Promotions, you say? Go on, then...

I released a novel yesterday! A full-on, honest-to-goodness novel. It's called Reckless, it's a romance novel set in a small town in Texas, and it's based loosely on one of the Theme Thursdays (Diners) from a little while ago. It's currently at $0.99 for the weekend -- anything to try and climb the greasy pole of the Amazon charts -- so if anyone feels like throwing a dollar at it I'd greatly appreciate it. If not, my WP stuff is still available over in one place at /r/Portarossa. (I know romance isn't a particularly popular genre on here, but the reviews coming in suggest that it's a pretty good one. You know, modesty aside and all that...) If you want to check out a sample, you can read the first couple of chapters here.

It's my first published novel in a while, and the first full piece I've put out under this pen name, and I'd just like to say thanks to Writing Prompts as a whole. Working on little snippets for you guys got me through some gnarly headspace-based times a year or so ago, and I don't think this particular book would have existed without you guys. You really are quite something. (Especially one reader in particular. You know what you did, you charmer, you.)

Ironically, it fits today's theme pretty well: I've been procrastinating putting it online for months and months, convinced that if I could just make change one more little detail, it would be bound to be successful. My advice is, don't. For anyone who finds themselves in the position of worrying whether their project is going to flop, and is willing to spend countless hours and hours tweaking it to get it just right, don't. Take one last look at it, then throw it into the world as hard as you can -- then start your next project.

Procrastination is like masturbation, as they say: at the end of the day, you're only fucking yourself.

FREE Romance book alert! If you're a fan of rich alpha men and fiery women, Secret Lies is the perfect story for you!

Synopsis:

My life is made up of the best because I am the best. Money. Fame. A woman on every arm (and other appendages as well...). Who needs love when I've got everything I've ever wanted?

But then my grandfather passed away and left me his ranch with a condition. And if I want to add his millions to my billions I'm going to have to jump through some hoops. Honestly, it's probably not worth it. I mean... a couple of million is chump change for a guy like me, right? Even if the place is sentimental. But... then I run into the blonde in the stables. She's got long legs and a smile to die for. With piercing eyes and a fiery spirit, she might just be my ticket to the redemption my grandfather always hoped for me... if I don't screw it up, first.

Here you go.

That series is BDSM-focused, but all Witherspoon's books are great if BDSM isn't your thing. She's very into writing about people having healthy, fun, equal relationships and showing that can still be super sexy.

This is my favorite website for finding new erotica/romances to read. They have a huge backlog of reviews that you can search by subject or final grade (so you can find something to scratch your vampire itch or just find their top-rated books, etc). The reviewers are all very feminist and sassy themselves, so the reviews are very enjoyable.

I wrote a novel 3 years ago to cope with my PTSD and depression and I paired it with gay romance, so as you might be able to tell it's very personal. I finally took the plunge and updated my novel on Amazon to be $0.99 for an eBook, and 4 people have bought it in the last day or so, which is pretty encouraging. I also have it as a paperback for $15, but I feel like that's a bit too high so I might change it soon.

Anyhow, my novel is about two men who meet each other on a military ship during a war. They fall in love, but are kidnapped by the bad guys and... well I won't spoil too much on that but it's fairly graphic. The rest of the novel outlines their relationship a year after they get married, and some scenes from earlier on. There's a lot of emotion, a lot of love, and a lot of coping.

Here is it on Amazon, so if you check it out I'd really appreciate it greatly. I'm a brooke college student and even getting like 70 cents off this so far has been wild, lol.

Thanks y'all

I think I'm going with this K.A. Mitchell book, have you read it?

The liquor books seem to have better reviews starting from the second book, but it sounds like a lot of people don't like the first. Would I be better off skipping the first and going straight to the second?

Also, I'm sorry for the delayed replies (life, etc.), but I wanted to let you know I really appreciated you taking the time to comment! You helped turn me on to two fairly prolific authors, so if she likes either one, that's going to be a great help keeping her supplied in books! Thanks again!

The Wild by Whitley Strieber focuses entirely on a man who turns into a wolf. I was very pleased with the ending too. Definitely recommend.

Aunt Maria by Diana Wynne Jones has some animal TFs, in particular a good wolf TF. It's more of a children's book, but well written nonetheless.

Wilderness by Dennis Danvers is another werewolf novel which I enjoyed.

The thing I like about these stories is that the wolf is portrayed more like normal wolves. I'd like to see more books like that.

Edit: Thanks for posting this. I've been thinking about asking the same question. I'm looking forward to seeing other people's suggestions.
