Well they're definitely full on hiking boots. They're heavier, and made for doing longer hikes. They're also pretty comfy in my opinion. If you're for something lighter or more similar to sneakers, I've had a pair of keens for the last few years that I've used for short day hikes that aren't too challenging. They're lighter, but still provide good grip and protection for your feet. If you're not planning on doing backpacking and want to do more local day hikes this will probably be a better bet. My SO also just liked wearing them as his normal shoe. They're comfy, have room for sole inserts, and they're good quality shoes.
