore, but you can still find them around. They are very comfortable and warm (at least to me) with socks. These boots are super cute with all sorts of outfits.

Hush Puppies

Dr. Martens - these don't specifically come in a wide-width, but they're sized VERY generously and I highly recommend them as a fellow orthotics-wearer.

Rockport - available in wide-width except for 11

Sam Edelman

Hope you find something you like! I know how tough it is to find nice looking orthotic-friendly footwear.

u/oceanoftrees · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Ooh, purdy. It sounds like they'd fit with your style too, provided you can get them to work for you and not feel like clown shoes.

I wish I could help with the boot-length question, but I have the same problem myself. I got my first pair of ankle boots (in black) a few months ago, and my knee-length brown boots I love are starting to get totally worn out so I've been eyeing some nice (shorter) leather lace-up ones like that. But my jeans bunching around my ankles drives me crazy! I've tried:

  • converting my jeans into stirrup pants using those kids' mitten clips, but they sometimes dig into my ankle bones and kinda pull my pants down.

  • wearing jeans that are too long, so they go over my heels a bit--it's somewhat effective, but I have to put my boots on carefully there is still bunching even if the jeans aren't popping out.

  • I've played around with cuffing my jeans to above where the boot ends, which would work but I'm still getting used to the look and feel. Is it acceptable to cover that exposed slice of skin with socks? I have no clue. (Also, is this why all the stores are selling ankle jeans? I'm not used to it yet so to me they just feel like jeans that are too short.)

  • Jeans can go over the top of boots, though YMMV with skinniness of jeans.

I also have to wear knee-length socks with these boots or else they get pushed down, which I hate as well. (The boots are probably too large, oops.) Basically it's easiest to just wear them with dresses and tights. :/ Another random gripe I have about that pair is the ones I got from Amazon are not nice and shiny like the picture. Lesson learned: next time I'm springing for higher-quality boots and if they're not perfect, they go back.

I got a bunch of new things to update my wardrobe for fall! Now I'm so excited for the temperature to drop. It hasn't quite hit yet here in DC!

brown ankle boots - At 29, I often feel like a grandma on this sub. Now more than ever, as I write to tell you about Dr. Scholl's brand shoes. They are supportive and comfortable, and some of the styles are actually pretty cute and don't have that "comfort shoe" look. I have a pair of chunky heeled sandals, and with the addition of these ankle boots I officially count myself as a fan.

faux leather black moto jacket - Overall I think this was a good deal. It looks pretty decent and doesn't have that shiny pleather look in person. Perfect fit, too! I wasn't ready to spring for the real thing, and this is a nice entree into the genre.

brown leather flats - Not sure how I feel about these yet. I think I'll keep them, and they seem to have good support, but I don't know if I really remember how to style flats.

heavily distressed straight leg jeans - I'm not usually into ripped jeans, but these are great! I've been feeling very over skinny jeans lately, so when my main pair developed a sizeable hole in the thigh I decided to spring for something new and different.

What are y'alls opinions of blundstones? I am interested in getting a pair and am trying to decide between the classic 500 in Stout Brown, rustic brown, or the dress series. I guess I am asking 1) which of the three do you like the best 2) which do you think would function better as an everyday shoe and 3) if you have experience with the dress series vs the original and would recommend one over the other? Thanks!
