Why do you prefer piracy over the rental business? What do you think of Netflix? You would think with their suggest a movie algorithm, they could introduce people to other directors/actors/etc. based on their preference which torrents can't do.
Also, Pandora for music would seem like it would also be better for artists to reach audiences who are more likely to enjoy their music. A person hears a song they like, and if they like it and want to hear it again, they can buy it if they want. How is this model inferior to piracy?

I always kind of saw music videos as kind of similar as movie soundtracks. You only like music videos if you really like a song, and you only like a soundtrack if you really like the movie. Sometimes when someone posts "Check out this awesome music video," I can't enjoy it unless I like the song, no matter how awesome the vid is, but this is kind of off topic.

It is an opportunity, but one that could easily be abused. Things like Pandora allow people to listen to new music if they want, but if they want to hear a specific song anytime they want, they have to purchase it.
