Honestly, it is not expensive at all to get your own set of darts. I've played with very good players who use bar darts, but if you want something that "feels" like what you are used to but is yours and therefore consistent and you don't have to rely on the bar having what you like, check out AZ Dart, or Amazon.

I'm not even suggesting you buy nice stuff, you can order 4 sets of cheap brass and plastic bar darts for 14 bucks and that way you never have to worry about the bar having a good enough set.

Maybe post a pic of the darts you are talking about and someone here can help you find a way to buy them?

Pretty new to the game - been playing casually for a couple of months with some friends at the local bar. Our games have become so fun and competitive that I couldn't resist buying a board (Winmau Blade 5) for home, along with a set of darts. I originally picked these up a couple of weeks ago;

Fat Cat Bulletz 23g

...but today I decided to splurge a bit and ordered these;

Harrows Black Ice 23g

I'm still trying to find my stroke (recently went from a throwing motion, to something that feels more like pushing) - my form is pretty good, I've been complimented on it a bunch, but my results are pretty terrible/inconsistent. I figured I'd try a different shaped barrel to see if something clicks. I also think they're sexy looking. :)

I have my coffee now so I can even post links and things.

Believe it or not, this $15 blow gun is excellent:

http://www.blowgun.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=25

I personally like this caliber, in this length, but it's a personal thing. You don't want the air volume of the gun (caliber x length) to exceed what your lungs can comfortably deliver. It's all about consistency. However, so long as you stay within that envelope, bigger is generally better.

You'll find lots of good stuff to read here:

Not all blowgun ammo is in the form of darts:

These are great for knocking empty soda cans around, but be careful if you have pets or children - they can be just the right size to obstruct the airway or the gut. Don't let the littles play with them.

I used to go through flights like popcorn and reached several conclusions:

a) Trident T180 flight protectors work very well.

b) Ruthless flights are super-strong compared to regular ones. Much more rigid.

c) Stay away from aluminum shafts. If an aluminum shaft bends slightly during play, it'll stay bent and fuck up your game. If a plastic shaft bends it'll either break, or snap back into shape. Either way you won't have a little fifth columnist in your hand at the oche.

d) Fit Flights are fricking excellent. Slightly heavier than regular setup (and much more expensive) but these are all I use nowadays. Consistent exact 90-degree angle means a more consistent result. I haven't used regular flights and shafts since our Toronto distributor started offering Fit Flights for sale.

And the 'sideways' thing is a grip-release issue. You'll find you're pushing the dart with either your thumb or your index/middle finger. Try a lighter grip until you've sorted out exactly how to release.

Best of luck to you sir.

Just found those exact style yesterday on Amazon looking for deals on dart stuff. (There weren’t many “deals”) but THIS was on sale for $21 and there is a slightly bigger one for $25 that look like they can hold three fully assembled sets. The reviews are pretty scetch with a lot of ppl complaining about glue issues. That’s why I went with the $21 one. Hopefully it’s not total crap but if it is I won’t be heart broken and maybe I can fix it up like the people in the comments have done.

Hmm, I want to partay! I think it would be just a few people. Close friends, girlfriend, and OP. Nothing too fancy. I am not really a party person, so it would probably end up being me just sitting and talking with everyone while eating snacks. :P Trail mix with M&Ms = best party food. Music is a must! Just something to have in the background, ya know? And as far as games, why not darts?

Thanks for the contest and congrats on the writing gig. :)

Is it this board that you're talking about?

They use this board at the pub next to my work. I play on it during my breaks and after work. It's a good board, held up pretty well, and its easily going into a year of use at the pub.

I'd recommend it over the Viper board. IMHO, you can't go wrong with Winmau or Unicorn dartboards. They're all great quality boards for the range and pricing.

edit: at only $10 more than the Viper board, Its a steal. Get this one if you're looking at a board in this price range.

>The problem is I spend a ton of time at my family's houses and they always want to play darts but don't want to drill a hole in the door. Saw this online(https://www.amazon.com/Unicorn-On-Tour-Portable-Dartboard/dp/B002Y49HB8) and decided to make my own from stuff laying around my garage.

It really depends on what you are looking for. I've used plenty over the years. For at least 15 years my go to was the White Horse Case. Lately I've been trying to downsize though and have progressed from that to the Casemaster Elite Jr. to the Casemaster Salvo, and then on to the wallet style cases with the Bulls Trifold Wallet Deluxe Dart Case which is the right concept that I wanted, but way too floppy and the dart retention sucks (the darts will just fall out of it if you're not careful). Right now I'm using the Target Montana Wallet which is all the way at the other extreme - retention is great but it is way too stiff and fat for what I want. I'm thinking of trying the Target Carrera Wrap Wallet next if anyone has any experience with it and can give me a heads up on it.

edit: I actually really like all of the above, by the way, just haven't found the one that is perfect for me yet.

u/Hipacrockafrog · 1 pointr/Darts

Not used them yet but feel lovely. Have read some really good things about them. Amazon link for those who are interested.

u/EndofA_Error · 7 pointsr/Blackfellas

Yeah, it's wild how little of a fuck the police give about stalking cases...

My advice: Get a self defense spike and take some self defense classes to build up the confidence to handle a possible physical confrontation. I hope it doesn't come to that tho. Good luck and stay safe, sis.

Code Wikibuy30 gets you Cricket Pro 800 or Amazon for like $230. Pretty sure this is the best you will get in that range.

u/TKFTGuillotine · 1 pointr/Darts

Okay, so I couldn't find these "Designa" darts talked about, but I managed to find these on Amazon for $17, made with tungsten and at 24g as recommended in the article. Do these look like good starters to you?

If you're determined to buy only from Amazon, go to Red Dragon's Amazon page, look through Amberjacks and Flightmasters (or search Amazon under "Red Dragon Amberjacks" or "Red Dragon Flightmasters"), and pick one that appeals. Since you're beginning, I recommend something with a straight barrel, anything that strikes you from, say, 21-26 grams.

But be advised that you can also buy darts from Red Dragon on eBay and from their own site, and both alternatives are significantly cheaper.

Here are just some of the ones I'd recommend for a beginner, but be sure to look through them all on the Amazon site:

All quality darts. I've been playing darts since 1990 and have never felt the need for an expensive set. To show you that I believe in my recommendation, you could go to my Twitter page and look through my pictures to see what I throw, or you could see the ones I use myself here, from the same brand as what I'm suggesting to you: https://www.amazon.com/Red-Dragon-Amberjack-Tungsten-Checkout/dp/B005ZSSONM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1483209625&sr=8-3&keywords=red+dragon+amberjacks

Feel like this is a great deal. I got my delivered last night, will update with photos after work.

$13 for 90% Tungsten soft tip darts, that also includes the nice trifold red dragon dart wallet, a pack of soft tips, winmua steel tip conversion points, 2 sets of medium stems and 3 sets of flights.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00RTJTPR4?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image#

I didn't weigh them yet, but I did strip them quickly and they look great.

u/jimmyleeiv · 1 pointr/Darts

Found this one but it doesn't even come close design wise.

u/StabbyJane · 2 pointsr/Darts

I got a zapp rubber throw line mat from Amazon in December that is really nice. It was only $49 at the time, but the price has gone up since then.

u/RonSprouse · 5 pointsr/DartsTalk

FYI...... Red Dragon Double Agent (Designa Apaches) 20g are back on sale for $13 on Amazon USA site. Unbeatable dart at that price IMO. Won't be in stock until 10/10.

Casemaster Elite JR

This is the case I use. I carry one set of Steel tip darts and one set of soft tip darts for when I am throwing darts away from the house and don't know if we are doing soft or steel. I don't have to remove flights on either set when they are in the case. And it has room to house a plethora of accesories.
