Lots of big dog stuff here! Here's some nice things for the little guys (~25 lbs and under). Many of these items are good for big dogs, too; will note them with a * sign and list them first in each section.

Treats

  • Himalayan Dog Cheese Chew*: Long-lasting hard cheese chews; can be microwaved to make "cheesy popcorn" for your dog when it gets small enough to pose a swallowing hazard. Comes in a variety of sizes.

  • Brushless Toothpaste*: Our dog LOVES this stuff, and it keeps his breath smelling awesome. Also helps keep his teeth clean. May want to introduce these into the dog's diet slowly, as some are sensitive to the ingredients but acclimate over time. Comes in an even smaller size for the really tiny dogs, and bigger sizes for the big dogs :)

  • Freeze-dried chicken*: Easy to break into small pieces and sprinkle over your dog's kibble or regular food.

  • Stella & Chewy Meal Mixers*: Great to sprinkle over your dog's regular food for both nutrition and novel taste.

  • Fruitables Minis: Small and low-calorie; great for clicker-training your dog. Comes in a wide variety of flavors.

  • Crazy Dog Bacon Treats*: Also small and very-low calorie; another good clicker-training tool.

    Toys

  • KONG Mini Squeaky Tennis Balls*: Great for dogs who like either balls, squeaky toys, or both! My dog had zero interest in balls before these, and they're still the only ones he'll play with. Come in lots of sizes; not good for strong dogs who like to chew up their balls.

  • Dog Tornado*: Easy introductory puzzle toy that's not too big for little dogs. Good for kibble, wet food, and treats. May be too big for dogs under 7 lbs.

  • Dog Tower: Another great introductory puzzle toy suitable for small dogs. Good for kibble and small treats. Not sure how this'll hold up to big dogs, although I think it'd be fine with the gentler ones.

  • JW Treat Pod: Kind of like the Kong, but better suited for gentler, 'licking'-type dogs. Easier to clean out as well, IMO; the small Kongs are so hard to get completely clean even with a brush.

  • Outward Hound Flirt Pole: Fun and easy exercise, the Outward Hound version is more lightweight and suited for small dogs.

    Harnesses, Collars, & Safety

  • Pet Stairs*: Large collection of pet stairs. Some on this page are suitable for large dogs as well.

  • Hurtta Active Dog Harness*: High-quality dog harness for dogs that love to run around the outdoors in all kinds of weather and elements. Comes in a variety of sizes; for dogs 7+ lbs.

  • Ruffwear Swamp Cooler*: Comes in XXS, XS, and S. Great for keeping your dog cool in the summer if you don't live in a humid area.

  • Hurtta Pet Overall*: Great for rain and snow; comes in a variety of small sizes. Fit perfectly on our Pom mix and very high quality.

  • Musher's Secret*: Protect your dog's paws in cold weather.

  • Sleepypod Clickit*: Crash-tested car harness, comes in a variety of sizes.

  • Sleepypod Mobile Carrier/Car Seat/Pet Bed: Crash-tested dog bed/car seat/carrier!

  • Lil Pals Step-in Mesh Harness: For the seriously small dogs.

  • Ollydog Marin Collar: Completely waterproof, rustproof, extremely durable, easy to put on...the perfect collar!

    Grooming

  • The Stuff Detangler and Conditioner*: Keeps your dog's coat looking clean and glossy; easy to apply and doesn't have a strong odor.

  • Lil Pals Grooming Kit: Miniature grooming tools for your miniature dog at a very affordable price.

I used to love Zukes, but had to find something else after they were bought out.

These are some alternatives that I have had good luck with:

  • Cheese - normal, every day cheese. String cheese or cheddar cut into a cube works well and is easy to handle so I can break off small pieces.

  • Wet Nose Little Stars - not the highest value treat, but they are super easy to handle.

  • Yumzies - soft treats, easy to break down

  • Blue Buffalo Stix - soft, easy to break down, easy to carry around, not super crumbly

  • Lakse Kronch Salmon Treats - Fairly crumbly but SO Stinky. Really good high value treat (and they only have 2 ingredients - salmon and fish meal).

  • Ziwi Peak - either the bags of treats or, admittedly I bought a bag of the food to try, was not overly impressed with it (made our corgi SUPER gassy) so I have just been using it for treats. $30 for 2.2lbs of treats v. $7 for 3oz is a pretty good deal.

  • Wild meadow farms bison minis

If you want to make your own treats - Liver Brownies are always a hit. There are a couple different variations of the recipe I have seen - I try to use whole wheat or brown rice flour, olive oil and less garlic, but - essentially you just want to make a doughy consistency. You can experiment in smaller batches and find a recipe that works really well for you!

Things you need to know about your husky:

u/frisckydriscky · 3 pointsr/ferrets

We go with the raw food diet. It took them a minute to get used to, but they LOVE it now. Eat like maniacs, and they're full of energy with a beautiful coat. Vet says everything looks great too. I've had vets tell me that we should stop and put them on a kibble diet instead. I've had vets tell me to never feed them kibble and only raw meats. It's really whatever you prefer. I'm not against kibble, it seems perfectly fine if you're careful about ingredients.
A raw diet is the closest to what they would eat in the wild, so it made the most sense to me. I haven't had any bad experiences so far.

You do have to do your research and get a good mix of different kinds of meats in there - it should mostly be bones, but you have to include organs and muscle meats as well. We feed ours 3 oz each twice a day. Every other meal is raw chopped up chicken winglets (you can use whatever works for you - we just found this easiest to chop). Then in between we alternate with raw chicken hearts and raw steak strips (the ones for stir fry are already cut and it's perfect. Chopped meat is another easy alternative, my guys didn't seem to care for it though)

The most clear explanation/breakdown that I came across was from /u/TehWeezle in this post - https://www.reddit.com/r/ferrets/comments/4oekia/beginner_ferret_guide_compilation_vol_2a/ (the comments offer a lot of clarity)

For treats we use freeze dried liver and they go nuts over it.
(https://www.amazon.com/Stewart-Pro-Treat-Freeze-Dried-Treats/dp/B00SX4V7NE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1502931617&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=freeze+dried+liver&psc=1) Salmon oil is another one they like. It's usually what we use to keep them still enough to clip their nails (put them on their back and rub some on their belly, they'll sit there and lick it all day.) I've read a lot of people giving their ferrets raw egg yolk as a treat, and they seem to like it. My guys couldn't seem to care less.

Some tips:

  1. They hide food, and it will smell. I have to check their cage everyday, and I just put it back in their bowl. This could be tricky if you're letting them roam free.

  2. They were fed kibble before hand, our first guy didn't understand it was food. We had to put a bit of kibble on top to get him to understand, but after 3 days he was totally kibble free and didn't have a problem.

  3. Its a lot of prep - We buy everything in bulk at the beginning of the month, cut everything up and put them into baggies and keep them in the freezer. Takes a good two hours or so. We keep about three days worth in the fridge defrosted and once we use a bag we just take another out of the freezer.

  4. Some people swear the food has to be warm for them to eat it (like prey) but our guys don't seem to care. They've eaten it half frozen with no problem.

  5. You can get to a point where you just put a whole drumstick or thigh in there and let them learn to tear it apart themselves... I'm a nervous nelly and panic that they're going to choke to death so I cut it up for them. It's probably illogical, but to each their own.

  6. Don't let their poop panic you. When they eat organs it tends to be very dark and runny. I first panicked it was blood in their stool, or something was wrong. Vet confirmed its just from all of the organ blood they're consuming.

  7. Last but not least, you'll find videos and blogs of people doing prey diets (if you haven't already). Some people will put an entire dead pigeon carcass in the cage and let their catsneks have at it. Some people even give them live mice and let them kill it themselves. Yes this is how they eat in the wild, but I can't stomach that. This was the next best thing I could do for them.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions let me know.

I also use Fromm! It’s great dog food, but my Berner (Brody) can be a little picky at times too.

[Brody**](https://i.imgur.com/AsrT4bE.jpg

I highly recommend using additive products made by “The Honest Kitchen”. I use their beef bone broth as a topper to the food, my pup goes crazy for it! Also, it’s not expensive so adding it to your rotation doesn’t affect your budget.

It says to use 1 tablespoon per 25lbs with 4 oz warm water. Brody is 100+lbs, but I only use the 1 tablespoon and that makes enough to cover all the food with beefy flavor.

I hope this helps!!!

Whatever the issue is, this will not fix it but I have heard really amazing stories of older dogs getting so much more happiness out of life after they started taking it. Bentley is taking it now and it very well might be the reason he is using his back legs more.
Good luck with your pup!

My FAVORITE Disney Movie is The Little Mermaid. I love Ariel and when I was little, I felt like her and I had a lot in common and I could relate to her.

It looks like you have dogs. Have they tried this? I love these! It helps break down tartar on their teeth

My item under $5.00

Also, my favorite Disney memory was finishing the Princess Half Marathon this past February :)

See ya real soon!

We use the puppy kong fill it mostly with his actual dry food taken from his food allowance, then a bit of this to make it sticky. He mostly licks it out, but he's not chewing anything else while he's engaged with the Kong if you see what I mean.

He loves to chew up sticks, but he's pretty entertained by carrots as well. We only let him at those supervised though, just in case.

Links are Amazon.co.uk, sorry if that's confusing.

So my 'perfect night in' is pretty simple. And I'm bored so I'm throwing out a bunch of random things on the WL that would be involved. Oh, and 'me time'.

SO. First off, we would start with a relaxing bath with some good smelling soaps and soaks. This inevitably involved a cat or two standing guard because they're weirdos. Then I settle into my super comfortable pajama pants paired with a comfortable shirt. Set up the PS3 or BluRay player with a good movie to watch, then retreat to the couch and settle in with a nice pillow, blanket, and something to snuggle with (cause the cats are assholes and don't like snuggles). Of course there will be snacks too, lots of snacks. Ideally, there would also be a lack of assholes texting my phone during this time period. And though I will not put the title of 'asshole' on my mother (she'd find out somehow), sometimes I really don't want to see LOLCat pics or Some ECards that she's texting me.

I’m not sure what comes after the word poultry but take a peek at these- we break them in half and my picky eater enjoys them!
virbac chews

The other thing he loves are beef gullet sticks (they’re smaller than bully stick and I cut them in half length wise to become 2 treats.)

Good luck!

u/oaksandroses · 4 pointsr/Indiemakeupandmore

My older pup has the most sensitive stomach, but she's fine with the Zuke's brand. These are her favorites, but they make a "calming" treat as well. I haven't tried those ones yet (don't really need to now), but when we first got Beans and she was 24/7 anxious, we tried another brand of calming treats (I wanna say these?) that seemed to help. The pup wasn't really into the flavor of those ones though.

Let's see. I trusted my college counselor that I had actually completed all of my credits and graduated and it turned out that I was 6 credits shy for the minimum credits needed to graduate (even with my major and double minor being done). I fucked up. But then I got an amazing internship at a law firm for the fall semester (I was to graduate early in December) and ended up getting a letter of recommendation from the vice president to go to law school and three years later here I am about to take the Bar Exam in three days. My turtle, Lord Grantham, would love these!!

Sure! It's a brand of organic dog treats and supplements imported from Denmark, we sell B2B to about 350 stores coast to coast:

From what I can tell so far the programming is not as lofty or difficult as I originally imagined it would be? I would definitely be down to learn more about it :)

I suddenly have a powerful desire to create a totally automated dog food company, and am starting to think this mad idea is actually possible

u/batmanismyconstant · 2 pointsr/dogs

I've used those liver treats. They have a pretty strong organ meat smell. I think the smell must be pretty strong. Our cat normally doesn't care for dog treats, but she managed to open our cupboard and the liver treat container and gorged herself on them.

These Plato treats are super fishy smelling. Not sure if foreign kibble is high enough value, but Orijen sells .75 pound trial bags of their 6 Fish kibble. That stuff is sooo fishy. You can also put some hella disgusting things in a food tube if you have a toothpaste tube lying around to make one. Something like tuna, anchovy, and yogurt pureed together will smell awful-delicious.

u/CallMeMrsSlender · 2 pointsr/puppy101

Reward him for even the slightest interest or movement towards the treat in your hand. If you're still seeing that he's hesitant then you can try a couple of different things to lure him:

  • A Click Stick with pb or soft treats smushed on the end

  • A wooden spoon with a glob of pb on the end

  • A lean lix style treat

  • a small jar (baby food jars are perfect) with frozen wet food in it

Here's the link for what mine is on, our vet recommended them, they're called Dasuquin. We've been giving her one a day, two if she played rough or we went hiking or something. We just recently upped her to two a day standard, as she's gotten older. I definitely do notice a diff fence if we give her 2 vs 1, she's much more spry. We highly recommend!

Treat dispensing toys, puzzles, flirt pole (puppy can play with this some but no jumping or sharp turns), kongs, crate, training treats, blankets, enzymatic cleaner. And beanie babies for my dog that is obsessed with them :P

You can also get food/bully sticks/antlers on amazon but I usually order them from chewy.com

A really really good chew that I absolutely love is a Gorilla Chew, Calvin will chew on this for hours, and because of the type of wood it doesn't splinter or break, it kinda just sheds. We've had one for 2 months now and it's barely got any damage to it. If your pup likes wood, this is a good option.

u/Mythezza · 1 pointr/puppy101

I just got two of these
https://smile.amazon.com/KONG-Puppy-Kong-Small-Assorted/dp/B0002AR18C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496790665&sr=8-1&keywords=puppy+kong

Although like I said, sometimes we use small dabs of peanut butter. I got two so that I could switch them out - so he can have one to chew on (empty) during the day and one in the freezer. I've never had a chewer before, so this was my first experience with Kongs, and so far, they're great!

My mentor swears by freeze dried beef liver dog treats, he buys it by the bucket and breaks the pieces up. Super healthy and enticing to most dogs. https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Treat-Stewart-Freeze-Dried-Treats/dp/B00SX4V7NE

I use mini training treats that are 1.5 calories each. They are easy for me to carry in the car and put in a pouch. They might upset the stomach for sensitive dogs, though.
https://www.chewy.com/crazy-dog-train-me-minis-bacon-flavor/dp/133182

Other high value treats that work great in small doses include cheese, hotdogs, steak. Obviously less convenient than buying dog treats. Smelly and moist treats are the most enticing usually, but each dog is different. Some turn their nose up mine so I always ask the owner.

u/Moosasaurus · 1 pointr/reactivedogs

Lamb lung puffs are the highest value treats we've used. They are atrociously stinky and I think that's a lot of the currency. I've put them aside for the moment though, on the advice of u/zijinyouyou to avoid lamb because it's a very "hot" food, and we are currently using Vital Essentials minnows as the highest value treats. Bonus for us is that the minnows are really easy to tear into smaller pieces on the spot, and the tearing makes enough of a sound that she usually hears it and turns to look.

u/TheDoctorBlind · 2 pointsr/labrador

We got/get our lab shin bones and water buffalo horns. They are the best. I get mine from IFA, Sheels and Amazon. I had 2 or three different options around almost every room for the first 6 months.

u/ammolite · 1 pointr/hermitcrabs

My (and my crab's) favorite source of chitin is Fluker's Aquatic Turtle Medley Treat. The insects and shrimp provide lots of chitin and protein!

If your crab has seemed stressed from the start, it was probably caused by the petstore and shipping. A proper molt may be what the crab needs to destress.

If you have a screen lid, try wrapping part of it with plastic cling wrap, especially over the water bowls. If you can afford it, Aqueon sells a Versa-Top Hinged Glass Lid for most standard-sized aquariums. You can also suction-cup a plastic shower caddy to the side of the tank and fill it with moist, reptile-safe moss. (This is available at most petstores, and online.) The crabs will also eat the moss, and some may even molt in it. If you're having a lot of problems with humidity, you can add "bubbler pools." They're made by putting airstones in your waterbowls, and connecting them to a small aquarium pump via plastic aquarium tubing. [The Hermit Crab Association]{http://hermitcrabassociation.com/phpBB/index.php) has instruction for bubbler pools, and other humidity-increasing ideas.

One other suggestion I have is increasing the depth of your substrate from 5 inches to 6-8 inches. Your crabs are small-to-medium, so you can wait until your crab surfaces before adding more. While 5 inches is probably enough for a small crab to molt successfully, more is always better with hermits!

u/cygnuswomyn · 2 pointsr/dogs

Ugh, I am sorry you are going through this. I am hotel traveling with my dog soon and have been researching how to deal w/ anxiety during transitions. Here is what I have come up with so far.

  1. exercise body and mind hard to ensure calm
  2. DAP collar with dog appeasing pheromones
  3. "calming" treats I went with http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00518G50U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  4. swaddling, can be done with a thunder shirt or even just a blanket. http://www.waycooldogs.com/does-swaddling-help-dog-anxiety/

Please keep us posted on how it goes and if you find something that works well for your smart, nervous boy.

To add some better, more digestible alternatives are bully sticks/rings (which can be had de-scented) and ChurpiChews/Himalayan Chews.

The cool thing about the latter is that, when it gets too small to chew, you can pop it in the microwave for a few seconds and turn it into a big doggie cheeto. :D

u/ladyofcorgi · 1 pointr/puppy101

Definitely - and if it doesn't improve, you can always give it back to him later. My little guy LOVES these: http://www.amazon.com/ABO-Gear-Natural-Buffalo-Edible/dp/B00C0PZWR4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394561720&sr=8-1&keywords=bully+horn - they're cheaper at local pet stores, but mine last months so even $13 isn't bad. Worth a try!

u/puppyorbagel · 2 pointsr/dogs

We use this one: https://www.amazon.com/Merrick-Turducken-Recipe-Treats-ounces/dp/B00JAEKA3Y and have also had the chicken ones. My dog tends to prefer poultry to anything else. They are star shaped and pretty tiny. If you're seeing the more round ones, you might be looking at Merrick's "sausage cuts," which would be too big for the furbo (I sometimes use those for my dog's kong).

u/xomandark · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

No problem! Churpi chews are another good long-term chew option. Daisy used to go through rawhides way too fast and they aren't great for the stomach, but she can chew on a churpi all night and not make too much of a dent in it and it's easy on the stomach.

u/GoHawks12 · 10 pointsr/nfl

These are apparently a lot better for dogs than normal rawhides. Wife's sister works at a Pet Store and that's what she says anyways

u/Njeff · 1 pointr/funny

It's a Rice Krispy Treat from a variety pack. Mostly Rice Krispies cereal held together by melted marshmallows and butter.

u/panniculus · 2 pointsr/dogs

These! They're pretty big but you can break them into smaller pieces.

u/Moonlitmindset · 2 pointsr/AskVet

Not a vet but I work at a pet store and we sell imitation rawhide bones called "no hides". They're made with either chicken or beef (they might come in other flavors), they take the meat and form it into the texture of rawhide. Since it's not actual rawhide it's totally digestible, unless your dog has an intolerance to chicken meat. This is just one brand, but all our customers really love it and nobody's ever had a problem with it

Virbac C.E.T. Enzymatic Oral Hygiene Chews. They work wonders, and she goes crazy for when she hears the bag. We'll try to brush her tooth once a week with a peanut butter toothpaste. (she oddly doesn't mind, thinks it's a game).

She had bad plaque problems way in her back teeth, just up high, last year. But it was because her dog food wasn't big enough. So we switched her to Hill's Science Diet dry dog food (adult for her, even though she is just 19lbs).
