I agree duvet and hypoallergenic comforter. I love these duvets and they come with matching pillow cases. High end look and feel for great price.

For sheets I really like these . I have two sets of sheets and duvet that I rotate for same day turnovers. Have gotten many compliments on comfy bed.

I do sheets, light blanket, duvet-covered comforter, two soft pillows, two memory foam fill pillows, and a cute throw pillow, with towels rolled and placed at the end of the bed for hotel effect. All white so when I’m washing everything together if there’s a stain I can throw in a little fabric-safe bleach.

Personally, I like this duvet cover with some coordinating gray sheets (since your room is painted yellow, I thought yellow sheets might be too much) and maybe a decorative pillow or two.

I just reread the contest - does this count since you technically asked for sheets and I linked a duvet cover and suggested plain gray sheets?

EDIT: /u/book_worm526 suggested some sheets that look like they would go perfect with this duvet cover!

EDIT 2: /u/Pinalope4Real also suggested some sheets that look like they might go with this duvet cover if you prefer yellow sheets over the gray - I can't tell if the yellow in the duvet cover matches exactly though.

If I win, would an Amazon GC be OK?

Thank you for the contest!

i am going to try to link to it ! the color i have is "pink floral" even though it is a teal blue color, it has pink gingham underneath which i think is really cute for a pop of color :)

edit: i just wanted to say this duvet cover is really nice for dog owners because to wash it, i just unzip it from the duvet and throw it in the wash with my sheets and then put it right back on my duvet! it’s easy and not as bulky as washing a large heavy comforter, which justified the price for me because i typically only spend like $40-$50 on comforters.

u/defhjkl · 2 pointsr/Hammocks

>I've been looking into underquilts, but I can't afford one at the moment

Since you are not backpacking, there is no need to have an underquilt that is designed for backpacking. You can just use a regular quilt or blanket, like you would buy at home goods store. For example. You might be fine with getting a full/queen size and wrapping yourself in it. If not, you can hang it under the hammock as an underquilt, and use another blanket as a topquilt.

I have an "extra warmth" "down alternative" quilt, and it is generally too warm to sleep with even in winter. ("Down alternative" is marketing-speak for "synthetic", and is less expensive than down.) I wish I had just bought a regular-warmth one. I live in New England for reference. It is very heavy and very bulky. Whatever you get, be sure to account for it in your hammock's weight limit.

>My initial thought is to put it pretty high up, so I'll catch slightly warmer air.

For safety reasons, you should not. If you fall out, or your suspension fails, you could be seriously injured. Best to keep it reasonably low to the ground, just in case.

u/stevedv · 8 pointsr/minimalism

I own this comforter in queen size and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Very good at staying warm under but also cool enough to not wake up sweaty. Now that I sleep near a window, by night time the comforter is cold to the touch, so I have a fleece blanket underneath to be reliably warm (and fuzzy)!

edit: it's worth noting that the photo makes it seem deceptively compact; it's got a good amount of fluff to it!

u/AdonisChrist · 2 pointsr/InteriorDesign

I can't recommend anything handmade but I can recommend a SmartSilk duvet comforter.

It's a cotton shell with 100% quilted silk on the interior. Silk, if you aren't aware, has fantastic thermal properties - I use this and stay cool in the summertime and warm in the wintertime. Sometimes I'll use an alpaca wool blanket with it (more natural, animal-based material, also with great thermal properties) but if I get under my (high thread count actual egyptian cotton comfy as all get-out) sheets I overheat during the night and start sweating. Which is a comment in favor of the comforter, intended to highlight the lack of breathability in my sheets.

I've bought two - one years ago and another when my last was ruined in a fire. No hesitation on repurchasing, because these things really are the bomb diggity.

I seriously cannot recommend this product highly enough.

Oh, I forgot the mention, because the filling is quilted the thing's totally machine washable and dry-able with no bunching of filling whatsoever.

u/DonNHillary4-20-2017 · 3 pointsr/personalfinance

Definitely, below I'll add in the links to the sheets I buy as well as the comforter.

Sorry, can't help you with shoes though, I'm always afraid to buy them online. I go to a small local place that's insanely expensive but also super high quality, so well worth it.

Sheets = Solid Taupe 450 Thread Count Queen Size Sheet Set, 100% Cotton Deep Pocket Bed Sheets 450TC. at around $50

Insanely warm blanket, maybe too warm for most = MARRIKAS REVERSIBLE Microfiber Down Alternative KING Comforter IVORY AND TAUPE at around $90

Protip, if you don't already use camelcamelcamel.com, it will help a lot. You can catch when the price drops a TON.

u/blahblahwordvomit · 4 pointsr/RBNLifeSkills

You want a heavy fleece blanket plus a regular comforter. If you can afford to get yourself a heated blanket you will be living in the lap of luxury.

This is kind of living situation dependant but, if you find that your windows are drafty blackout curtains are a decent insulator if you can't put up something more serious.

If you can't control the heat of your whole living space (someone else controls the thermometer and you're cold, or maybe your room is a cold spot) you can keep the heat in your bedroom by covering up your windows and the top part of the door with a blanket. I'd do this before getting a space heater.

Go buy a case of ramen and a bottle of your favorite eye watering hot sauce. Sometimes you just want to clear out the face pipes.

Make a little winter survival kit for your car. https://www.skilledsurvival.com/winter-emergency-vehicle-kit/ This list is super intense but it's not bad. I wouldn't be too worried about like... a propane heater, camp stove or a gas tank. My SO swears by traction mats, but if they won't fit in your car you can throw down some sand or kitty litter under stuck tires.

Oh, don't' forget to drink water and use chapstick

Meet Missy and Boo.They just got finished drinking tea. They have been friends for ever, living next door to each other on Sunnyside Sparkle Way. They always sit and have tea every afternoon, and discuss what kind of cookies they baked that day.

If my story happens to be chosen, I'd love to win these sheets. Thanks for the contest!

from the wall art that you have added, I think that you have an eye for plants and we can use it as a concept. Your bed is already awesome, we just need to change the beddings, like you can have something like this something like the country style like this one here same with your curtains, you can have either a single color or something floral. For the wall art, you can have a 3 panel like this one. You can also add a few plants you might to change your lighting design.

u/MiddleEarthGardens · 2 pointsr/HomeDecorating

> replace all bedding with something less patterned if not too expensive.

I was just thinking about this, and how expensive it could get. Duvet covers can be reasonably inexpensive and look nice for photography (even the less expensive ones). These gray ones from Amazon might be a good update. This one has a subtle pattern and comes in a few colors. Pinch pleated duvet covers read nicely in photographs, I think. There are tons more examples on Amazon, and many for < $50. (We actually have and love a few of Amazon's Pinzon duvet covers, though those are a tiny bit more expensive, $50-60.)

SpaceX is pretty exciting right now. If they continue with their success they might be the first to land people on Mars. They have some interesting things at their webstore like mission patch collections and pictures.

Or you could get something crazier

u/StellaTerra · 1 pointr/Ultralight

On a whim I just did some quick digging around, and although the Costco Double Black Diamond is the cheapest solution, for those of us without access to a costco, but with access to Amazon.com, you might think about buying something like this and taking out the down. It's just a little over $3/ounce of 800 FP down, although you do have to buy 65 oz at once. It'd be perfect if you and an SO were both making an underquilt and an overquilt. $200 seems like a lot until you break it down and realize how much you'd be paying for it from a more typical source.

u/LilMeeky · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'm trying to learn how to not make excuses. I guess what I mean is more of the ability to tell people "no", I have a hard time doing that. So I will make excuses to not do something I don't want to do or simply do it. Makes life harder on myself and others.

Items that would help with that though.. hmm o.o This cause I can't say yes to people if I'm sleeping? Idk. o.o

/u/mynthe PIETHY!!! you're awesome and just a great person. You should be proud of yourself for being all around amazing. And YO you getting Overwatch and playing with me or what? o.0

/u/ottiecat Only needed one, but I like your name a lot .-.

u/superiorsunrise · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I hate Mondays too! Currently, this item is at the top of my wishlist, I'll explain why. My dog wasn't feeling well for about a week and I made the mistake of letting her sleep in my bed with me after she would toss and turn and wine all night. After several rounds of tests at the vet, it turned out to be minor joint discomfort and a mild pain medication did the trick. The vet said apparently her threshold for pain isn't very high and she has a flair for the dramatic. Now she is feeling much better, but has developed a bad habit of sneaking in my bed while I'm asleep. She knows better, but just keeps doing it! Some mornings she will be in her bed on the floor when I wake up but I can feel a warm spot on the other side of the bed where she laid all night. She's 110lbs, sheds horribly and is getting my nice down comforter all full of hair and doggy smell. The worst part is, it won't fit into my washer so I have to round up $10 in quarters and haul it to the laundromat to get washed. Hopefully if I get a duvet cover, it will make keeping it clean much easier. Hopefully I can also break this problem we are having sooner than later. #Iwantmybedback

EDIT: Thank you for the contest :)

u/SarcasticOptimist · 5 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I second a down comforter. The ones available at Costco are surprisingly well put together and have a decent fill rating. I personally used a Charter Club level 4 (550 fill) and it helped me survive a leaky bedroom in Minnesota. Having thick flannel pajamas and keeping your socks on should help too.

This one from Amazon is better than mine, with nearly twice the thread count and 1.5 the fill.

u/deanie1970 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I always thought this bedding set would be cool!

These wall sconces are super cool!

Congrats on the new apartment!
