Salaam,

How old are the kids in question?

I'm going to assume they're pretty young. I found these websites:

http://www.islamkids.org/

http://www.islamicplayland.com/

http://www.islamicnet.com/quran-kids-games.htm

YouTube is a great learning and entertaining resource as well. Definitely do your research here and take advantage of it. For example I found this video explaining the 5 pillars. It looks cute. It seems like this entire channel is a kids' channel, as a lot of channels on YouTube are nowadays.

There's also this video by another channel about Adam. Seems this channel has a lot of Islamic content for kids.

And here is a full animated movie about Prophet Muhammad.

And then there's this song. I came across it once a long time ago. It kinda creeps me out, but it serves its purpose. Although every single time I think about it, the chorus gets stuck in my head.

On Amazon, looking at books, there's this salaat sticker activity book for kids. There's also classic Disney tales with Islamic twists that you can get, like Snow White or Cinderella, and I'm sure there's more, if anyone in your family likes Disney. :)

For older kids, perhaps you can look for a course on Qur'an/Islam online? Not sure how much it would cost but could be a valuable resource if that's all you got.

Hope this helped somewhat.

Absolute favorite book is A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter Miller Jr. It's everything I love about sci-fi. Book series that I grew up with and still love are Dangerous Angels by Francesca Lia Block, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, and The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis.

I own this necklace and its very well made

this is probably the most accurate and satisfying Baphomet statue appearance, tho I have not ordered it yet as it's quite expensive

Here is a satanic pentagram ring, or alternatively, here is a Baphomet ring

here is a Baphomet Jewelry Box, and here is an incense cone holder where the smoke comes out of Baphomet's mouth

Heres some extra stuff:

mortar & pestle

satanic bedtime stories

Baphomet Wall plaque

Baphomet Poster

pentagram ritual bowl

ritual knife, do not cut anything with it

Hope this helps

So it's categorized as Books > Children's Books > Literature & Fiction. Last I checked, literature is a pretty vague term that just means "stuff that's written", and also if you say you have a bucket of A & B, that's not to suggest that everything in the bucket is B.

One thing I noticed as I was about to paste examples of the many Jesus origin story books for children in Books > Children's Books > Religions is that they too can be seen as categorized in Books > Children's Books > Literature & Fiction depending on how you navigate to the item's page on Amazon. Maybe they just categorize books into multiple applicable categories, that you can navigate to by browsing categories, and there has to be a default if you go to a direct link. I think that's all it is.

For example, I found one such book under Religions (screen shot), but if I paste a direct link to Amazon it'll show up as Literature & Fiction. Here it is: https://www.amazon.com/First-Christmas-Lift-Pop-Board/dp/1680522310

I think if Amazon were doing what they're being accused of, brazenly labeling a Christian story as fiction, they would have filed it under Books > Children's Books > Fairy Tales, Folk Tales & Myths.

But anything to throw a fit over how you're so oppressed by following the most popular religion on earth due to how an online retailer organizes its web site.

Edit: By the way, there are books for other religions under the same categorization. They must be offended by these ones too, right?

This one!! link

The book is intended to teach children the basic tenant of reincarnation (Buddhist tradition), but 7-year-old, no-idea-what-being-trans-is me was blown away by that last part :)

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/atheistparents

Thank you for the reply. I'm surprised no other parents replied.

I ended up using The Story of Religion. It's a picture book, but is a bit heavy on words, explaining the role religion played in early human development. It covers the basic beliefs of some early religions and then all of the major ones in present day. The book, maybe, has a bias toward Eastern religions in word choices, but isn't bad.

For offering a variety of perspectives The Mountains of Tibet is a wonderful story.

It follows the life of a woodcutter. When he dies he is given a choice. He can become part of ``the endless universe some call heaven'' or be reincarnated. He chooses reincarnation and is shown many possibilities for his next life before choosing one.

Have you ever seen this book?

http://www.amazon.com/Believe-Santa-Claus-Diane-Adamson/dp/0967357101

It compares Santa to Jesus. My mom read it on Christmas eve and cried with the "spirit" as she read it, the first year I was discovering that I was an atheist. After we left their house, my husband and I laughed the whole way home because my mom had no idea that she had just done us a huge favor with the kids. Jesus and Santa, both pretend!

Looks like some version of Herbie and the Gang?

http://www.amazon.com/Herbie-Gang-Green-Leah-Woods/dp/1629071145

whatever this is...

u/BustNak · 3 pointsr/atheism

Teaching other religion and culture is a good start, add to your child's collection with books about other cultures. Ones suitable for younger kids are harder to find but they are out there:

Oh I'm in.

u/apostrotastrophe · 1 pointr/tipofmytongue

The closest thing I can think of is Yellow and Pink by William Steig. They're both wooden dolls, but neither is a girl...

u/hitlerdidnothingbad1 · 2 pointsr/tipofmytongue

The Chronicles of Narnia?

I don't remember a dog, but I haven't read them in quite a while.
