🎓 Reddit experts on rock music
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
Down by the Water by PJ Harvey (only a live lyric video, I'm sorry!). Basically pop but not really and it is really moody. If you like that, you'd probably dig Limp by Fiona Apple.
I'm going off your love for Britney and Katy here (two rad girls). Maybe try out some Bjork? Big Time Sensuality is one of my favorites from her. Fri-End? by Kate Nash (my girl crush since forever) is a great tune to dance to and she's a wonderful performer.
As for Daft Punk, try out something with the same kind of attitude but with a bit less electronic elements that can get kinda tiring (couldn't listen to all of RAM in one sitting). I always got a similar energy from the lovely men in Franz Ferdinand.
I see you dig Rush (a band that took me forever to appreciate). Try Styx. Their song Renegade has always been a favorite of mine, and I'm not ashamed to own most of their discography on vinyl.
Amazon links to each song:
Down by the Water
Big Time Sensuality
Fri-end?
Take Me Out
Renegade
And also, shameless plug for my boyfriend's band The Informal Gentlemen who make some pretty rad music you may enjoy. Their first album, Orange Lights (found on the side of the screen when you scroll down), is something you may enjoy. A bit more on the poppy side (lots of Fall Out Boy comparisons apparently).
Hope you dig!
Thanks for hosting! This was a lot of fun! Some of the best memories are made in flip flops.
The lyrics in the preview snippet on Amazon are pretty explicitly talking about "love" and if it's a platonic love it's a really damn weird platonic love, lol:
>But they watch us, and they know
>And they’re happy as they see our love grow
>We’ll sit for a while, as I drink in your smile
>It feels like a dream that’s come true
>My head starts to buzz and my heart fills with love over you
>Baby can’t you see
>You could be with me
>We could live inside a
As explicit as this is and as hard it is to explain away as anything else, I'm not gonna let myself get my hopes up until there's some real REAL explicit hinting in the show.
Rancid but I would start out with ...And Out Come The Wolves and expand from there. That's by far their most popular album. There are some great individual songs on most of their albums but that one is generally considered to be the most solid. I personally view Green Day the same way and Dookie is the only album I would call great though they have great songs scattered throughout their catalog.
Operation Ivy was closely associated with Green Day in the beginning.
I don't listen to a lot of mainstream punk so I can't offer much more but search this sub because punk-related questions get asked often.
I actually used to be a Christian Dj a long time ago, and I've kept up with the music (I actually haven't had time in the last year, so some of this may be older, but hyperlinks to Amazon are included - I'm sure most are on iTunes as well). I broke them down by what I consider the top 6 genres of music that MOST people listen to - I excluded genres like classical, chanting, opera, country, etc. These are all Christian artists that happen to love making music that I enjoy. Many of these artists have additional albums, but I linked the ones I know I like. EXPLORE!!!

Thanks for the fun contest!!
I love eighties music, so the thing running through my head right now is definitely Heart.
"I've been lonely/I've been waiting for you/I'm pretending and that's all I can do/The love I'm sending/Ain't making it through to your heart."
If the Raffle gods choose me, I would love She & Him: Volume 3!
I don't have specific music I listen to while I write, but I definitely have to have some background noise whether it be music or TV or whatever. I do not have a totem. I use my netbook, and I just use Microsoft Word. I am definitely a pantser and always have been. I just go where the story takes me. I have not actually completed any of my books yet, but I have one in progress, and several ideas.
I also have written many songs, which I also am a total pantser in that regard too. However, I handwrite those and just write on whatever is available at the time.
I don't specifically have any writing related stuff like paper or pens or anything, but books and music both inspire my writing. So, take your pick :-).
Hi Kalanz!
I would love Awake by Skillet if I win!
I love having something to look forward to now on Mondays! You are awesome!
Patton
On the final day they actually had varying music, thank god. Made the stream much more enjoyable.
I'm still disappointed that they didn't bring back the classic music from Eleague season 1 at all: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3sg7PsgYB0
Btw can anyone tell me what the name of the song is that played during the final "Thanks for watching" screen?
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/118232158?t=05h16m04s
Edit: Name of the song that played during the final screen is "Geared" by Sam Reynolds, thanks /u/AJoeit and /u/minitrees.
Links: Spotify, Amazon
Actually a full list of the names of all the songs used during the major would be nice... any chance /u/Alchemister5?
I picked skillet
Music is always a commentary on society.
Thanks for the contest kind sir!
Edit: here I am, 6 minutes later browsing an entirely different thread and it hits me that I didn't complete your questions.
I picked that album because I love skillet! I haven't heard them for quite a while and they would definitely be a great band to rock out to while working.
Two songs that always make me feel awesome and motivated are Styx - Renegade and Kansas - Carry On, Wayward Son
Good luck with studying!
This cover of 'The Boxer is one of the best covers I have ever heard. Heck, you can't go wrong when the original artist since backup for you, right? :D
Thank you for the contest! :)
Sunday And I agree with the gifting 5 people instead of one, that way more people get that whole warm and fuzzy feeling when they get a gift.
Good luck with the job!
I'd love this!
Fuzzy pants are awesome.
Thanks for the contest!
Count Chocula
This gets stuck in my head all day, and I love it. Perfect catchy Beck goodness.
The Protomen are a rock band from Nashville that started in 2004. They've created a whole rock opera out of (a heavily augmented version of) the story of the Megaman video-game series, filling out two excellent concept albums: The Protomen, and The Protomen: Act II. The story is like a mix of Ayn Rand and Orwell, the music like Bruce Springsteen and Meat Loaf and Ennio Morricone and Radiohead all jizzed in a circle and it turned into a little baby music.
They also have a song about beards.
Me gusta! ... not sure if this would be considered celebratory music BUT it does seem appropriate :)
Congrats on passing! Passing is a good feeling but passing after a prior failure is an AMAZING feeling!

Came here to plug The Protomen, left satisfied.
Their new release: ACT II, The Father of Death is some tasty, tasty prologue (pre Protoman & Megaman) and covers the rise of Wiley, the transformation of the City, and the fall of Dr. Light.
The Good Doctor -- Dr. Light and Dr. Wiley debate turning on the machines they've created together.
The Hounds -- Dr. Wiley puts his plans to action, starting with framing Dr. Light for murder and issuing a city-wide manhunt.
It is stunningly awesome.
This is my favorite Simon and Garfunkel song covered by my favorite name, Mumford and Sons!

Anything is possible, there are a lot of good theories right now with the records, especially how the number of albums (54) is important.... and we all have ideas about which one or two should be examined closely. Looking at the name of the first song on this album, I'd support it being examined. https://www.amazon.com/Low-Spark-High-Heeled-Boys/dp/B000W02LZ0/ref=sr_1_1?s=dmusic&ie=UTF8&qid=1450053964&sr=1-1-mp3-albums-bar-strip-0&keywords=traffic

edit: formatting and stuff is hard.
This is what I dust off every holiday season: Merry AXEMas. Its not metal, but is basically just shredding guitar Christmas covers from a bunch of virtuosos. There are a couple of volumes.
The new Puscifer album is called Conditions of my Parole.
Don't let the silly album cover turn you off. This is my favorite album in a long time.
I like it lots.
And for anyone who doesn't know, PFI is the solo side project of Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria. Its mostly electronica and some acoustic stuff. Its got a weird twist and its pretty great.
Here's a sad song.
Here's a song about Freddy Kreuger finally getting some love.
And here's a link to buy.
Also available for pre-order on Google Play and Amazon, thankfully it's not delayed on Google Play like it has been in the past.
I personally don't get the point in pre-orders for a digital soundtrack but hey they're there if you want to pay upfront I guess.
You can buy and download it here.
You can also listen to it for free on Spotify.
Amazon protip: everything in an Amazon URL that starts with "/ref=" and beyond...you don't need it. Save yourself some space and use a shorter link, like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Low-Spark-High-Heeled-Boys/dp/B000W02LZ0
Can't Find My Way Home that's my jam.
Thanks for contest.
If anyone wants to buy this masterpiece... or just read the hilarious comments:

I think that's what played during the final screen
You. You buy this right now, god dammit.
Hmm, you might be right actually, as the English Amazon site still has it listed as "bmblb"
It's legit, the track listing is here and apparently there is a sample as well, but I can't play that because I don't have a US amazon account.
Not sure what it says that they've got a tease this heavy handed on the soundtrack, but I honestly can't point to a song from the volume it could be, unless it's that track that people were calling 'Home' before now
Also, if you want the cover of "The Boxer" but don't want the CD, you can download the track separately here:

GO KAYLA GO
This song is fitting for 5K training. Just put the one song on repeat and keep putting one foot in front of the other.
As far as I'm concerned it can be assumed that it will be on the soundtrack since there has always been accoustic versions of previous theme songs. Heck we still don't have a confirmed release date, it's only been assumed it will be released around the same date as the dvd/blu-rau.
Edit: Apparently the expected released date for the Amazon MP3 version is June 16th
Expected June 16th.
Item! Why won't you move Mr. Bubbles? Also, is that a Bioshock reference? :D
Or shorter still... http://amzn.com/B000W02LZ0
Congrats on your promotion! I hate missing people, I'm sorry :(
Because I love this song and
