I love the layout, you will surely have an awesome living. This is a huge space and you can do a lot on this. Since you have a white wall, you actually work with a contrast color like darker tone, or do have an accent color in mind, you can use it for the color of your couch or pillows like if you want a gray couch with a yellow and white pillows. A wooden coffee table is perfect on this also added with small plants. For the curtains, you actually have a floor-length and a gray one or an off-white. And by the way, your shelves are perfect for placements of your collections like books partnered with small plants or small framed arts. And for the large wall, you can have a gallery or a combination of multi-panels like if you want the combination of gray and yellow, you can have something like this one.

You can also add a white-colored lamp on the left side of your couch and you can big plants on the side of the shelves. And don't forget also to add some cool rug like this one here, please give us an update. I'm excited about how amazing this space would be.

Yo! I totally get what you're saying, I live in an apartment complex that's plagued with young children [I don't hate children only find it annoying because i record YouTube videos and need the environment to be quiet]

Try these out:

  • Soundproofing - For my windows I bought an Acoustic Curtain (Soundproof) $22 CAD [Really good to block noisy children screams, cars and motor bikes]
  • Mic - I use a Blue Snowball Mic [May not be as sensitive as your Blue Yeti] but I made a DIY Soundbox [I found this video that uses the Blue Yeti so you can compare it to yours]
  • Technique - you can be good with your technique but if you're in an loud environment it really won't work not unless you have a really expensive mic that blocks noise like the senheisser mk series.
  • Post Editing/editing software - You can always edit out the noise profile from your videos.
    • I use VoiceMeeter Banana when im recording to enchance my audio its like a preamp or interface for your mic if you don't already have one. Its FREE however, you can always donate or something.
    • HOW TO: Use & Setup VoiceMeeter Banana - 10mins Video, he's straight to the point
    • HOW TO : Remove Noise in post - 5mins Video, quick and easy [keep in mind that he's using a BLUE Snowball Mic and not a Blue Yeti but i'm assuming this would work too?]

Sorry for the long post! I hope you got something out of this long reply!

Also, if any of you has any suggestions for better or and better alternative please let me know!

Audio Proof: To prove that this actually works, you can go to my reddit profile and check my youtube link there and you can decide whether my audio is good enough for you.

Edit: I'm not a sound engineer or a sound professional but I try to do my research! :)

Your room is so lovey an neutral! You have a lovely opportunity to go with pretty much any color you would like :) personally, I would go for a pale yellow or pastel pink to soften the strong geometric vibe you have going on. Here are some on amazon that I found:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KWOYITW/ref=twister_B077QD6V4T?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1. I agree that it is a good general rule to not have a ton of color everywhere - sheets are my exception. They are only seen when the bed is peeled back - so they can be your own little secret.

I am not sure what your duvet is like here is one that would work along side the light pink:https://www.amazon.com/VClife-Bedding-Cotton-Checkered-Collection/dp/B01N9O53RH/ref=sr_1_22?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1535785093&sr=1-22&keywords=duvet%2Bcover%2Bcotton&th=1 It has a nice airy geometric print that is still feminine. I would add a nice throw pillow like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/243462975/love-birds-pillow-embroidered-cotton?ref=shop_home_active_51 two neutrals from ikea: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20395821/and you are all set!!

Hope this helps!!

lol i would love to have a room like this in my house...but yeah that is so never goin to happen :)

but for realz.. i like this style curtain and it would be fairly easy to sew. i like the contrasting colors. these colors would depend on what 4 colors that you choose for your walls.

for colors on your walls i love ocean colors ..... im not talking about painting it like that.... but any of those colors.. or two of them together. if you were feeling creative you could paint it a base color and then "throw" paint another color on top. i always wanted to do that.

u/Karmakerosene · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'll contribute some dark purple stuff!

Holiday lights can spice up a room at any time of the year!

Curtains!

Maybe a clock?

This beautiful comforter set would look amazing. I even want it.

Throw blankets for when it gets chilly.

This crystal ball would look pretty awesome somewhere.

And some storage bins for good measure.

I hope I helped! Good luck remodeling!

Hang your Fleur on the brick. Either drill and put in a screw or get some brick clips.

I'd borrow a hammer drill and get a permanent screw mounted dead center above the mantle. Even if you move, someone will always use it to hang something.

Other than that, lets start with the basics.

  1. the curtain rod needs to be replaced. You want something strong and sturdy over wide windows. Check out the Amazon basics 1" rod. Im also a fan of the pipe style curtain rods. I have these in my house

  2. Remove the mini blinds from the door and go with 2" faux wood to match the other window. French door blinds like these come with mounts so the very bottom rung attached to the door, making it so they don't flap around when you use the door. Since you have a pupper, You might want to consider using those mounts up higher and leaving some open window space at the bottom for little eyeballs to see outside. It will keep them from tearing up the blinds.

As for the curtain panels for the other window, maybe something like this that matches the carpet style. Since you have window blinds already, you don't really need full on blackout curtains..so some nice semi sheer curtains would look nice. Just push them off to the sides of the window to create the look of curtains...or open the blinds and close them to have privacy but let in light

  3. Get some table lamps for your end tables. And do yourself a favor and get plug in slide dimmers and use dimming LED bulbs or incandescent. I prefer incandescent in my den lamps because they dim really softly and its really homey feeling. Simple table lamps

  4. Paint. I feel like something in a sage green would go nicely in this space.

And if you white wash the brick and stain the mantle a nice dark walnut color...I think the sage green would go nicely.

  5. Lastly, at some point, change out the ceiling fan to something in bronze. [Maybe something like this]
(https://www.homedepot.com/p/Home-Decorators-Collection-Copley-52-in-Indoor-Outdoor-Oil-Rubbed-Bronze-Ceiling-Fan-51504/206648583) Brass dates a house so any time you can get rid of it, you should.

Total self-promotion here, but I did create a guide about how to decorate in the Scandinavian style, if that appeals to you. I did it from the angle of decorating bedrooms, but the advice applies to any room, honestly.

What's your budget?

At the minimum, you'll need:

- A rug.

- Some curtains (get a nice, thick linen fabric, not the cheap-o fabrics. It'll make a huge difference).

- Pillows for the couch. (Bonus if you can put another, different but complementary, pillow on the chair, too. This would work well with the other pillows I linked.)

- A small potted plant for the coffee table.

- A floor lamp for that back corner.

- Some cool artwork to frame above your couch.

Good luck! :)

I found this awesome glass sand timer.

This cool wall roll

This awesome cushion

These also awesome cushions

These curtains are gorgeous!

And finally this handy guide on the gothic lifestyle!

Above all, good luck with your move! Hope you enjoy making roots in your new home!!

Edit: the links I inserted below have parentheses within the link themselves so I apologise for the bad formatting

You need to establish the two areas of the rooms, the kitchen/dining area, as well as the living space. An area rug would work best in the main space. I would go with coordinating small round rug and one small kitchen floor mat in front of the sink.

I also suggest a small kitchen island with foldable counterspace as well as a cuppy underneath for the microwave. A couple of bar stools and you also have a dining space. This can go directly where the microwave is currently. If you get one on wheels it could easily be used for other sort of things such as game night to fit four people at.

The plant is a nice touch and I always say the more greenery the better. Focus on low light, low water plants for easiest indoor maintenance.

You also definitely need curtains.

A large decorative mirror as well as some art work on the wall above the sofa would brighten the space up as well as make it look larger. I would also move the tall lamp to the opposite corner near the TV and get a nice table lamp instead for beside the couch.

I'll include some links for pieces I would go for, based on the current color scheme available through the sofa and throw pillows.

I wouldn't get anything too white, as your room has lots of woods, tans, browns. It might be a little offsetting to have bright white curtains on the walls, but no white anywhere else.

However I think a pattern would be great! It doesn't look like you have any other bold prints so you can really get away with whatever you want. Go crazy with something like this or maybe this. My favorite curtains are these but it's not really as blue or geometric like the others. Hopefully this gives you some ideas? 😊

u/smaggiemay · 2 pointsr/femalelivingspace

Ok - so you're wanting to stick with the pieces you have. You said in another comment you're thrifty (me too!) and not wanting to spend much, so here's what I'd do:

Right now the dark pieces seem very harsh in the room. I'd embrace the theme of the natural wood accents, and tie in your black pieces by adding in some other natural textures! I was bored/procrastinating and did up a (very choppy) photoshop of what I would do with the space. Here you go! I edited out the clutter just for the sake of the design.

I'd love to see some sort of curtain (beaded?) in front of the vanity to make it feel like a more cohesive room. I think something like this would look really cool, although it's a bit pricy. This is more affordable. You could DIY the circles from the UO one if you like them, I'm sure!

I agree with the other poster about mounting the guitars to the wall and storing the stand.

I would make some dowel frames for your map, and hang it above the mirror. I'd also make a few smaller black and white cardstock prints at Staples (cost you about fifty cents or less per page), do the same with the frames, and stack them vertically along the space of the wall beside your closet door.

Are you crafty? You might be able to make a diffuser shade for your 'boob' light like these folks did.

I'd recommend going to Home Depot / Walmart etc and getting a couple more plants, and putting them in terra cotta pots (they're pretty inexpensive).

I would also get a few baskets and put them on the middle shelf of your bookshelf, to break up the lines and make it less overwhelming to look at.

I would get something for your makeup table to contain your makeup so it looks less cluttered.

Heres some pieces similar to what I photoshopped in that you could pick up on on a budget, but a lot of them could be thrifted if you like hunting!

Beaded Curtain

Lamp Shade

Guitar wall mounts

Linen textured curtains

Basket for makeup brushes

Baskets for shelf organization

I can't see what's going on in your bed area, but if you like my suggestions, I'd be happy to make more recommendations if you post a picture!

My husband and I started looking for nursery items once I was about a month pregnant. We bought almost every item in this room on sale in store or slightly used from Facebook marketplace.

The paint color of the room is Sherwin Williams 6764 “Swimming.”

I love relaxing and rocking in this room and feeling baby kick! Enjoy!

Edit: Thanks for the comments about the Rock n Play recall. I forget that online posts don’t come with much context. We kept some things that we used with my now 4 year old. This is actually the same one we bought used with my first kiddo (hence already having it before they were banished from the earth!) I used it per manufacturer instructions with her and it was a great once in a while place to put baby when she was awake. I appreciate everyone’s compassion and efforts to keep babies safe and out of harm’s way.

I am looking to better treat the acoustics for my dedicated listening room. There is one window which is quite large at about the reflection point of the speakers. I would like to get some curtains/drapes to cover this window.

Could you recommend any curtains/drapes specifically that wouldn't set me back more than ~$100?

And also would it be better to get floor to ceiling drapes ( to sound treat below the window where there is a reflection point) or just for the window section?

I was looking at these ones: https://www.amazon.com/Sound-Asleep-Room-Darkening-Noise-Reducing-Chocolate/dp/B0053WZSDO/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1478566053&sr=8-3&keywords=acoustic+curtains

Would tech support be a better thread to ask?

Thanks!

u/DBanony80 · 5 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

If you want to go with the blue/brown, I think the red in the painting and pillows on the loveseat are throwing it off. The second picture looks great if you cover up the right side. Also, you may want to introduce different patterns - you have very similar patterns in the rug and the pillows and it gets busy. Here is a good blog post that shows how different patterns can play on each other

Swapping out the painting would help too - if you want to keep the yellow in the palette you could look for something [like this.] (http://www.amazon.com/Wieco-Art-Stretched-Hand-painted-Art-Decoration/dp/B00H9AHYI0/ref=sr_1_3?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1416349634&sr=1-3&keywords=yellow+paintings+for+wall&pebp=1416349637338)

I also think curtains will help the room feel more "complete" Maybe these ones.

Additionally, if you have the funds - your rug is too small / too large for the space. A good rule of thumb is that all the furniture should be touching it - if you can't manage that, then only the coffee table should be on it. You can see how your coffee table isn't centered on the rug - it makes the coffee table look small, even though it's a perfectly serviceable size.

u/DianeLeanne · 1 pointr/DesignMyRoom

I found some:

  1. Rug - this is more likely smaller or you can choose a desired size. And more on boho style rug.
  2. Curtains - Check this one. It actually give more effect on the living room because it's red.
  3. Pillows/blanket - For the blanket, I prefer white like this. To make it more lighter because your couch is black. For the pillows, you can actually choose 2 colors that would compliment your blanket but at the same time boho style. but not too muchlike this.
  4. For the art above the couch- It more likely good to hang some panel wall art. The large size. I think apush pin world map is great cause you're travelling. You can pin places you visited there.

Then, to make it more lively, try to change your lighting to brighter one.
u/Cutsman4057 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

a dark navy blue will look nice with a muted beige. really, just remember your complimentary colors and make your choice using those!

since orange goes with blue, try to look for some sort of orange curtain like this. not these exactly, but a nice white/orange stripe would be nice. not too much orange (sorry, this was the best i could find), but a little bit to make it pop with the blue.

id like to decorate my room with psycho mantis on my shelf :D

Let's change out those curtains!

u/Mr-Ignorantiam · 6 pointsr/JustBootThings

I get it brotha... but a fckn blanket? HardCorps here can do without a box of ammo and class himself up with a $20 blackout curtain.
